It seems like both sides are defendable. I like that about Brink, the lines between good and evil are blurred, like in a real conflict.
The main issue is that there are not enough resources on the Ark for people to live comfortably. The Founders are guilty of rationing resources unevenly. I assume that the standard of living is awful for the refugees to spur them to military action. They make it clear in the game that their main priority is water. Water. If I were a member of the lower-class, I would fight to escape the Ark. If I were a member of the upper-class, I would not fight with Security, but advocate equal rationing for the guests. I would be willing to decrease my own ration to qwell the conserns among the refugees.
It makes me wonder how available rations are that Security would rather attack Chen's missile and risk it launching or attack the reactor and risk the Resistance overloading it rather than comply with their demands.
