Who would survive longest in the Courier's shoes? #3

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 11:23 pm

I was hurting for ideas for a new DiD playthrough when, suddenly, I had a brilliant idea. What about a playthrough using the stats of another character from the series? (now I know that idea isn't original or brilliant, but it gets better, don't worry) Then I couldn't decide which character's stats to use. I thought of all the toughest, most survivable characters from the series - Tycho, Joshua Graham, Frank Horrigan, et cetera - when I thought, why not try all of them? (well, not Horrigan cause his primary stats are all 10)

So that's where this challenge comes in. I provided a list below of some candidates for characters from the series and their main statistics. Anyone who wants to take on this challenge should pick one character from the list that they want to role-play and post that you want to take that character in this thread. First post, first serve. If someone takes Joshua Graham before you do, too bad. Pick someone else. The purpose of this is to see how well certain characters would fare if they found themselves in the Courier's shoes (shot in the head outside of Goodsprings). So basically, you take a certain character's stats and build a character from them, then you play the game and make decisions in a way that you think that character would make them. Then we see who lasts the longest before they die.

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1359249-who-would-survive-longest-in-the-lone-wanderers-shoes/page__pid__20498324#entry20498324

The Rules:
  • This is Dead is Dead, so when you die, post it here and abandon that character.
  • Everyone must play the game on Hard difficulty.
  • hardcoe mode is also necessary for this challenge.
  • Try, to the best of your abilities, to make decisions like the character you are playing as would make. If you are playing as Caesar you probably won't wear Power Armor and wield a Gatling Laser. Instead, try to wear Legion armor of any kind and use melee/unarmed/guns (his tag skills)
  • The main challenge in this is that you don't get to pick your own custom stats, you have to work with the stats and character you pick here and figure out how to make it work for as long as possible without dying. So do that. If you have Joshua Graham and his tag skills are Barter, Guns, and Repair; don't tag them at the beginning and then put all your skill points into energy weapons and sneak after that, stick with the character's strengths.
  • If you have any suggestions for other characters that you want me to add to the list, let me know, and if I can find their stats I'll add them. But you can only have one character at a time, so choose wisely.
  • This is first come, first serve. If someone picks a certain character before you do, you will have to pick a different character. Each character can only have one person playing as them, so if I pick Tycho then no one else can pick Tycho.
  • Not every character has the same amount of stats given, for example, one character's Crit. Chance may be given while another's is not - the more stats given means the less stats you get to control/customize, and thus the more challenging that build will be.
  • Some characters will have more SPECIAL points than are available at the beginning of the game, if that is the case then figure out how to make it work with implants later. If that still doesn't work than make it as close as possible to that characters actual SPECIAL.
Awards:

If you complete the game's main quest your play-through will be considered "completed" and a trophy will be placed next to your character's name. Inside the spoiler tag, I will put whatever level your character was at when he/she completed the main quest. I will also write any DLCs that you complete next to your character's name in fancy gold letters, so post whenever you complete any DLCs. Other than emoticon trophies and gold letters, you also receive bragging rights and the envy of all the envious people who might be participating in the challenge.

I'll add to this list if anyone suggests other viable characters. Also, try to make the character you create look like whoever you are modeling it after. If possible, take screen shots and post them so we can see who makes the best lookalikes.

**New Announcement**

Character Logs

If you kept a detailed account of your character's adventures throughout the course of these threads (i.e. how I posted about Caesar's adventures quite often) then feel free to gather all of those posts (in order) into one big post, put it in spoiler tags, and then post it in this thread so that I can add it to this section of the opening post. This will make it easy to access a log of your character's exploits, and it might provide an interesting read for others who are wondering what a playthrough with -insert character here- would be like.

I'll try to gather my posts for Caesar and put them here as an example as soon as possible.

The Adventures of Anders, a Great Khan Drug Runner - The Lobotomite
Spoiler

1-
Spoiler

After a quick use of the wiki, I'm going to choose Anders. The Great Khan Anders, not the NCR Ranger one though you could add him to the list as well if you want.
His stats are this:
S-6
P-5
E-4
C-3
I-3
A-7
L-5
This adds up to 33 which gives me 7 extra points. He's a mostly successful scout so I would assume that he would have a degree of Intelligence and higher Perception and he's a Great Khan so I would assume that he would have higher Endurance.
Taking this into account I think would change it to this:
S-6
P-7
E-7
C-3
I-5
A-7
L-5
His tagged skills are Guns, Melee Weapons and Energy Weapons. I have no idea why he would have experience in Energy Weapons so I think I'll change this to Survival. I'll start when I get back to the Mojave, which should be soon.

