Who will be the assassin type guild in the next Elder Scroll

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 7:49 pm

I think the Dark Brotherhood will not make a return in the next game because they have dwindled down to the small sanctuary that is left in Skyrim and that is it; so I feel that it would take a lot for them to make a comeback and be feared again. Who will be the new assassin type guild? I believe there is two possibilities:

1) The Morag Tong returns in the next one or

2) Bethesda makes a whole new group which could be cool, but could prove problematic.

What do you guys think?

I'd bet on the Morang Tong, simply because they are a well known organisation that have been around for a long time. Although, a new Assassin's guild coming from a land far away wouldn't be out of the question.

...the dark brotherhood is not dead, the dawnstar sanctuary is just the last one left in SKYRIM, not the world..

Well, there are many dynamic decisions the dragonborn could take in his adventures, and the dark brotherhood failing is one of them. I believe that the dark brotherhood might grow again, because they are now feared once again by the end of the questline. I'm 50/50 on whether or not we'll join them again. I never liked them to begin with because they quite literally work for satin. I wouldn't mind being a government agent, but perhaps a vampire assassins that are against the Dark Brotherhood from Oblivion's Vile Lair DLC or maybe simply a hitman group. Personally, I'd rather be in a clan of assassins/ninjas than a part of a psychopathic cult.

I don't remember where in the game, I think it was one of the loading screen tips, but it says that the Pine Forest sanctuary is the last Dark Brotherhood sanctuary in all of Tamriel and when that one gets destroyed and you move to Dawnstar that makes the Dawnstar one the last one and it has very few people.

The Morag Tong could make a return, but a new Assassin's Guild containing good lore would be awesome, too.
Although, you can't really be certain that the Dark Brotherhood won't be around next installment. In the Elder Scrolls world, anything is possible. (Well, almost anything. )

And while I hate to be "that guy", I feel that this topic is better discussed in the http://www.gamesas.com/forum/26-the-elder-scrolls-series-discussion/section.

yes it is tamriel. I saw it just now when i was playing
besides..based on the events in the lore, the bruma, cheydinhal, elsweyr santuaries are destroyed and the keeper makes its way to the last DB hideout, in skyrim.

It will be something from Sumerset isles. Anybody else noticed that the high elves are slowly taking over every aspect of Tamriel society including the underworld?

Thank you for figuring it out.
So because that is the last in Tamriel I think it will be hard for them to become a big organization again and become feared like they were.

The Morang Tong operated in Morrowind. Though many Dunmer emigrated after the eruption of Red Mountain and the Argonian invasion, I don't see the MT building up a noteworthy presence all over Tamriel.

Besides that:
Spoiler

The DB certainly isn't dead. They have rebuilt in the Dawnstar Sanctuary. And they've done some pretty noteworthy things recently, like assassinate the Emperor.
Nor is Sithis very likely to really let the DB die in the future, as long as they stay true.

Also:
It depends on where we go in the next TES sequel. Some provinces can have pretty noteworthy assassin guilds of their own.

The Dark Brotherhood, because they have been able to survive every single supposed extermination of the brotherhood for hundreds (or perhaps thousands) of years. They are resilient, cunning, and ruthless and outlasted the Morag Tong

Are we guessing at the next game will take 5 or 500 years after the events of Skyrim? Cause that can make a difference.

It will be beyond a mortal's lifespan.

Similar to how the issue of who wins the civil war will probably be solved by the Thalmor taking over, I think the problem of does the Dark Brotherhood get killed by the PC in Skyrim will be solved by saying "Scholars don't know exactly when or how, but the Dark Brotherhood's last sanctuary in Skyrim was wiped out some time around 4E200".

DB can easily rebuild in the time to the next game, but i'd love Morag Tong to come back. So much so, i want it as DLC in Skyrim. Do many dunmer emigrated here, caould easily have an underground base of operations in Hlaalu farm.

Lore will probably say "Pine Forest was wiped out, everyone believed them gone, but they returned and killed the emperor". It fits with both options in the game.
