Who do you think is the "good" side or the "bad&

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 5:18 am

There is no good side, but the real bad side is the Thalmor. Mark my words, this whole civil war is nothing more than than a Thalmor conspiracy to weaken mankind and invade when both sides are sufficiently weakened.

And yes i agree with you statement about the thalmor..Damm elves,,,

No idea but if it's that easy to decide which side is good/evil than I'll be quite disappointed. I want all "grey" factions like in New Vegas. Save that dark side/light side trope garbage for another game.

I doubt either will be evil. I am a supporter of Talos so I think I'll be joining the Stormcloaks.

.Storm cloaks are like the amercians during the revoultion war....Radicals...

And see, that's funny, because that's now how it was seen at all by the people at the time. It's the same thing with the Stormcloaks. They fully believe they're doing the right thing.

So, both sides are gray. Deal with it. Unless, you know, Bethesda pulls an Enclave.

The Empire is just and rigtheous in its cause.
I am, of course, the exception to the rule.
I will show no mercy to these rebel scum.
Every Imperial soldier lost to the rebels will be repaid in blood!
These rebels have murderd the High king and caused instability in the north for selfish gains.
It is reprted they are being funded by the aldmeri dominion.

When I arrive in Skyrim, I shall march upon Windhelm with the Elite 501st Legion!
I will crush this rebellion! Our http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bzWSJG93P8 shall ring across Nirn!
FOR THE EMPIRE!

The Empire as faulty as it is has directly thwarted Akaviri incursion throughout history. Skyrim's military has always composed a great portion of the martial might of the imperial soldiers. The loss of Skyrim either as a territory or ally would increase the existential threat of invasion, and don't forget that we ultimately only know of two non-Tamrielic forces: the Sload and Akavir.

My choice to go with the Empire follows both my personal desire to see an ascendent Empire again and the geopolitical realities that face Tamriel (probably).

That's basically what the Septim empire did. New one, not much info.

The Akaviri are a non-issue, and have only invaded twice. Once was against Cyrodiil, and Reman soundly defeated them and integrated them in his empire, and the second invasion was in Morrowind, in which the Tribunal just flooded the place.

No, the biggest issue is the mer of Summerset Ilse rising to power. And as I've said, I believe this whole civil was in Skyrim is nothing more than a Thalmor conspiracy to get their enemies to kill each other, and attack when both sides are down.

Oh, I wasn't offended. I was gearing that whole thing towards Skyrim. I'll probably have a hard time choosing a faction to join, to be honest. Maybe I'll leave it up to the race I choose. ...but what if I choose Bretons?... QUESTIONS!

And, yeah, the Colonel may have been an Anti-Hero but the President wasn't quite.

I love the Empire, but I now realise how greedy they are. They deny the people of Skyrim (and other provinces) to rule their own province which is kind of something I don't support. If the people want to be free of the Empire then they should have it as something is clearly wrong (unless most of the people agree with the Empire or if this is some kind of an evil plan made by the leader of storm cloaks to take everything for himself). I'm very scared to make a decision here, but I will probably support the empire if they turn out to be 'more good' than the storm cloaks.

Atm, no idea tbh :/

The Thalmor succeeding in goading a secessionist movement in Skyrim seems unlikely to me, although it could still benefit them. The Nords have always been rather mistrustful of Mer (and Bretons to a lesser extent), but there's no telling if the Stormcloak's upper echelons might be puppets I suppose.

As for Akavir being a non-issue those conflicts were several hundred years beforehand and the Akaviri have probably increased their numbers, but a real X factor to Akavir being a true threat is why the Nerevarine traveled there in the closing days of the Third Era.

The Thalmor are the closest hostile party to Cyrodil, so at least in terms of immediate threat they would pose more of one should they act.

I think they will both be grey, although the stormcloaks assassinated the king and are nord supremecists. I think I'll most likely join the empire.

Where/who says that the Stormcloaks are nord supremecists? This info would be very useful to me, thanks.

No way to know until the game comes out but I would guess both sides are grey otherwise it would be a fairly easy decision to make and entertainment is all about conflict.

The empire is (this part confirmed), I think as a provision from the treaty the Imperials and Summerset made during a war those two had.

I disagree with this on pretty much every level. First of all, New Vegas factions weren't that 'grey'. I wouldn't trust the judgement of anyone who couldn't distinguish which side was the good and bad guys between the democratic NCR and the enslaving Caesar's Legion. Secondly, I'm not the least bit interested in going to war against good guys. If the Empire and rebellion don't present clear good guys and villains, then there is nobody to side with. I'm certainly not going to help one faction kill the other over what amounts to a difference of opinion.

Well from what i can gather the Stormcloaks are trying to get back independence like america did from britan. Also you can argue that the Empire has held on to it for so long that many people side with it and feel that it is there home now. Its never clear civil war is never good.

Not the best anology. The Americans that pursued the Independence War against the English were Europeans in the first place while in Skyrim there is a entire race of native (Nords) pursuing a Civil War against another race (Imperials) domination.