Let me know what you think Tycho.
2-
Spoiler

I've started my playthrough with Anders and so far things are going very well.

I convinced the people of Goodsprings to defend themselves against the Powder Gangers, but I stayed out of the combat to see which side had the more formidable warriors. Goodsprings triumphed and celebrated as I looted the corpses of the dead.

I then headed north to find the grave of Chance to see what I could scavenge. I traveled far west of the road so I would not encounter the Cazadores there. After I looted Chance's Knife and his armour I headed south towards Primm. Before I reached the town I changed into some Wasteland clothing so the NCR would not recognize me.

After easily clearing the town of weakling convicts with my Varmint Rifle and Chance's Knife, I entered the Vikki and Vance casino and spoke to the representative of the town. He told me that the person who could help me find the Vegas boy was being held by more convicts inside the Bison Steve Hotel across the street. I'm just about to enter and deal with the ineffective convicts inside.
3-
Spoiler

Anders is still doing well. He cleared Primm of convicts and even refrained from killing Beagle through incredible willpower that was beaten into him when he became a Great Khan. He made Meyers the Sheriff and managed to get him a pardon from the Mojave Outpost, though he again had to use his will to not gut that NCR Major with his knife. He can't afford to make too many enemies so soon and he would never be able to get out of the camp alive. He also helped the Powder Gangers of NCRCF and has learned of the one who instigated the breakout: Cooke. He'll keep an eye out for him.

Anders then traveled south toward Nipton and finally saw the power of the Legion. A small squad managed to annihilate an entire town without any casualties, perhaps with their help the Great Khans could finally get revenge against the NCR for Bitter Springs. After leaving Nipton he ambushed a group of bandits who would have ambushed him if he had given them the chance. The road then headed north and Novac is nearly within sight. When I left him he had just entered the town and rented a room in the motel.
4-
Spoiler

Anders left Novac without helping that former NCR soldier in whatever mission he needed done, he managed to get the information off of his terminal. After heading south he stopped off at a rest stop at the 188 and there he met a woman with a Power Fist. She asked if she could come along with him so she could see how different groups in the Mojave survive. Anders could appreciate this so he agreed.

It was at the 188 that his patience with the NCR finally snapped. The corruption of the NCR has spread all over the Mojave and with the help of Veronica's Power Fist and Chance's Knife, Anders killed the NCR troopers stationed there. This did not go over well with the female Gunrunner and the trader named Samuel so he killed them too. After looting what he could and selling it to Alexander, he headed south towards Boulder City.

When he reached the husk of the town, he learned that the other Great Khans were in a stalemate with a squad of NCR troopers. This would not do. Using his modded Varmint Rifle, Anders killed the lieutenant guarding the gate. He entered and killed the rest of the NCR squad with That Gun, Veronica and the Great Khans. After getting the information he needed from Jessup and Benny's lighter, he headed north towards New Vegas. He's now level 8.
5-
Spoiler

I guess I should probably give an update on Anders.

I've decided to do an Independent playthrough because as a Khan he hates the NCR for Bitter Springs, he hates Mr. House for pushing the Great Khans out of the Vegas area and he has learned the treachery of the Legion(partially by talking to people and partially by freeing himself). I'll make the rest of this as short as I can.

After the incident at Boulder City he headed north towards New Vegas, meeting no resistance until he reached the Sharecropper farms. I kept him a ways to the east of the farms so I wouldn't have to fight a crap load of NCR, but I was fired upon by a squad of troopers that I hadn't seen patrolling which brought the attention of the troopers guarding the farms. It took many bottles of Sunset Sarsaparilla, many 5.56mm rounds and a shot each of Med-X, Psycho and Buffout, but Veronica and Anders made it through the fight. There must have at least 10 dead troopers(two named) and three dead farmers(one named). That was a difficult fight.

