Who uses poisons? I love them

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 8:31 am

I have been making potions for the cash money but will soon start making specialized poisons to put on the tips of my arrows for the bonus damage. Some of the extra damage is pretty huge. I've gotten it up to 74 extra damage on poison and that is without trying. I'm going to start looking for the perfect recipes. So far there are some nice paralyze + damage, slow + damagge, and regular +damage poisons. Having them on 2 attacks is pretty huge also. I never seem to get slow to work though. Does it only work on humans?

I don't know about your question, mostly because of the rest of my comment- even my thief/rogue character hardly ever uses poisons because the person pulling the levers in her head almost always forgets to use them. Plus I really don't want to level Alchemy, I have a character who's into "crafting" skills and she constantly carries around 250ish points of what I would describe as "dead weight". That being said, good lord, extra damage. I should look into it.

241 points of damage, i can use this twice on any weapon i want or silently place it in someones pocket and watch them slowly die, completely frozen. I can give you the recipe.

I'd love to have the recipe. What are your perks into Alchemy as well?

Imp Stool as a base, then add Human flesh, if you cant find human flesh you can substitute it for Canis root, the third ingredient can be either Slaughterfish eggs or scales, or orange dartwing. You can use Mora Tapinella but it will have the side effect of "restore magicka", which wont mean much when your target is dead.

I have perks that improve poisons, aswell as 5/5 alchemy. Also its worth going for greenthumb that collects two ingredients instead of one, and the perk that lets you use a poison for two hits, you effectively quadruple your poisons

do u guys figure out the effects or are they unlocked as you lvl up alchemy? my barbarian nord has no need for such tricks but a dark elf might. putting poison in someones pocket sounds fun but what happens if they spot u, does the poison still take hold?

I love playing around with the different ingredients...although I wouldn't suggest wearing surround sound speakers turned all the way up, after eating some stuff to find the properties...almost took a dump after backing out if the menu and confronting the barrage of spell effects.

According to the Strategy Guide, as you eat things, you discover their powers. Or, you can find specific recipes in the Strategy Guide on the very next page.

I don't use them because of the pop-up that happens when I apply them. Yes, I want to poison the weapon I am holding, that's why I selected the poison! Is there a way to turn the confirmation off?

Is there a way to poison your offhand as well or is poisoning mainhand only?
