Who will support a fallout-like game?

Post » Wed Apr 08, 2009 10:54 am

To be honest, 10 years until Bethesda's release of Fallout 3 is too long. We have been waiting and hoping and wish to play a sequel to Fallout 1 & 2. And now we MUST play Fallout 3 to 'feed our hunger'. I said 'must' because I know not many fallout fans like the way Bethesda design Fallout 3 which is a FPS-like game. But gamesas must understand that we still love Fallout 1 & 2 so much and if you guys have any similar projects to Fallout 1 and 2 we will support you. Please give your opinions.

I can't imagine a person who wouldn't support a true, 'spiritual' successor to Fallout. ;)
As for F3, personally I consider it a spinoff with a bad name, but that's not the subject here.

I think Bethesda did a good job keeping fallout 3 true to the origanols but im always down for more fallout so i support this idea. Also i hope gamesas releases more info on the fallout MMO they are making.

I support Fallout-like games. Hopefully we will see a couple more from gamesas through their clause in the contract with Bethesda.

I would just like to state that I think Fallout 3 is a good effort by Bethesda, and it's an enjoyable and refreshing perspective on things. I managed to get a hold of the leaked Van Buren tech demo, and to be honest, I was a little dissapointed that it retained the isometric overhead playstyle. I believe that Bethesda's choice of using 1st person allows for a more immersive experience, and I hope that gamesas chooses to retain this in Project V13. That said I should also state that I am a Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fo:T fan as well: great games, very fun, and even addictive. I just don't think that 'kicking a dead horse' so to speak, is great way to keep people coming back for more; example: some of the command and conquer games; I found the gameplay became unimpressive after the first couple of iterations, there weren't really any new mechanics or surprises, just 'new units' and updated graphics. Yes the games sold, and yes they were fun, but I for one am interested in seeing gamesas come back with ProjectV13 in the same vein as the original release of the Fallout IP: a fresh, unique and quirky creation that enthralled so many and spawned multiple sequels/IP spin offs.

What I really mean to say is: please try to stay away from making ProjectV13 as "Fallout with WoW or Everquest" elements. Please be bold, be weird with it, don't be afraid to completely break the MMO mold as we know it, because frankly they all feel the same to me, albeit, with different graphic art and story elements. They're fun, but they become monotonous, tedious, and dull. Please make more out of this than just a "Fallout fan-base cash-cow".

Regardless of my hopes and fears for V13, I believe that whatever executive choices are made by the V13 Team for this new "Fallout-like" experience, it will be a very interesting use of the IP. I wish the Project V13 Team all the best, and can't wait to learn of new developments.

I'd have to slightly disagree. I mean kudos for yes making a 3D world of fallout (though the original team could've done it but didnt seem fit for them and both views are fine with me). It just seems to me though Bethesda really tried too hard. I mean you got Fallout 2 that was a pure sequel game play wise that didn't change much but story. Bethesda then in turn loosely basing itself on Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics its seems they couldnt wait to throw it all out in your face every second!

::Spoiler:: There is a point when you talk to the overseer of 101 later on in the game and guess what? He tells you that you have changed and you have to leave and never return hmmm.... Fallout's ending?! Sorry but that move to me was a drag. Bringing back dogmeat? Would be great as a cameo like in Fallout 2 but Dogmeat is long gone story wise. Then you have the little bits that came from fallout 1 and 2 that haunt you every second you go and its like.. "OKAY OKAY I GET IT! ITS FALLOUT!" Mostly the fans are playing this title so no need to cram it down our throats.

I have already stated my views of this game all over the net specifically about the change of the game play setup such as throwing and explosives being rolled into one or first aid and doctor. Not to mention the skills are passive which bugs the crap out of me! I miss the old days of seeing a locked door full of fun toys and noticing my skill was only 20% and yet the system would still let me try. It was like the game saying... "oh sure go ahead, knock yourself out kid." Now we are plagued with the stupid, "You Need 100% in Lockpick Skill."

And again with the cramming of Fallout terms down our throats in weird ways such as their new use of SPECIAL or calling the soon to be editor GECK. Ugh... again they tried too hard.

Over all what burns me up the most is how the game is poorly programmed. I mean why do I need an extremely top end computer to play this game in its true colors? Poor programming. The whole thing is programmed in .net which is bloaty and lazy code if you ask me.

Anyways the game gets kudos in certain aspects but even though as it was stated "it feeds the hunger" deep down we all know its not Fallout 3.

P.S. Yet again using the term VATS as the classic Targeting System which is flawed cause there is no Groin Shot! Shame on you Bethesda! If I want to castrate my enemy I believe I should have the right! gamesas believed!

And gamesas believed (in US versions) that sometimes pesky children just had to kiss the ground and sprout angelic wings. Bethesda does not believe in this and thus creates a major imbalance in the game. All I'll tell you is if you get to Little Lamp Light, do NOT I repeat DO NOT tick off any of the children. If you do prepare for a city of God Children ready to devour your very soul!

This web pages explains my views much better... http://s0rethumbs.com/Media/how-bethesda-butchered-fallout-3.html Image
I told the Overseer of Vault 13 I'd give everything to save everyone, and so I did, I saved them all. Since then I've felt loneliness.

nope I would not support a Fallout like game. I will however support a good rpg/game. If V13 turned out to be the worst MMO in existence I would not play it. I doubt that will happen though.

Though since Inteprlay is done with Fallout except for V13. I would like to see them do a Tribe 8 esque action rpg or Fallout sandbox rpg.