After the farms I took Anders up to the Gunrunner's to replenish his ammo and sell the loot. Then we went into Freeside, into the Strip and into the Tops. There I used the evidence to convince Swank to give Anders back his weapons and told him to send Benny to his room alone. I found him there, we spoke a few words and Anders killed him with Chance's Knife before he managed to stand up. After meeting Yesman he left the Tops and was stopped by the Legion spy he met in Nipton.

Anders went south to Cottonwood Cove and saw himself crucified in front of the camp, it was this that convinced him to continue with Yesman's plan. After taking the raft to the Fort and speaking with Caesar, he went down into the Securitron Vault. He had seen the power of the Legion, the NCR and New Vegas and he knew that the Great Khans could never drive them all out. Anders was going to use the upgraded Securitron army to drive them all out so that his tribe could grow strong again. Caesar believed that Anders had destroyed them all so he allowed him to leave, believing that Anders was working for him.
6- A few posts shorter posts in here-
Spoiler

I doubt that I'll be doing Dead Money any time soon, though Anders is at level 14 and I am considering Honest Hearts at some point soon.
----------------------------------
I have to make a slight confession. Anders is still going strong and he has just rescued Raul from Black Mountain, but I felt the need to get Jury Rigging so for the last few levels I have been dumping skill points into Repair which isn't one of his Tagged skills. Though his Guns skill is full, Melee Weapons is at 80 and Survival is also at about 80(these Sunset Sarsaparilla's are better then Stimpaks!). I felt that him being a scout, he would have to know how to repair his weapons with very little resources.

Plus I get antsy when I don't have Jury Rigging. I'm getting antsy enough without Lucky.
----------------------------------
Anders had his first run-in with an NCR Ranger Hit Squad today when he was on his way to Nellis. They warned that I had three days to change my act. I let them get a distance away then sniped two of them with my fully modded Hunting Rifle and with the help of Veronica(with the Embrace of the Mantis King! and T-45d Power Armour) and ED-E(not upgraded) we made short work of the other two.
----------------------------------
Anders has finally shown his true colours to the Legion. He dropped several barrels of radioactive waste into their base at Cottonwood Cove and destroyed Nelson. It feels good to be hated by both major factions.
7- The following concerns Honest Hearts and the Lonesome Road-
Spoiler

Anders is in Zion and has almost died a couple times though the wildlife is fairing much worse then the scout. I have now found out insanely powerful the combination of the Cowboy perk, the Hand Loader perk and the Medicine Stick is. With 45-70 SWC rounds I'm doing over 115 damage per shot. Combine all of this with Better Criticals equals a one shot kill while Hidden against a Giant Cazadore. Despite this the combination of the packs of Yao Guai and randomly spawning White Legs has almost spelt the end of the Great Khan Scout.
----------------------------------
Honest Hearts has been completed!

I opted to destroy the White Legs and let Graham kill Salt Upon Wounds. Anders now leaves Zion with Daniel's Hat, Joshua Graham's Armour and the Survivalist's Rifle.
----------------------------------
I'll be heading into the Divide pretty soon and after that it'll be straight to Hoover Dam. I'm leaving out Dead Money and Old World Blues out of this playthrough because recently I've been having a strong craving to play GTA IV. I'll post how my adventures down the Lonesome Road go.
----------------------------------
I am well into the Divide and I am starting to remember why it is one of the most difficult DLC's. The fully upgraded SMMG with hundreds of 10mm JHP rounds is quickly becoming my best friend. I'm at level 30 and have just exited the Cave of Abaddon. Killing that damn Tunneler Queen and all of her minions was one of the most difficult and sphincter-clenching battles of this entire playthrough, but after 1 Med-X, 1 Psycho, 1 Steady, my SMMG, about 300 10mm JHP rounds, ED-E and about 7 bottles of Sunset Sarsaparilla I got through it.
8- Hoover Dam-
Spoiler

Rejoice! For anarchy has come to the Mojave!

I've finished Lonesome Road by killing Ulysses and launching nukes at both the Long 15 and Dry Wells and I've gotten both the Scorched Sierra Power Armour and the Armour of the 87th.

