Cyrodiil history puts Lamae Bal as the first vampire.

But that is only one of many theories. If anyone in Tamriel actually knows for certain how vampires came to be, they're not telling.

Either way, it sounds more like a fictional horror story.

... In Temple doctrine, one ancient tradition holds that, among his many other crimes, Molag Bal, the Father of Monsters, spawned the first vampire upon the corpse of a defeated foe. Several different versions of this story exist, with the foe variously identified as a Daedra Lord, a Temple Saint, or a powerful beast creature. This account of the origin of vampirism is peculiar to Morrowind, appearing nowhere else in Imperial lore. Unfortunately, scholarly inquiry upon this topic is discouraged by the Temple, which controls access to the only substantial collection of historical and cultural records in Morrowind.... - Vampires of Vvardenfell

Considering Molag Ball [censored] somebody, or something and turning it into a vampire seems to be the common story, the Lamae Bal is presumably just another variant on the theme.

Vampires them self however appear to be more related to Vearnima, mother of Nightmares.

At least it's not as boring as the other versions and it does sound alot like Bal to do something like this.

Yeah, they seem to be related to Vaernima in a way. I believe in the Morrowind Vampire quest she was even mentioned.

I would say Lamae Beolfag story is pretty neat, if not correct. But it really would vary based on region of the story's origin.

yes, when doing the cure for vampirism quest for molag bal when you return to him he says that it took him awhile to persuade Vaernima for the cure

I don't believe in its factuality because it portrays vampirism as causing you to act like Molag Bal, the when violent tendencies associated with vampirism are more due to the urge to feed, although it is possible that it is a variation of what actually happened.

"Violent tendencies" and 'urges." Put two and two together. feeding is a kind of violation, isn't it?

Even before the Vampy Lair plugin I always figured they'd started in Skyrim. It's just the kind of monstrous place to breed a terribly powerful monster.

There are different types of urges. The strongest one in vampires is the urge to feed; that is what drives them.

As for terribly powerful monsters, Skyrim still probably has werewolves.

Thanks for all the feed back, you guys have help me understand this much more.It seems Bal did this for an ultimate punishment on an opponent if I am reading your feed back correctly. As far as werewolves,I think the Vampire would be worse sleeping next to you, however it seems Vampires still have some degree of morality left in them. Were as the werewolf has none.

Depends on how you see it. A Werewolf might know what he does but cant do anything to resist it, as if a parasite is inside you and taking over your actions.
