Aren't the vault suits supposed to be made of denim?

How about just rolling down the top half of that?

Spandex, not denim. :P

I wouldn't mind basic "denim coveralls" or "clothing". What I do mind is when people want to play dress-up with their character and we get a bunch of uninteresting typical clothes. That's not what the game is for.

I'm not even going to vote :P jeans just wouldn't seem right. This isn't Saints Row or GTA and hopefully it never will be.

The original vault suits were spandex...but gamesas retconned them to be denim.

I know the first pic is a little small, but you've seen it before... so... and unless it's way oversized, there's no way the new suit is the same material.

EDIT
Heres a better pic of the original suit:

This game is about wearing shoulder pads made of tires and a helmet out of a fireman's mask. Stylish jeans would be ridiculous lol. I'm sorry but if I saw any enemy or npc wearing jeans I'd barf. (Maybe a cutoff vault suit?)

Yes they are....
While denim trousers originated in europe and ...um, India, I believe... the association with blue jeans and america dates back to the wild west era. popularized in the 50's by actors like James Dean, they are one of the most common types of clothing today. I don't know how old you are, but I remember times before the Berlin wall fell, when blue jeans were worth hundreds of dollars to people on the eastern side.
Both the Spainish and the Chinese refer to jeans as "cowboy pants".

But yes... Blue jeans+Gasoline+applepie=Americana

Like I said, if there's an outfit named "Cowboy pants" (or Cowboy attire, whatever) I wouldn't mind. But it seems dumb to make Fallout a dress simulator instead of a computer roleplaying game.

Having too much stuff can be harmful, too.

I want to stop you here before you have another "look" idea again but Fallout is not a dress up game it's nitty gritty maybe cool looking but not stylish.

Not really.

The only people you really saw trying to look nitty-gritty were the raiders. Super mutants aren't sound of mind, so they don't count. People like tenpenny and Eulogy are looking pretty snazzy. The 50s was kinda conformist.. I don't really see why the 50s culture would still be alive after the bombs fell without conformity.. part of the conformity is looking sharp, creased pants, suit, tie etc..

But anyway. I wouldn't mind jeans. It's cowboy-ish, since we're in the southwest-ish.. I probably won't wear them.

I'll stick my my planned rat-pack/mobster look. >:)

Outfits would be good. I don't want fallout to have every style of jeans ever made. I would like to have an outfit with a leather jacket and blue jeans.

:P I mean the style that is going to ever be in the game is already in it. Denim work jeans at the most any more and we'll have skaters around the wasteland. Wouldn't look forward to it.

I am sure Viviene Westwood could make jeans both stylish and suitable for a desert psycho wanting to look bloodthirsty and beautiful. In a bouncing babe bashing brains with a baseball bat motif.
I love alliteration.

When i play an rpg i expect it to have several types of armor\clothing in order to choose the most fitting, i have fun i trying out diff types so the more the better and jeans doesn't breack cannon i thinck since there was a leather jacket and jeans combination on the previous games so its possible.

Then you're not playing an RPG as an RPG, you're playing it as a doll simulator. They have games where you can customize your character's look in great detail, but Fallout is just not meant for that.

^^
I don't see why you get to decide which way of playing an rpg is the 'right' way.
Role playing... not roll playing... Everyone should be playing it differently...
The fact that the developers included clothing, should be enough to understand that they intended for the players to 'dress-up' the characters.

As for whether or not jeans fit the setting:
