Use the wikia: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ulysses
He's a courier, possible Legion connection, has a previous history with Courier Six.

I'm guessing he's the prisoner, the player character from Van Buren. I don't have any evidence, I just think it'd be cool.

It'd give him a connection to Joshua Graham, and the Big Empty too.

I don't think Ulysses is involved with the Legion but then again there is so much limited info on him that we really can't nail it down as to what Ulysses was.

Where did the "possible Legion connection" come from?

His card in the collector's edition was in the Legion suit. Clubs, if IIRC.

In the GECK there is also an unused recruit Legionary with 'Ulysses' in the ID.

In the Collectors Edition of Fallout New Vegas we got a card deck where each card had important characters.
On one collection, (hearts, spades, clovers) there were NCR members or NCR affiliated members, on one where outside of Vegas, on one where House and other Vegas inhabitants and on the final row were Legion members, Ulysses is on that final row, the Legion row.

I don't know about this but I found it mildly suspicious that the location where he was supposed to be living had an observation platform that faced west...not east.

He was ment to deliver the Platinum Chip, then he saw the Courier's name down next on the list. He asked Johnson Nash if the Courier's name was for real, as if he'd expected the Courier to be dead. Nash informed him that the Courier was still alive, and the messenger flat-out turned down the job, and the caps that it was worth. He only said "No, let 'Courier Six' carry the package", as if he expected the Mojave Wasteland to finish the Courier off or prehaps the Legion?

Doubt that though. If you're a courier for the Mojave Express, you're bound to be able to handle the Wasteland - you wouldn't be much good otherwise. As for the Legion - why would they intercept a courier going from Primm to Vegas? And the courier would just avoid them anyway - wasteland survival 101.

No, there's got to be another reason why he ditched the job and let you do it instead. We'll find out soon enough ;)

Possible. Seems a little farfetched to me, but it's possible. There aren't many Old World flags present in NV, and those that are seem to have something to do with Ulysses. One is at his shack on Wolfhorn Ranch, he has a flag on the back of his clothes, and the Courier is supposed to fight him "beneath the Old World flag" in the Lonesome Road DLC, according to Christine.
As far as I know, the last one is on Victor's shack in Goodsprings, and although nobody lives there now, some inhabitants of Goodsprings say his owner lived there. I believe Trudy says the owner was already gone when she took over the saloon seven years ago. He could've moved to Wolfhorn Ranch then.

I read somewhere that he turned it down because he had a grudge against the player because of something you did before the events of NV....

love it: backstory. And everyone said "there is no backstory to your character in this game..." So why can't you rememember? Bullet to the head? Why don't you do to Wolfhorn Ranch and know who lives/lived there? etc

All I can assume is that he wasn't ready to deal with you yet. Either he was scared when he saw your name, or he thought he needed more time to exact his revenge (for whatever reason). Hopefully Honest Hearts will give us another hint or 2.

i think if the courier was a female, courier "six" and Ulysses were romantically involved or something and if male the courier and him were best friends.
Then things went south and Ulysses is trying to get away from you, forget about you and your existence.

Does that sound far-fetched?

All we know is that Courier Six and Ulysses have "some form or relationship," the devs have hinted that they think the kind of relationship they have will surprise us, and comments by Christine and Jonathan Nash make it sound as though Ulysses is vengeful about something.

I doubt the "relationship" has anything to do with romance because that would be odd for the player; it would depend on your character's gender and their sixual preference.

I don't think there will be any romance involved, and I think Chris Avellone said that he doesn't belive in romances in-game. I can see them being in a gang, or the courier wiped out his friends and family.

It would have been before the game, and would probably get mentioned, but nothing else.

Actually, no. There was a whole thread on that exact subject once, it wouldn't matter what the gender is, it is just as well possible in the fallout world that it could have been a homosixual relationship.

He was a warrior from Ancient Greece who helped at the battle of Sparta, and upon returning home, he had gotten caught up with a plethora of hindrances, including seeing the Underworld itself!
