Who do you Role-Play?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 1:01 pm

Title kinda sums it up, haha. Just like to hear other people's character stories.

Who do you Role-Play in the Fallout games?

I really only play New Vegas of late.....so here goes!

Name: Edgar Finley.

Faction: Lyon's Brotherhood of Steel.

Appearance: Edgar has short, wavy, black hair and a goatee, broad jaw, roundish nose, brown eyes, and a muscular build.

Personality: Edgar is more of a thinker than a fighter, but adjusts to his new life, as what he thinks, as the last true survivor of the East Coast squad. He is quite charming, but generally keeps to himself, prefering his own company to other's, his sense of humor is terribly dry, coming off as quite drull to those he encounters. After becoming a lone wanderer he took to drinking as a form of comfort, but is trying to quit due to his temper. He is kind and compassionate, and is only aggressive when he's pushed over the edge.

Karma: Good

Gear:

Apparel: Scribe robes, then switches to standard clothes, and finally to T-45d Power Armour.

Weapons: Laser pistol and a laser rifle.

Character synopsis:

Shortly before the events of Fallout 3 Elder Lyon's, in desperation, sends a group out west to find aid, otherwise he fears they will fall. The group originally consisted of thirty-six men, six scribes, twenty-five knights, and five paladins. Many criticize the large group he sent, due to their stressed numbers. After two years of searching, state to state, they grow disheartened, and nearly half decide to head back. The remaining eighteen press on into the unknown, and to their death.

By the time they reach Nevada area, twelve remain, and rumors of the Brotherhood start to pick up. Sadly, Nevada was not in a hospitable mood, rumors of a war were starting to brew, and after nearly two months, the group is forced to give up. Six head Helios One, rumored to be in Brotherhood control, four decide to settle down, put the Brotherhood behind them, and two still search. Paladin Ronald and Scribe Edgar search for three days before they hear word of a band of Brotherhood soldiers marched into NCR's scopes at Helios. Angered and exhausted the two decide to lay low. Setting up a small shack in the North as a base of operations they wait there for awhile, hunting local wildlife and drinking whatever they could find. Soon war breaks out and they see it as their chance to continue their search.

They head out for an outpost, 188 Trading Post, to catch up on the latest news. There they run into a girl, Veronica Santangelo, who points them in the right direction, but confirms their fears. The Brotherhood is in shambles. Seeing it as their only option they make their way for Hidden Valley. On their way there they decide to cross Black Mountain, under the shroud of nightfall. Veronica advised them not to take that route, but hadn't warned them of Nightkin.

When they arrived at Black Mountain they were almost instantly over-run. Ronald was cut down, his power armor not able to withstand the beating, and Edgar was forced to bypass Hidden Valley and never stopped running until he was at a small town called Goodsprings......there his adventure truly begins.

I know it kinda svcks, but I'm no writer =p So let's hear 'em, guys!

Reason for edit: Left a bunch out xD

Its actually a pretty cool story idea for BOS. I assume you would be doing a Yes Man main quest line? As the other three seem to want the BOS destroyed at Hidden Valley.

I don't really intend to do any of them on this character, just roleplay stuff out and side quests. My Courier character, however, sided with Yes-Man! :)

Technically yes, but you can broker a truce bteween one of the three and the BoS.

Sounds like a fun RP OP. :) Will have to put up mine when I get access to a computer (on a mobile device atm). :P

(When I say cannon I mean my own personal cannon)

All of my characters, except my House playthrough, are cannon to a certain point. My Courier and Edgar are the only that are pure cannon, my NCR and Legion are up until some of the last few quests, but in my world they both die at the Battle of Hoover Dam.

And OP, you got me doing a BOS roleplay now too lol doing the Still In THe Dark quest, the long way and keeping MacNarma so I can do the NCR truce.

A cannon is any artillery device that uses an explosives-based propellant to launch a projectile.

Canon is lore or material that is official. If something is not canon, like parts of Tactics, then it is not officially recognized as genuine.

Well when i killed Elijah i mutliated his remains and tried to hide it in the vault... and then my collar blew up. But worth it! I also went on a suicide mission to retrieve the COS silencer rifle and the armor. I died like 12 times because i was a level 2.

I'm glad I brought a flamer to vault 22 with me too. Sure came in handy. I'm going to save up for Cleansing Flame, and go with that, and the tri beam laser (gra) as my primary weaposn on my paladin.