I completed Hoover Dam with a fully upgraded SMMG, 1000 rounds of 10mm JHP ammo, Old Glory, the Independent Duster and the Marked Beast Tribal Helmet. Cass had the Scorched Sierra PA, the Medicine Stick and 300 rounds of 45-70 Govt. SWC rounds. ED-E had three Camarad-E upgrades and the upgraded weapon from the Follower's.

I brought anarchy, thus making the Mojave an easier target for the Great Khans, by shutting down the generators of Hoover Dam. Both Lanius and Oliver were killed with Old Glory.
9- Post Completion-
Spoiler

It(Long 15) definitely seemed more difficult then Dry Wells. I managed to beat it with this setup:

Me: CZ57 Avenger - 1000 5mm AP rounds(went through nearly all of them)
Independent Duster

Cass: Medicine Stick - 300 45-70 SWC rounds
NCR Ranger Combat Armour/Helmet(Hitmen have given me so many of these)

ED-E: 3 levels of the Camarad-E perk and the Follower's damage upgrade

Add on taking a mix of Buffout, Psycho, Steady(unbelievable combo with the Avenger ), Med-X, Rad-X, many bottles of Sunset Sarsaparilla and an as of yet unknown quantity of Radaway. It was still one of the toughest fights of the game, but that Sierra Scorched PA looks so badass on Cass.
----------------------------------
(In response to Tycho)
I would definitely say that the Cave of Abaddon was the most difficult fight I had in my playthrough, it is the closest I have been to death. As a Great Khan scout Anders would have no inhibitions about consuming a mass assortment of chems, but I don't think Caesar would go in for that. Bring lots of every kind of health restoring agent you have, use the Flare Gun liberally and don't let them surround you under any circumstances. Good luck.

The Adventures of Caesar - Tycho the wanderer (WIP)
Spoiler

Backstory-
Spoiler

Here's the back story of how Caesar ended up shot in the head outside of Goodsprings:

Caesar cloned himself. How? He's the son of Mars. He can do whatever the hell he wants. Anyways...he sent his clone into the Mojave with the intent of having him bring back information about the various small settlements and towns in the Mojave and which ones would assimilate well into the Legion. Why didn't he just send a frumentarius to do it? Because they're busy scouting out the NCR, and their opinion on which settlements would assimilate well into the Legion could be different than Caesar's, and his opinion is what matters.

In order to carry out his mission without looking suspicious, Caesar's clone joined up with a Courier group and was assigned to deliver a package. Outside of Goodsprings, he was ambushed, tied up, and shot in the head by some weirdo in a checkered business suit. Now he's out for revenge - while still trying to scout out the various settlements of the Mojave.

Caesar decided to get involved with Goodspring's powder ganger problem in order to see how capable the townspeople were when it came to fighting. They will be part of the Legion someday, and some of them might make good Legionaries. Caesar convinced everyone to hide and ambush the fighters, promising a profligate named Ringo that he would help him during the fight. Instead, Caesar retreated to gas station and watched the fight play out, and to his surprise not a single resident of Goodsprings was killed by the time the fight was over. Caesar determined that many of the younger settlers would make good legionaries someday, and he made note to not forget about the small ghost town when it came time for his Legion to occupy the area.

After leaving Goodsprings, Caesar killed a few Powder Gangers along the road, and then came upon Primm. A profligate soldier was standing outside, and he had the nerve to tell Caesar that the town was off limits. Not knowing how many other soldiers were nearby, he decided to retreat to rifle range and hide so that he could kill the profligate without being noticed.

....

I'll post an update on Caesar tomorrow, to summarize, I made it to Novac today and stole That Gun. Now I'm headed for the 188. I'll post a more detailed update tomorrow, including screen shots.

....

Caesar decided that Primm was insignificant to the greater goals of the Legion - and his own goals of getting revenge on the profligate who shot him back in Goodsprings. After passing by Primm, Caesar fought through small bands of raiders until he reached the bottom of a large hill, on top was a large NCR base- their entrance into the Mojave. Caesar kept moving toward Nipton, and it wasn't long before he noticed a heavy, black smoke rising from the small settlement. As he neared the town, his lips curled into a smile; there, standing valiantly at the front of the burning town, was a Legion flag, the bull dancing against the red cloth, welcoming its master into his kingdom.

