Get your head out of the gutter! This is serious business!

But why would someone stick their head in a gutter? Most gutters are too small for someone to fit a head in there. Not to mention they're quite gross, filled with all sorts of unknowns from the land, and sometimes not from the land.

Your speech patterns are sounding awfully familiar there. Am I going to have to summon the Prince of Order to set you straight?

Psh, do not dare question the ramblings of a cultist of Chaos! Sometimes we like to muse. But now that I thought about it, gutters are a good place for your nurglings to live.

Speaking of old Jyggie, I wonder if he'll have a shrine quest in Skyrim. It's been 200 years. Long enough for him to attain cult worship throughout Tamriel since his return.

I suspect, but I have a feeling they'll be rather boring. They'll speak in completely ordered sentences, with a monotone voice, and their shrine will be in some flat area inside a grey box with perfect proportions.

His quests will probably involve cleaning up some ones trousers.
Not to speak of to keep clean on a daily basis or something.

Well, on a serious note: No, I'm fine with the current race selection.

I have no special attachment to the 10 number.

Races that I could see added that would also make sense as playable characters:
Some Khajiit subtypes. Ohmes, Ohmes-Raht, Suthay, Suthay-Raht, (stealth-based) Dagi and Dagi-Raht (magic-based) Cathay and Cathay-Raht (fighter-based). Others, like the Senche, Senche-Raht, Pahmer, Pahmer-Raht, Alfiq, and Alfiq-Raht are not of human form, and would probably only feature as NPCs.
Igma A humanoid race present in Tamriel. Not exactly sure why they haven't been featured. Bethesda is probably waiting for Elder Scrolls Aldmeri Dominion to introduce them...

I doubt daedra will ever be featured, and Maomer and Akaviri are too exotic to be featured without a game featuring them (an invasion perhaps, or a game taking place in their respective homelands. Sload are just not practical. Besides, they don't adventure.

That aside, there are always mods, and I would personally love to play a Sload. They are colorfully characterized and it would be tremendously fun role-playing a Sload-exile of some sort. Think "tremendously awkward", "hopelessly sociopathic", and "cautious beyond reason" all rolled up into the next do-good hero of Tamriel. Hopefully I'll be able to play them in the future. :cheat:

Go to so-and-so's bookshelf and reorder the books by color (Jyggalag doesn't care about silly things like time or alphabetacism, also he has OCD).

EDIT: Oh yeah I was gonna say that chances are Akavir characters won't happen for awhile, nor would I like them to be. They fulfill the role of the "other" civilization (east versus west in our real-world history) quite well, fitting in lore-wise with themes of light and darkness, is and is-not, Anu and Padomay, aedra and daedra, etc. So basically, the mystery of whether the Tsaesci are snakes or men (or both) (or vampires!) does more justice to the race (IMO) than a game could do.

"The dragons are back."
"Oh no, only the dragonborn can save us!"
Dragonborn: "I'll set a highly convoluted trap that in a kalpa or two, all the dragons will DIE!"
"But they're killing us now!"
"Short-term loss for long-term gain."
"But our country is getting devoured!"
"Look, do want this done, or do you want this done right?"
*CHOMP!*
*Crickets*
"And that's why I don't argue with people these days. They all get devoured before I can win the argument."

When I think of Sload, I think of Jabba the Hutt.

Bethesda had included the 10 prominent races of Tamriel as playable. The other races that are mentioned are not playable or seen, because usually they are exclusive to their home province, and they don't venture out of it. They should not suddenly include another playable race. That would pose questions like "Why are they suddenly appearing in Skyrim when we have never seen them anywhere before?" Their appearance would not fit into lore at all, similar to how the Orcs were suddenly civilized races in Morrowind.

I think the bigger problem would be why they would not show up in the next TES game. Just because a particular race is sentient and perhaps even populates the province the game is set in, if they aren't available throughout Tamriel, it doesn't make sense to make them playable. People will be upset if Bethesda takes away their race in the next game.

I am curious why people are always looking for new races to play. Are you unhappy with the races we have available now, or do you just have a desire to see something new added to each game? Personally, the current races give me enough options to explore the game, I don't see a need for any more, unless it was to play a unique experience, like getting to play a Chimer during the events of Red Mountain, or getting to play a Daedra and explore Oblivion, but then I wouldn't want to be able to use those races to play the regular part of the game.

Like I've said before, I'd rather have more distinctive races, so that it really has an impact on gameplay which race you are. We saw this a bit in Morrowind, where they would make jokes about your race and call you outlander. I like that, it reminds me of who I am (in the game) and creates atmosphere (even if you're just being discriminated).

I think I'll work this out a bit more and make a threat of it when I have enough ideas!

By the way, other races that we've seen before in lore and that have a reason to be in Skyrim are fine to me! But then as NPCs. Again, they should have a mission there and there should be a reason why they aren't dead yet (I think Nords are quick to kill what they don't know)

If they're playable, no. Imga belong in Valenwood, and Maomer are in Pyrondea. And Skyrim is too cold for a sload.

Ironically, you listed all the ones I was about to list. At the very least, the Imga would make a lot of sense to add as a playable beast race... If it was in Valenwood.

Andric, I agree, but only in Valenwood. Even then it's kind of iffy.

The question isn't whether any other races could be included (the beauty of being a fantasy RPG is that you could just add some random race and retcon them into the lore). The real question is whether another race is even needed, is there something the current races can no longer accomplish? if the races really are so boring that you want something new, then you should instead ask Bethesda to make character customisation even better so you could make your Character look different from the other races and pretend it's some new undiscovered race. It would probably be easier then having Bethesda make up some new race then come up with an excuse about how they were there the whole time but nobody noticed.

Happy to stick with 10 or add more

Seems the thing is that there are more races on Tamriel itself - they are in the books that we have been reading + there are loads of others on the other continients - we know about snake, tiger and such people who might be fun

plus there are also races thought to be extinct - like the monkey people

so that might be for a future ES

what we get from Todd's statement is that the PC is unlikely to be a dragon - unless a shapechaning ability / were-kind of transformation becomes possible = answers one of my questions

i hope to God they dont add any more pet races. kittens and lizards are enough. and monkey people...........ill go watch planet of the apes if i want that. do not turn this game into animal crossing. if they are going to add new races then let them be more exotic ones that cant be seen at a local zoo or pet shop.

the one thing they are missing is some sort of insectoid race..........if they have to put some lazy generic animal race in then why not do that....at least they can make them look freaky looking as hell.

Sub-species, yes. New races, no. Different types of Khajiit would be good enough in my eyes, but I'm not too keen on adding new races just for the sake of doing it. I haven't been too deep into TES lore lately, but I can't think of any races that would make sense adding and therefore I don't think that any should be added.
