Who would YOU worship?

Post » Thu Jan 16, 2014 8:44 pm

Tommorow, you're going to wake up in Tamriel.

Knowing what you know about TES lore, which gods would you worship and why? I find this to be a very interesting subject, as the gods in TES lore are extremely diverse and all have their own planes of oblivion/realms of aetherius.

Yes, some of us like to worship Mehrunzes Dagon and Molag Bal in Skyrim so we can get cool weapons and kill people, but if YOU were transported into TES as a human race, which god(s) would you worship and why?

I think I would worship Azura. She cares for a her followers and is only borderline evil. She's the only god I can think of who isn't quite good, yet isn't quite bad either. Kind of like me. I'm almost brought to tears when faced with the prospect of spending my afterlife in Moonshadow...

I wouldn't worship the Aedra, their affect on Nirn isn't dramatic, and unlike the daedra they can be killed. The rest of the daedra would intimidate me, however, to the point where I couldn't worship them. However, given enough time in Tamriel, I think I would come to worship Nocturnal aswell.

How about you?

EDIT: How on Nirn did I forget Sheogorath? I'm quite eccentric in person, I honestly think I would eventually lose it and begin to revere the Mad God. :D

Why would I worship anyone? The purpose of Mundus is for mortals to transcend the gods. Worship kind of gets in the way of that.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Edit:If I was forced to be human, I would probably worship Hircine, Hermaeus Mora or Akatosh. The dragon god of time has to be the coolest tile ever made.

In actuality, probably Zenithar. There ain't enough of that guy I tells ya.

And by extension, Zeht. Him turning against Tall Papa after the world was created is pretty ballsy, if you ask me.

I would worship that goddess barmaid from the early Skyrim screenshots. Day and night, baby!

Nah, I'd go with the Hist. You can't go (w)ro(n)gue with the Hist

Hermaeus Mora. Aedra worshipers get the shaft- if they die, unless they meet extremely specific criteria (worship Shor, die in honorable combat), they get stripped of their memories and their soul is recycled like a spent beer can. I know the Daedra don't give two hoots about their followers, but an eternity in Apocrypha strikes me as palatable in comparison. Also I'd want as much magical knowledge and power as I could get my mits on, and Hermaeus Mora has that stuff in spades.

I'd worship the Divines (especially Julianos/Zenithar) and I'd be partial to a little prayer to Azura.

Seeing as I would legitimately be in with the Thieves Guild if I was transported to Tamriel, I'd also thank Nocturnal for a successful heist.

I would worship:

  • Hermaeus Mora, because I almost stayed in Apochrypha, because I couldn't take all the books, and I'm the kind of person who falls asleep in History, but fangasms when I find a new lore book. Oh, and tentacles. :D
  • Julianos, since he's the Divine that represents literature, as well as magic.
  • Azura, because she's the one of the few good Daedra left, and seems like she caters most to mages.
  • Meridia, becaus Meridia.

Thank muchly (and munchly, as fishsticks are nearly the only fish I eat)! Sanguine strikes me as a good runner-up. Who wouldn't want to spend their afterlife cavorting with daedra in drunken orgies?

Revere, but not worship, Lorkhan, and ignore all other deities in pursuit of my own transcendence.

If I knew what I know, I would likely Zero-Sum because I don't have the force of personality/will to accept simultaneously existing and not existing. Then again, I have no problems at all with the quantum mechanical concept of superposition, so who knows?

Otherwise Herma Mora or Reason and Logic.

Either Hermaeus Mora or Jyggalag. Both give great benefits to someone who offers up-front loyalty/slavery till death. Which is to say, death will never come to me. And both are rather straight-up with what they want you to do, and what you will get in return.

I'd revere (and possibly worship) any Aedra that actually help me, regardless of the pantheon they come from. I feel more comfortable dealing with Aedra than Daedra, simply because the Aedra are unconscious and are probably not looking to stab me in the back when they're finished with me. ...Probably (I'm looking at you, Aka).

Well, unless I brought a lawyer with me. Then maybe I could work out a deal with a Daedric Prince for some serious power.

Not all Daedra are [censored] genies. It all really depends on their spheres and how that influences their personality. Clavicus Vile? Yea, sure, avoid him like the plague, the guy is literally made of twisted wishes. The rest though? ... Mehrunes Dagon hates mortals and hungers to destroy the world. I imagine he only traffics honestly with powerful mortals who can advance his plots and even then plans to betray them once one of them ever comes to successful fruition. The rest get vague promises of power and eternal torment in the Deadlands once they die. Azura seems to enjoy the adoration of her worshipers, but is jealous, cruel, and vindictive when she feels slighted. Hermaeus Mora seems to prefer 'exchanges in kind' of information, trading secrets and knowledge with his compactors that are of equal value, and overall seems more interested in the products of mortal minds than mortals themselves.

All in all, you seem to get out of the daedra exactly what you put in- rewards are equal to the tasks you complete for them.

I would likely revere Mara, Lorkhan and Malacath.

I would hold respect for Azura, Meridia, Sanguine, Dibella, Nocturnal and Kyne. Oh! And Stendarr.

I would actively dislike Boethiah, Molag Bal, Mephala, Vaermina and Mehrunes Dagon.

Exactly. I'm willing to put in enough work to get me to the top of the ladder, but most if not all of the Daedric Princes that would be willing to let me do that (for power's own sake, mind, not out of any piety) would want something in return that I would most likely not want to give--and would also most likely try not to let me know what that "something in return" is until it's too late and I can't back out of it. So no, genies or not, I really don't feel capable of dealing with the Daedra when the Aedra seem more predictable.

My heart would pound to the beat of the Doom Drum, lord of mortals and true creator of Nirn and Mundus itself. Lorkhan, whose heart is the heart of the world. By all means, the world began and should end with him, so why not acknowledge that?

Honestly? Zenithar. The best worshiper of Zenithar in Skyrim is Belethor.

I thought all mortals go to their "aligned AE" after their death, regardless if it's anuic (aedric) or padomaic (daedric)? Does that process really differ for adherents of the Daedra?