Well I just completed the BOS quest line, and did Eye Sight Of The Blind. Boone didn't make it at Black Mountain however. Somehow a Deathclaw came out of nowhere, at the very top of the mountain. We had no problems taking about the mutants and nightkin, but I have no clue how that Deathclaw got up there. I was quite lucky it went after Boone instead of me, as I didn't even see it behind me. But now my Paladin has a new friend, Raul lol and a new toy, Annabelle. And my T-51 power armor as well.

Sadly, I don't really have a bio for background. I'm kinda new to the whole roleplaying aspect, and Fallout 3 was the first ever non sports game, non straight first person shooter I have ever played. It took my a little while to truely appriciate New Vegas, and I enjoy reading up on the tribes and factions past histories, coming into the game. Your original post inspired me to start a BOS character and its fun using the energy weapons (always cowboy or grunt guy)

And I shouldn't have just finished the first season of Game Of Thrones, because now I kinda want to get back into Skyrim lol

Probably because they both have the feel of the wild west, but in the end that cowboy undertone isn't what either of them is truly about.

That's a good show too, but I get into more of a Star Trek/Star Wars kinda mood after that.

Anyone have any characters? So far I'm the only one to have posted one, haha, ah well. :P

I have been replaying the whole series recently and I'll soon finish tactics so here are my characters so far(and a little future planning):

FO1: Talius(27), captain of guard in the Vault, he knows small guns and energy weapons and how to give a couraging speech for the population. When the water crisis began he was the logical choice, and so he left. He had made a vow of selibacy to keep him from distracting from his quest, though he broke it in Junk Town where he was drunk, saved a [censored] and ended up in her bed. After that he was greatly ashamed but continued his quest which succeeded. His knowledge of energy weapons and the art of speech saved him from many dangers and his good heart stopped his revenge lust in the end(I didn't want to spoil anything).

FO2: Zach(20), strong, agile and charismatic person was chosen for his quest for his abilities. He was eager to go, for he was bored in Arroyo though he loved it greatly. He had his vices, lust, drugs and alcohol were his favourite hobbies in the wasteland. He sired quite a few children, punched hundreds of people and shot up twice as much beyond recognition. He found the G.E.C.K though it took a long time, because of his hobbies. When he returned to Arroyo his soul filled with lust for revenge and he got it rather quickly. He had a quick temper and it got him in many troubles.

FO:T Hannibal(35) was an intelligent person, though small and shy. His home town was wiped out by raiders and he joined the Brotherhood for shelter and possibility to avenge his friends. He was merciless when he faced his enemies(raiders) and later on he had learned to hate the Brotherhoods enemies. He was a skilled doctor and field medic so he never lost a team member. He raised as far as he could in the ranks and accepted ghouls as his equals, but never super mutants. Reavers he respected for their intelligence and robots fascinated him. He still has some decisions that determine the fate of the region...

FO3: I have been planning this for a while but it's not complete yet: John(19 or was it 18?) is a sickly and weak but very intelligent young boy. *FO3 beginning events*. He wandered the wastes and after *enter event here* his mind "snapped", he became a bit crazy and his judgement became different, he started to cannibalize his fallen foes/victims. Though in the end, he kept his fathers ideals and lived(mostly) by them.

F:NV: Again this is unfinished but anyway: Bronn(30-40), mercenary that does anything if the price is right. He seeks revenge after *F:NV starting events* and pushes himself mercilesly to Vegas. After he satisfies his lust for revenge, he starts to be interested in "The Big Game" of Mojave. He comes from the NCR and is quite patriotic, but does not want to help them for *enter reason here*. He thinks about joining the Legion but gets in trouble with them so they aren't an option to him. He ends up siding with House/Yes Man and in the end, gets paid. Big time.

I'm open to some suggestions at the time if somebody wants to give any.

Character I've been working on, have yet to start him but still

Name: Ben Sands

Age: 36

Faction: None, but he feels a sense of loyalty towards the NCR due to his years in their military, first as a Trooper, then a Ranger.

Appearance: Shortish auburn hair (The Unsettler hairstyle), rough beard. Brown eyes, fine features.

Personality: Ben's quiet, doesn't say much. Guess that's to be expected from someone who spends 95% of their time out wandering the wastes. He's a decent guy though, and is always willing to lend a hand, or his rifle, when needed.