Caesar had pride in his steps as he walked into Nipton, passing crucified profligates and heading for the town hall, were a small group of Legionaries were gathered. As he neared them, Vulpes Inculta approached him, and Caesar was relieved to see his most talented fumentarius. After talking with Vulpes for a little while, Caesar had some of his men escort him to the road just south of Novac. Then he sent them away and made his way to the town of Novac, looking for information about the man in the checkered suit.

Caesar moved toward Nelson to meet up with the Legion occupiers there, but was stopped by an ignorant profligate who didn't even recognize the name "Caesar." After ignoring the fool's warnings, Caesar met up with Dead Sea and got a status report on the situation in Nelson. Satisfied with the Legion's progress in that area, Caesar went back to Novac and talked with a former NCR marksmen named Boone. He saw weakness in the profligate, sensing his desperation to bring justice to the person who sold his wife to the Legion. Caesar found the best armed man in town, a man named Manny Vargas who was armed with a hunting rifle, and had Boone shoot him. Then Caesar took the hunting rifle off of Manny's corpse and fled the scene, heading for the 188 trading post.

He met a profligate woman at the 188 who offered to travel with him. Caesar agreed, planning on using her as a meat shield in future fights. Sure enough, outside of the Gun Runner's compound, Caesar picked a fight with the Gun Runner guards. Veronica charged at them, taking the brunt of their hunting rifle fire, while Caesar came up from the back and killed them with his power fist. Veronica was killed during the fight, but he didn't care, she was, after all, nothing more than a profligate woman foolish enough to travel with him. Caesar proceeded to take guard's combat armor, then he attacked everyone on the inside of the factory, killing them all and looting an assault carbine and some 5mm rounds from their corpses. He traded the combat armor for a more advanced, reinforced version at the Gun Runner's kiosk, and then entered Freeside. While he would have preferred to wear Legion armor, Caesar knew he would be shot on sight in this area, and the reinforced combat armor would provide better protection when he faced Benny at the Tops Casino.

Caesar decided that the NCR's presence in Freeside needed to cease, so he took care of the problem with the help of a local gang.

After acquiring the 2000 caps necessary to enter the Strip, Caesar entered the city of New Vegas for the first time. He was immediately approached by the machine that had followed him all the way from Goodsprings and told to go see Mr. House in the Lucky 38 Casino. Caesar thought that meeting the mysterious "House" character would prove useful for learning his weaknesses, so he agreed to meet him before confronting Benny. Caesar learned that House's biggest weakness was the "Platinum Chip" that Benny had stolen, and so Caesar agreed to confront Benny and then bring the chip to House...but his real plans were far different.

Caesar walked into the Tops and convinced a man named Swank to let him keep all of his weapons while inside the casino- most importantly his power fist. Caesar confronted Benny, who was surrounded by body guards, and realized just how well the odds were stacked in Benny's favor. If Caesar killed Benny right here and took the Platinum Chip, House surely wouldn't let him leave the Strip until he handed the chip over - which, as far as Caesar knew, could make House infinitely more powerful and more of a threat to the Legion. So Caesar had to go along with the obvious trap that Benny was setting for him, and he agreed to go up to the Presidential Suite and wait for Benny to meet him there, although Caesar knew it would most likely be a hit squad meeting him there rather than Benny. Sure enough it was a hit squad, fortunately it was a weak one that Caesar wiped the floor with in 2 minutes flat.

Caesar investigated Benny's room and learned from a strange Securitron that Benny had fled the Strip with the Platinum Chip and headed to the Fort - and suddenly the odds shifted to Caesar's favor. Caesar hurried out of the Tops where he met Vulpes Inculta, who informed him that he was needed back at the Fort. Caesar left the Strip and made a stop at the King's headquarters in Freeside to get a favor that was owed to him, and to his surprise he found his old cyberdog companion that had been lost during a battle! The King, who led the local gang, called him Rex, and offered to give him to Caesar if he would take him to a scientist in Jacobstown for repairs. Caesar gladly took his old companion back, and then they headed off towards Cottonwood Cove.

...

