Who do you wack to start DB quest?

Finding an NPC you can kill without getting a bounty is not easy.

Here are the ones I have done to date:
Spoiler

The fisherman dude in Weye - I tried him, but then I have to kill the Imperial Legion dude who magically teleports into his house from the Inn to bust me. No bounty for this, but it is a pain.

The Adventurer dude - Finding him is the hard part.

A Pilgrim of a devine (OOO only) - They are hard for a low level character (they are like a marauder battle mage).

Natch at Hackdirt - Easy, but I found I first gotta zap him with a spell to avoid a bounty. Hitting him first causes a bounty. Is that a bug?

Any others you know about?

Any npc who isn't hostile to you... can be a guard...

My only character who intentionally murdered to get into the DB did it by killing Glarthir. She hacked him down with a cutlass behind the chapel at midnight. :)

It's also murder if you kill Seridur before he can make his final speech, and it counts as murder if you accidentally kill an NPC while in battle.

I've killed Alval "I'll turn your bones to ash!" Uvani to get into the DB, before. Usually I just play and the invitation presents itself eventually.

Presumably you're aware that he's involved in the DB quest line. (Not that it matters, but killing him to get in removes one later sub-quest.)

For stealthers it's easy. Buffy killed Earana but declined LL's offer.

Yeah, but that didn't figure in to my calculations either of the two times I plugged the little fetcher. It was simply a response to his attitude. It was pure joy turning his arrogant bones to ash, plus his corpse sticks around so I can gloat.

Those ingrate Mage scholars, as soon as I get access to Arcane University I created custom set of spell to dispose all of them without incurring any bounty.

I choose one of the Sintavs of the Imperial City. I mean, there's like, what, 12 of them?
Or Glarthir.

How? He's essential until you get the contract.

You can kill a Sintav or Glarthir without getting a bounty? Are you using a mod?

I find the Draconis family quest really difficult for the IC guy and Leyawiin chick. I tried numerous methods to avoid a bounty. Neither will eat a poisoned apple. Even if I make myself invisible with 100% chameleon, I get at least a 40 bounty.

Thanks for the replies!

No, he gets killed quite frequently. He travels the roads a lot, and if your character is high level, he can't stand up to the "wildlife." :)

No mod. There's no bounty for a murder that isn't witnessed. It's hard to manage that in a city, but you can get Glarthir when he's waiting behind the chapel, if you check to make sure there's nobody nearby, and if you can keep him from running for help. Etta used a poisoned cutlass, and it was a sneak attack. :)

Yea, I just wacked Glarthir. No bounty.

You're right about Alvil. I verified that he isn't essential.

My last character shot him from a distance. I remembered that one.
Though, I forgot that later on in the MQ there's a sacrifice that's another quick and easy way in as well.
I haven't played for years so little things like that I'm only just remembering as I come across them.

My current character, even though he is a bit of a bully, knocking down people in the street who happen to be in his way (Duke Patrick's Shield Charge mod) he tries not to kill anyone, but if he does it'd likely be a random traveller (Crowded Roads) as we're just travelling around "sight seeing" at the moment.

As for Uvani, I was far into the MQ and, as I walked into the place in Skingrad he hangs out in I was ambushed. During the fight someone must've hit him or looked at him the wrong way, because next thing the orc had killed him. Later on in the DB questline my quest updated instantly and *I* still got the infamy even though I didn't do it. I guess it was one less contract to complete :)