Karma: Good

Gear: Couple stimpaks, jar of Rad-X, a few bottles of purified water, a bit of food and a weapon repair kit.

Apparel: Leather armour, Sunglasses, Ranger hat

Weapons: Weathered 10mm pistol, Cowboy Repeater (later replaced by a Trail Carbine)/Hunting Rifle (scope, custom action)

Skills: Guns, Sneak, Survival

Traits: Trigger Discipline, Four Eyes

Description: Expert marksman and survivalist. Physically fit, intelligent and quite perceptive.

Character synopsis: Ben was born to caravaneer parents in 2245, somewhere on the road between Junktown and Hub. Spent most of his childhood with the caravans, learning how to shoot and survive along the way. Joined up with NCR military the day he turned 18, was accepted into the Rangers by the time he turned 21. He was sent east in 2270 (? Not sure exactly when the first Rangers came east into the Mojave) as one of the first to be sent to scout out the Mojave for potential annexation. He stayed there for the next seven years, seeing the rise of Mr House and the Legion, and was badly injured during the first battle of Hoover Dam, leaving him with poor eyesight and the accompanying need to wear glasses to see properly. After he recovered, he was removed from active service and permanently assigned to Gamp Golf as one of Hanlon's advisors.
He spent the next couple of years there, until re-enlistment time came around. He took his papers and walked.
Can't afford to go home, Hell, the Mojave's home. So he now basically just wanders the wastes, killing Legion scum where he can, but mostly just trying to survive and maybe, just maybe, make a difference.

Profession: Scout Sniper

Appearance: Black Messy Hair, Rough Beard, Red Iris, Medium Build.

Weapons: Anti-Materiel Rifle (GRA), ALSiD, This Machine, Bozar, Laser Rifle (Modded).

Foodstuff: Purified Water, Scavanged food, misc food items from trading with locals.

Skills: Guns, Sneak, Survival

Traits: Agile Frame, Trigger Discipline

SPECIAL: 7/9/5/1/9/8/1

--Story--

Born into the Desert Rangers in the year 2255, Ruin was trained in the art of warfare since the day he could hold a gun. Having noticed that he had a proficiency for sniping, he was trained to be physically fit, while still being able to take full advantage of his highly agile body.

16 years after he was born, the Ranger Unification Treaty took place, uniting the New California Republic with the Desert Rangers. Not all Rangers agreed with the unification, however, and saw it as an abomination, throwing out all the hard work they've spent protecting this land with a single stroke of a pencil. This group went on to become known as the Desert Ranger Remnants. This had caused hostilities between the NCR, the now assimilated Rangers, and the Remnants.

2 weeks years after the treaty, the Remnants, or "Family" as they called themselves, moved into an abandonded bunker complex on the outskirts of Nevada. Their lifeblood soon became scouts and scavengers, able to quickly and quietly scavenge food, munitions, and other items deemed necessary for survival. Ruin, being the age of 16 had not yet come into maturity in the groups eyes. Men and Women of the Family reach "maturity" when they are given a chosen profession. This changed from the groups previous system since they are not as numbered as they were before the treaty. Having been a sniper before the treaty, the family has seen no real use for Ruin's skills with the family's current position in the wasteland. This had frustrated Ruin to no end. So, against orders, Ruin left the complex under cover of night to prove himself, only taking a large pack, his trusty rifle, 2 bottle waters, a Salisbury Steak, and enough ammunition to handle anything that might get in his way. Little had Ruin known, however, that his childhood friend, Vanessa had fallowed him.

Ruin came across a Raider compound, the likes of which he had only heard of in tales told by senior officers. Ruin had resolved to get in and out with plenty of food for the family, under one self imposed rule; no casualties. Ruin wasn't exactly opposed to killing lawless people like Raiders, but he knew that he could pick them off with his rifle before they even saw him. Ruin wanted a challenge, as he seems to the vast majority of the time. Ruin quickly and quietly snuck in through the back, unaware that Vanessa had been, and is still, following him. Sticking to the shadows and avoiding confrontation, he quickly made it to the kitchens of the complex, making sure to take whatever water and food he could find without getting caught. After "raiding" three of the four buildings in the complex, Ruin's pack was nearly bursting at the seams. "This will feed the family for weeks!" he thought to himself. Quickly turning around Ruin almost yelled in surprise, not 3 feet away from him was Vanessa, seeing what her friend was up to. After arguing in what would sound like silence to anyone outside of the family, they quickly backtracked out of the compound, carefully avoiding areas of high traffic and sticking to the shadows. After getting a good distance from the compound, and the watchful eyes of the Raiders, Vanessa asked why he hadn't killed any of them, and stated that it would have been easy for him to do so. Ruin simply stated: "I wanted a challenge."