After reaching the Fort, Caesar walked into his tent to find that Benny had already been captured and tied up. He took the Platinum Chip and forced Benny to tell him what it was used for, and once he knew about the bunker under the Fort he headed there to destroy whatever House was hiding. Despite House's outrage and threats, Caesar destroyed the Securitron army under the Fort, then returned to his tent and ordered that Benny be crucified as an example to others of what happens when anyone crosses Caesar. Ironically though, he was actually glad that Benny shot him in the head back at Goodsprings, since it strengthened his Legion's faith that he was actually the son of Mars. Caesar (technically Caesar's clone) then left the Fort once again and set off to make contact with a tribe know as "The Boomers."

Caesar just helped Captain Curtis blow up the monorail. In order to create a scapegoat for the incident, he placed incriminating evidence in Private Henshaw's footlocker and then murdered the private, making it look like he committed suicide. Caesar's next objective is to take Mr. House out of the picture, which will most likely be done by way of Power Fist.

...

Caesar made it to level 14 today and managed to make contact with the Boomers. He also helped Lucius repair a newly acquired Howitzer and later paid a visit to the Legion's safe house. Then Caesar set off to rid the world of Mr. House and make way for his Legion to take control of New Vegas.

1-
Spoiler

After a quick use of the wiki, I'm going to choose http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Anders.

Good luck.

Van Graff thug is alive and well at level 14. Still deciding whether to take on any DLC (I probably won't survive them) before Lonesome Road, which I intend to do around level 30-35. The most dangerous adventure so far has been storming Black Mountain, which got some nice loot. I'm just deciding what to do next.

Some other thoughts -

- I had originally wanted the AER14 Prototype, but because I can't put any points into Lockpick, I won't be able to get it any time soon. But then again, a fully modded Laser Rifle is immensely powerful, far more so than I had ever imagined. Its been my main weapon so far, and is likely to stay that way for some time.

- The New Vegas Plasma Rifle is WEAK. I had originally used it because, well, that's what Van Graff thugs carry, right? But no, its about the same level as a Cowboy Repeater, but with way more expensive ammo.

- With a poor Luck attribute, I'm having to loot and sell things to make money. No casino gambling this time around. Its tough, especially when I want powerful energy weapons.

- Veronica looks hot in figure hugging metal armour and fiend battle helmet.

Try to get the Q-35, it's far better than the regular plasma rifle, not to mention it looks really cool.

I know what you mean, It was killing me with the Caesar playthrough that I couldn't gamble at all. I had significantly less money than usual during that time around.

Okay started Col. Autumn playthrough.
Name: Augustus Autumn
Race: Caucasian Old (face imported from Fallout 3)
Starting equipment: None, added a suit of leather armor with console.
SPECIAL: 5-6-6-5-7-5 (thus 1 point lower than average Courier)
Tag: Guns, Energy Weapons, Speech. Fallout 3 Autumn had Big Guns instead of Energy weapons so I picked the latter since it fits him.
Mods: Dozens, namely Project Nevada (default settings), A World of Pain, WMX, Caesar's New Regime, EVE, Increased Wasteland Spawns and all the DLC.
Personal rules: No use of free-of-charge mod items (only ones bought for reasonable prices). No mod companions. No console except TCL if stuck. CASM set to save every 3 minutes in case of crash. Hard difficulty.

Note to self: STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM DEATHCLAWS. They are near invincible with PN. Fiends main source of energy weapons. Side with House for the sheer irony of working with a computer again.

I was in the same boat with the not-gambling thing, mainly because of my too low Luck, but that didn't affect my cap count too much. The most I had in my Anders playthrough was about 100k caps and that is all entirely from looting, scavenging and raiding. Jury Rigging and the NCR hit squads helped so much in this that at one point just after finishing Honest Hearts I had nearly 80k caps and two fully repaired NCR Ranger Combat Armours(7500 caps each). Just scavenge like hell, raid a few wanderers if it fits your character and get hated by either the NCR or the Legion.

This looks awesome, although playing DiD with Project Nevada running is extremely difficult, so be careful. (I died during the tutorial the first time I tried it.)

Yeah, that's pretty much what I did. The NCR was my biggest source of income with the Caesar playthrough, especially Veteran Rangers and Heavy Troopers.

Hmm, I wasn't planning on doing another DiD playthough for a while but I just feel the need to right now, since I haven't done an Energy weapons character ever (and I've had NV since release, can you believe it?) so I'll take Elder McNamara, I'll get a quick backstory up for him later.

