I disagree with this on pretty much every level. First of all, New Vegas factions weren't that 'grey'. I wouldn't trust the judgement of anyone who couldn't distinguish which side was the good and bad guys between the democratic NCR and the enslaving Caesar's Legion. Secondly, I'm not the least bit interested in going to war against good guys. If the Empire and rebellion don't present clear good guys and villains, then there is nobody to side with. I'm certainly not going to help one faction kill the other over what amounts to a difference of opinion.

Uh-huh, and I'm not going to derail the topic by pointing out precisely why most of the factions in NV are grey. If the main quest is some derpy "Good Rebels versus Evil Empire" garbage or vice versa I'll be avoiding it completely. I realize quite a few people are satisfied with that kind of simplistic story telling but I like my soup a bit thicker.

There is no good or evil. It's like asking why is Nazis evil. They weren't Or the US civil war, the South wanted slaves but that doesn't make them evil. Or is the Tea Party or Fox News evil? Because they are not.

Depends on what the King was. We don't know anything about him yet.

For all we know he was a tyrant or a completely Imperial puppet.

lets see a continent wide imperialist militaristic empire that forces peace at the point of a sword or a small band of warriors who just want there nation to be a nation again. i say storm cloaks have the right idea.

Well, it's a matter of who you side with.

Neither of them is nessesarily "good" or "evil".

I see it as probably both are grey. An example: (Not necessarily Canon)
The Legion
Brings:
Law and Order
'Peace'
Also:
Strict and brutal punishment (Stole a fork? Death sentence!)
Heavy Taxes and Levy's

The Stormcloaks
Brings:
Independence
'Hope' (Or something I didn't think about.)
Also:
Anarchy and Chaos (In the first few years/months)

So I will have to learn about them when I play first before deciding.

The Imperials have grown weak since the Oblivion crisis and aren't really in a position to enforce order beyond their borders. The time is right for the various provinces to start declaring their independence. It's no surprise Skyrim would be the first to secede.

I don't really view this as a war between good and evil. It's all a matter of perspective as to who is in the right. Personally I'll side with the Stormcloaks. Nothing wrong with a healthy revolution.
