A halberd can be seen in some of the concept art shown in the new Game Informer video: http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/4123/82225444.png
So it seems there's a good chance of polearms making it into the game. What I'd really like to see are one-handed spears, but those seem less likely (they'd probably require weapon-specific animations).
If it's got a point, edge, or striking surface, I want to add it to my collection. Bonus points if they double as utility, like a pickax, or look awesome.
Skyrim needs more weapons than Oblivion, not only for the player but for enemies too. They all seemed to only have swords, maces, and bows as physical weapons.
I'd really love it if they added spears back into the game again, but I'd love it more if they did it right. I hated that they only had 2 handed spears in Morrowind and I wish they'd add 1 handed spears to be used with shields in a sort of hoplite fashion. Crossbows, throwing weapons, and basically anything cut from Morrowind is welcome as well.
I saw a concept art drawing in the behind the scenes video with a halberd, so I'm very optimistic, but seriously, I would love spears, my Argonian Vanguard is counting on it.
I don't think there will be. There are only 18 skills, 3 less than Oblivion, which is quite a lack of variety.
Then you dont understand how skills work they could throw swords all together rather then list them as skill short swords, skill long sword, spears could fall under pole arm or throwable weapons, if they fall under pole arm I will be a little disappointed as that would probably mean you couldnt throw them like in morrowind
Spears are underated in fantasy games, I just hope that if they are included, the proper physics of pinning an enemy to something else is included. Shishkebobs of mudcrabs and cliff racers anyone? :hehe:
