who wants jeans

Sure a cowboy hat, leather jacket, and blue jeans. I can dig it. As long as it has good damage resistance I'm all for it.

I don't see why you get to decide which way of playing an rpg is the 'right' way.
Role playing... not roll playing... Everyone should be playing it differently...
The fact that the developers included clothing, should be enough to understand that they intended for the players to 'dress-up' the characters.

As for whether or not jeans fit the setting:
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ian

Umm... An RPG is an RPG and no amount of complaining and petitioning for 4 different kinds of jeans is going to change that. Fallout 3 shared elements with games that allow you to dress up your character in detail, but it also shared elements with games that revolved around stealth play. The fact is, though, these aren't the core of the game- they're "extras", which is why they're not done in as much detail as in games that focus on certain aspects. Fallout is not Mr. Dressup: The Game, which is why there aren't so many choices of apparel. Similarly, Fallout is not Thief, which is why the stealth is nowhere near as detailed. The core of Bethesda's games is the exploration aspect, which is done best out of everything.

Nice but dont forget at heart Fallout is not Bethesda. Its the Survival dream inside each gamer, Modder and man child in spirit out there. Carry the fire. :fallout:

I should point out that there are over 100 different outfits and pieces of clothing in FO3....
But since you say we're not supposed to 'dress-up' then the developers were probably wrong.

I don't know how guys can wear skinny jeans. I see them worn by guys all the time, and I just can't stand to see it. I mean, really, stuff has to get smashed wearing pants that tight.

Any kind of jeans but skinny jeans, thank you very much!

100 outfits is nothing when you can't mix and match. There are games that let you set colours and have thousands of permutations of possible outfits. This is not one of Fallout 3's core features, and it wont be one of Fallout New Vegas's core features. I have no idea why you seem to think that it is, when obviously games like The Sims do it in so much more depth and detail (because it is a core feature in those games). We'll probably get some outfits with denim or denim-like materials in them, but that's all they're going to be. Don't expect a character dress-up sim with tens of jeans in a variety of colours.

Here's my train of thought:

RPG+dress up character to look FABULOUS (with variety of jeans)->dress up sim+combat

I'm opposed to this. Tight jeans and all the latest fashions don't belong in the game, just like ACR Bushmasters don't belong in the game.

That's fine, but I hope the New Vegas strip has some nice shoe stores.

I have no fashion sense and have never worn tight trousers.
But to fight over whether they should be in FO is even a tad ridiculous even for me.
Handbags..... now thats a different story.

This
we can agree on. I'm defending the reasoning behind wanting jeans in the game. Dungarees, ripped bootcuts, faded Levis...
I suspect that only a few people actually want skinnies and lowcut chick jeans in a variety of colors....
That being said... It's not unusual for people to represent their internal personality through external appearances, and as such, large numbers of clothing options go a long way towards representing 'role' playing...
Like when your partner dresses up in a nurses outfit for fun... That's roleplaying....
We have to keep in mind that video game rpg's are all the descendants of pen and paper rpg's, and while a living breathing GM can grant all sorts of options, pre-programmed games don't have that luxury... I understand you're reluctance to use up all the disc space on Roxy and Lulu Lemon jeans in a variety of hawt colors, but I doubt the developers are dense enough to include them simply because the forum dwellers request it.

nobody said it was going to be in the game just that they would like to have it in the game,
and nobody said it would be a "core" feature it would just be something theyd like to have.

Why? It's just an avatar. It uses Oblivion concept art and someone who works for that company that this is a forum of. Not far-fetched that anyone would use those things in an avatar on this forum. and I still don't get what you're saying. =/

Those aren't hotpants, they're just torn pants. Not even that short.