Ruin and Vanessa got back shortly after daybreak, where the "Elders" of the family were waiting for them. Having found out from Vanessa what Ruin had done, he was scolded, severely, but the Elders also saw his potential. Underneath that rough exterior, was the heart of a scout, and it seems, finally, Ruin had matured. Being able to quickly and silently scavenge food from a Raider base, Ruin soon became a prodigy and a valuable asset among his family. Having lost several members to Raiders, Mutants, NCR Patrols, and in some cases; Legion, Ruin soon became the groups primary source for food, intel, weapons, and munitions.

Cut to Ruin at the age of 24, Ruin was tasked on a special scavange and scout mission. Leaving the safety of his home once again, He entered the wastes in search of food, and; perhaps most importantly, intelligence on the recent "Damn War" as the locals call it. Ruin didn't see the need for the intelligence as the war didn't affect his family. His family, however, disagrees, knowing that the NCR has been after their heads since their refusal to join the rest of the Rangers in the assimilation. They see the war as a prime oppurtunity to take them out, and have sent Ruin to investigate. "Why would they make an effort to come after us for so long?" he would ask, only to get "Because we are an anomaly, an unknown quantity. Perhaps they see us as a threat; though weither it is a threat to their authority or survival remains to be seen." So, reluctantly Ruin went into the wastes once again to obey his orders.

Ruin spent the next few days traveling from town to town, bartering for food and information, avoiding NCR Patrols whenever possible. Detection wasn't likely, while Ruin was born before the treaty, and the conflict began, he had changed greatly in both stature and looks, so they couldn't tell if he was a Ranger, or just another Wastelander. Still, it was good to be cautious, if he were detected and captured, the entire family would be put at risk. This could not happen.

About 3 days after starting his journey Ruin met a merchant at the 188 Trading Post that wasn't as tight lipped as the rest, a few caps and he was singing like a bird. Apparently the NCR were at war with some force called the Legion and weren't actively seeking out anyone else. How reliable this information was, however, remained to be seen; but if it was true, then the family had nothing to worry about. Ecstatic about the news, Ruin threw some extra caps the merchants way, bought some food for the family and himself (as well as water), and started his 3 day trek back to the bunker they have lived in for the past 8 years.

Ruin arrived home, to see that the bunker entrance had been left open. This was odd because security had always been the family's first thought. Nothing came before the groups security. Ruin cautiously entered the dim lit complex, rifle at the ready and eyes watching every little movement. Making his way through the complex, Ruin came to the Mess Hall and sat his pack on the floor, realizing that it hit something wet. Ruin quickly flipped the lights on, and to his horror, saw the bodies of his family strewn throughout the Mess Hall. He stopped at every one of them to examine their vitals, not one survived. It wasn't just the shock of seeing his family dead that made him snap; it was the way they were arranged. As if the Mess Hall had become a mass grave, their lifeless bodies where just thrown into a pile. Ready to get sick, Ruin turned to see some writing on the wall: "This is what happens if you challenge our authority. The NCR will take action."

Filled to the brim with rage, Ruin said his goodbyes, put on the armour he earned 8 years ago, and left the bunker for the last time.

2 years later, Ruin is now 26. Having worked as a Courier for the past two years and seeing the Mojave for all it's worth, Ruin worked to the bone trying to find information on tthe NCR troopers that had slaughtered his family, and, if possible, the person who ordered it. That is, until a particular job caught his eye. A delivery order for one Mister House. This was his chance, he thought. He knew that relations with NCR and the enigmatic Mr. House where shaky at best, as the NCR have been vying for control of the strip, and this might be what he's been looking for. So Ruin put his name down for the job, and got it. Ruin went into the job thinking it was just another routine delivery mission... it was anything but routine..........

TL;DR - Ruin spent his life training to become a Desert Ranger in a group of remnants that didn't want to join the NCR. Became one at the age of 16. Went out to gather intel and food at the age of 24 only to come back and find that the NCR had killed his family. Now he's out for revenge and took a job as a courier so he could better gather intel.

Sorry, I tend to get carried away when I tell people the backstory for my characters.
