Who won the Skyrim Civil War?

Post » Sun May 19, 2013 1:46 pm

Now that Bethesda is well and truly finished with Skyrim they should tally up the Civil War achievements from all the platforms and release which faction the majority of players choose to side with in the civil war. I think the chosen result of the civil war should influence future Elder Scrolls games.

My moneys on Ulfic.

I actually think that's a really cool idea, OP, whether they do it or not. Naturally, I'd hope for the Stormcloaks cause I tend to favor them over the Empire.

Either way though, I hope we get to take the fight to the Thalmor in some way in the next game.

Neither.

After long trial and error, merciful Hevnoraak, Holy Priest of Valthume, master of the Reach and rightful heir to the Snow Throne rises to power. After breaking free of Evil Valdar's wicked spell, Hevnoraak lead an http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/541829948861584228/471A1544ADE0AB9DAA3214CCEBC9DC55FC449216/ to retake the beloved land of Skyrim from the savage nords that infest it. The war concludes in victory when both Ulfric, savage king and Tullius, wicked General are publicly tortured and executed for all to see. He then restores the ancient Nordic ways and ushers forth an era of prosperity to the modern day Nords.

And now, the story of merciful, wise, and just Hevnoraak is told to children for inspiration and as a source of good morals. In which they learn the truth of Valdar's trickery, and how good eventually overcomes evil. Finally, they learn the importance of revering the true Chief of Divines - Alduin, Firstborn of Akatosh.

Thank you. Wow that was fast, I just put that up. Yea I'm done with these at least for a while. All I'll say is I doubt either side will be canon, and leave it at that.

I will say this, they probably won't even reveal the winner. Probably some obscure thing like "Hear they had a war up on Skyrim. Pretty nasty from what I hear"

Probably right, since the next game is most likely gonna continue the trend of being set in a different province. Still, I hope that there will be Thalmor to fight in it. lol

There will definitely be some Thalmor, we barely got a taste of them.

No doubt all Empire and Stormcloak supporters will want to murder them.

Most likely outcome, judging by Bethesda's earlier habits when dealing with these things, is that both sides win. I personally think that the canon ending will be something like this: the Dragonborn takes no sides in the war, and negotiates the truce with equal terms at High Hrothgar. The truce holds as both sides build their strength. However, the Dominion jumps the Empire, starting the Second Great War. The Empire offers Ulfric the crown of Skyrim on the condition that Skyrim remains a province of the Empire - not as a subject, but as an equal to Cyrodiil. Ban on Talos worship is lifted in the Empire as holding it is no longer necessary. Ulfric honors his side of the treaty and sends the Stormcloaks to fight in the Legion.

Both sides win. Ulfric gets the crown and Talos is legalized. The Empire maintains Skyrim as its province and has the Stormcloaks at its disposal (though perhaps commanded by their own officers). Thalmor is driven out of Skyrim, which is something that both sides were itching to do.

I like this. Perhaps it'll be more specific in a book.

It's fairly evident that Skyrim was leading up to a future second war between the Empire and the Thalmor. The Civil War in Skyrim could either make or break the Empire. Although it's entirely possible that Bethesda will side step the issue of who won the Civil War, I think if they do it would be lazy writing.

It will probably end up favoring both sides or none and the story will be told through a book in the next TES.

How is it lazy writing? They are making it so that no victory is canon therefore making it so that part of the fan base isn't pissed off. (Most polls show that there are, usually, more Empire supporters compared to Stormcloak, they just aren't in the civil war debates.)

If I were Beth I'd make it so that no side truly won so that a large chunk of the fan base isn't pissed from making their opponent's win canon.

Likely there will be some sort of truce between the two and the Dominion will have started their 2nd Great War.

(Oh and Hevonraak is still a dead old man who won't be able to do anything because he's been killed by some lone wanderer.)
