Morrowind goes against the very lore it established. The Dunmer should sound like Altmer, from a lore perspective.
They were still too friendly. Everybody in Oblivion was! The greetings were just too dull,
even the friendly ones. Diluting things like,
"talk is free, what do you want?" and even,
"speak freely, friend" into a bunch of generic Hello's and Good Morning's annoyed me to no end. After Bethesda tried to eradicate all traces of Olde English in Daggerfall and Morrowind, I suppose they overworked themselves.
That is what I hate. My destiny should be to save Tamriel. Perhaps Bethesda could have done what they did in Redguard, allow me to defeat Mehrunes Dagon under special circumstances.
I agree completely. They could've kept you close to an errand boy while still having you be the one to overcome the opposition like with Cyrus - sure he had
DAT HOON DING on his side, but aside from the actions of Prince A'Tor's sword manifestation, you still, at the very least, felt you were in control of Cyrus and felt like a total badass. Could've had Martin weaken Mehrunes Dagon or something of that sort, instead of some generic Godzilla-esque titanic battle.
Of course, the rest of the main quest would be a bit more problematic, seeing how about half of it revolves around Martin sitting in Cloud Ruler Temple all day nagging you to fetch him various miscellany. Someone in their spare time should try and write a new version of Oblivion's storyline that still incorporates the Mythic Dawn/Martin whilst giving far more action and free choice to the player character.