Hmm, I wasn't planning on doing another DiD playthough for a while but I just feel the need to right now, since I haven't done an Energy weapons character ever (and I've had NV since release, can you believe it?) so I'll take Elder McNamara, I'll get a quick backstory up for him later.

I'll mark you down.

Follows-Chalk did a decent portion of Honest Hearts, (it was awkward for him to meet himself)

I'm wondering if I should convince the other Follows-Chalk to find civilization.

This looks awesome, although playing DiD with Project Nevada running is extremely difficult, so be careful. (I died during the tutorial the first time I tried it.)
Almost got my ass handed to myself in Primm. It took me half an hour just to clear Bison Steve hotel, but it sure was fun.

Try to get the Q-35, it's far better than the regular plasma rifle, not to mention it looks really cool.

I know what you mean, It was killing me with the Caesar playthrough that I couldn't gamble at all. I had significantly less money than usual during that time around.

I've got the Q-35 (Science at 100, so was very easy), but I've given it to Veronica. Plasma weapons are quite weak in this game, so its laser all the way for me. My fully modded laser rifle is going nowhere anytime soon. Though I'm almost level 17 now and I think I'll be needing a bit hitter sometime soon. I'm at the stage where I need to consider whether to do any DLCs.

The trouble is, with an INT of 4, I've still not maxed out all my tag skills yet - Energy Weapons and Science are both 100, but Unarmed is around 80. I've got a load of loot in the garbage can outside the Gun Runners, but I'm not going to sell it until I get my Barter to a decent level.

Am walking the Lonesome Road around level 35, so am debating OWB or Dead Money. The latter will ease my cap shortage at least, just 3-4 gold bars is enough to buy myself a brand shiny new Sptel-Wood 9700 Gatling Laser. A Van Graff thug has no interest in Honest Hearts.

At the moment I've got around 10k caps, and its nowhere near enough.

Project Nevada is a fun mod. The enemies can kill you with a few petty bullets but so can you. I ran into the Viper outpost west of Nipton and got my health reduced to 2, thus I survived quite barely. I hid behind a rock, all limbs except right arm crippled, but managed to survive. Need to be more careful. Thankfully I've played this game so much I remember most enemy spawns - running to this outpost was an accident.

I know the Nipton Road Pit Stop well. Its the single location that I dread the most when doing the loop from Goodsprings to New Vegas. I almost died there as well. I find that if I can survive to New Vegas, then I'll be ok. Its just getting past those early few levels.

Even as an energy weapon/unarmed character, I find the best strategy is to simply use the best gun you can find. In this case I was using dynamite, a Service Rifle and a 10mm pistol as much as the Plasma Pistol I bought from Chet, in Goodsprings. Just survive to New Vegas, and the game opens up.

Aye, I am currently using a Service Rifle, Plasma Pistol (found in Nipton house, under a bed), Laser Rifle (same house, the one with the robot) and a Cowboy Repeater. 9mm pistol has a backup role as well.

Nipton Road Pitstop seems to be quite the place to get murdered by raiders these days...

Seriously, it is. Caesar was knocked down to his last 30 hit points iirc, and that was the closest I came to dying throughout that whole playthrough. (Well, the Cave of Abbadon would have been worse, but I had Caesar sprint through it while blindly tossing flash bangs in every direction, which, in conjunction with spamming just about every food item in the game, worked quite nicely at keeping him alive. )

Follows-Chalk stayed his chieftan's killing blow to Salt-Upon-Wounds, and let the broken tribe leader live. Follows-Chalk taught Joshua Graham and the Sorrows that Vengeance can sometimes be necessary, but at the same time, you need to know when mercy is an option.

This was a killing blow to the White Legs, as the 80's massacred them soon after.

Follows-Chalk decided to go to back to the civilized lands that he had dreamed of exploring, and is now back at the Lucky 38 trying to decide next steps.

(A.K.A, I'm done with Honest Hearts. Much easier DLC for a melee-player than I would've expected.)

I've never tried the sprint through the Cave of the Abaddon strategy. It doesn't sound like the sort of courageous thing that the leader of the Legion, a tribe of brave and fierce warriors, would do.
