Who will replace the Adoring Fan?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:56 pm

If you look on youtube there are thousands of videos of people killing the adoring fan in various different ways.

In TESV it is likely that the trend will continue, but with a different character.

What im asking is what people want this character to be like and why they would pick on them.

Well, I think it should be a Bosmer again. Keep the tradition going.

"I have a feeling that you and I, are going to become...VERY close..."
--Fargoth

It's amazing how everyone decided to be immature and interpret that as something nasty. Since then, the male Bosmer have only become progressively more and more unrealistic as characters, and more and more annoying. It's a cute running gag, but I wish it to end or at least only apply to one or two NPCs in TES V.

That is to say, I think, especially if this is up in Skyrim, a wandering merchant would be a very good candidate - he could come off as an annoying con-artist to you at first, then proceed to lose his caravan, go into a spiralling depression, enter a drunken rage, destroy all of Winterhold, and then...ah, forget it.

I hate the comic relief characters, they seem to JRPGish to me.

Another tragic comedy, huh? I'm thinking a bosmer jester/ clown/ circus performer that just escaped from the SI would fit the bill. For some reason I kinda view all bosmer as clowns with a short stature.

I think that the next npc to replace the Adoring Fan should have a little more use, like actually fighting.

Or the ability to fly. At least then he would be useful for practicing your Marksman and Destruction skills on moving targets.

I agree, it must be a Bosmer. Keep the tradition going. Most of us hated Fargoth, Gaenor, and The Adoring Fan. The NPC's I love to hate are all Bosmers. And I have never, ever played one.
The next one better be a little hottie, though. Cool looks, cool weapons, and eager to kick butt. Not a flaming Hershey's Kiss hairdo - and I don't want the next one to run and hide whenever an epic fight breaks out.

It's quite obvious that quite a few people are angry over Beth's odd turn with the Bosmer's, i think that we should bring back the OLD bosmers, i'm talking about the Daggerfall bosmers, their general personality should return, but i don't mind if there was a couple of characters from each race that had this annoying NPC trait (except khajiits, thats Maiq's territory), however as a reminder of past TES games, i think that we should give the bosmers the most annoying character like the annoying fan, it's really not as bad as it sounds, in oblivion i've had about 5 playthroughs without encountering any of the stupid characters (except when i went into the SI) so it' ok to have funny/annoying characters, but make it more generalized this time, cut the bosmers some slack :)

I love the annoying woodelf tradition, even though I always play a woodelf :D

Give them a little less health, make them like Flin the bard in the gamers 2: dorkness rising

I'm not sure. But they will make some sort of nod to the Adoring Fan in ES V.

The brothers of the AF and Gaenor. That would be so cool IMO. Or a female bosmer for the male bosmer that i plan to make in TES 5.

Weren't bosmer originally crazed tree dwelling conibal elves, who turn into frightening monsters, and partake in grotespue rituals? No more of coarse, now they're vagualy homosixual little fruits that can't fight, who's only useful ability is to give you a backrub. Where did Bethesda go wrong?

Personally, I take pity on their insults by usually making at least one Bosmer assassin to exemplify a slice of Bosmeri badassery in the world. He works to right the scales for the justice of the Bosmer everywhere.
Srsly though, Bethesda does need to stop scapegoating a whole race into the comic relief category. It gets old and it ruins their potential.

A Bosmer, of course, but make him a slick cool guy, that always brags about not being afraid of anything, and wears heavy armor, but at first sight of combat he runs.

The respectful tag-along. Except this time its an orc. And instead of fighting, he just follows you and says that he respects the enemies choice for attacking you and does nothing to stop it. And that's all he says.

Seriously it would be nice for it to stop.

I prefer it when the annoying characters are slightly mad, as in the case of Gaenor. It's nice to have those little side-things that turn into little bits of hilarity (and in the case of Gaenor, the most difficult battle in the whole game).

I'd rather not have anything too involved though--adoring fan was a bit too much.

I think the Adoring Fan should be a bard, and actually sing songs about you. The YouTube links I wanted are down, so this will have to do:

Brave Sir Robin ran away.
Bravely ran away away.
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.

Yeah, something like that. I would adore the adoring fan if he followed you around singing like this. But then I would probably have to turn around and eat my minstrels.
