Who is your BEST follower?

Post » Thu Aug 12, 2010 11:45 am

I have no issue with Jericho what so ever later when he has good armor and a big gun and melee wep like a mini gun or vengeance and Shiskebab he don't die I give him 15 stimpacks from the start he now has 5 left and I done almost all main quest. I would say he my favorite for his humorous comments like "I'm gonna [censored] your [censored] up" which all followers tend to do anyway you can sneak but as soon as they lock enemies guns are blazing alerting all nearby and also they love to walk into mines and traps ><. Also I always give Jericho some cigarettes so he don't moan about there being none around. I don't like using OP ones like Fawkes anymore even Charon with his glitched shotgun

How is Charon's shotgun glitched?

Ya, this svcks. It's the same with Jericho. At least Clover has that dress which makes it easier to put her in something else. I have to admit it was the first thing I did when I moved over to the PC. I started dressing them in lower DR clothing just because I could. Lots of Merc outfits. It's awesome. I mean, I know I can go get modded gear for companions, and I have, but I just have hours and hours of pent up frustration with wanting them to wear the Merc outfits, or Regulator Dusters, or worthless Raider gear even.

If you still like Clover best and want to go get her you can try the tricks I use to get my Karma down low enough to hire Jericho when I'm not playing an Evil character but want him to follow me anyway. So I go to Moriarty's and just hack his computer over and over again. Actually, I don't hack it even. You don't need to. All you have to do is open it over and over again. Because it is red and owned you take a karma hit for opening it. It takes awhile and is pretty tedious but your character is doing nothing wrong. So I would get my karma down low enough to hire him (evil) and then afterwards, if I cared, I would go and donate to the Confessor to get it back up to Neutral. You could always give him more to get to Good if you wanted.

Thanks, I'll try that. :)

And yeah, dressing followers in different clothing is great for roleplaying, which is why I like the fact that Clover and Butch have such weak default clothing. Since I'm playing a good character, I could pretend I rescued Clover from Paradise Falls by buying her, just like those Little Lamplight Kids.

Well probably not glitched but it far better accuracy then when i use same one i have 100 small guns and less range shotguns are not long ranged.

Charon's shotgun is different than the ones the player can carry, unless you play on the PC and mod it so you can get it or play with a mod that has made it available to you. His weapon is a hybrid of a shottie and something like Lincoln's Repeater. Which is why if you carry LR he is nearly as effective as you are at a pretty good distance, as the spread is tighter than a regular shottie and the range is longer. Although, as his shotgun is, it is pretty worthless to the player, it needs to be changed quite a bit to be worth carrying.

I think a combat shotgun that has a super tight spread would be fantastic, I understand now. Yeah Charon always was my favorite follower, I never usually gave him a different weapon, just some good armor, some crap I needed him to carry, and no ammo unless I had to.

I tend to play the lone wanderer part. Followers tend to get in the way, compromise stealth and steal XP, but whatever floats ones boat in this case. If I had to choose one it would be Dogmeat. Loayal, not house broken like the lone wanderer and usually keeps His Yap shut unlike the others. I tried sticky once. Gave Him Eugene and Enclave power armor. The raiders in Bethesda kicked His @ss.

well if we're ever in a war together.. I'll make damn sure NOT to ask you to
cover me.

a commander you are not. you prolly left him on keep his distance and flank or default when going into
tunnels and vaults when you shoulda told him to stick close to you. always play tatically.
I never ever lost Jericho even playing on vh w/ MMM. thats cause we're always covering each other,
indoors he sticks close to me and outdoors is when he keeps his distance and flanks. he's not a bullitt
sponge like that green bastard or the little furry friend.

edit:
I made Charon kill everybody in underworld before I put a bullitt in his ZOMBIE brain.

I had the same issue. I play very hard level and there is less room for error. When You have a ghoul who refuses to listen and charges into Your line of fire, only bad things can happen. I was in Warrington metro when Charon and me came across a reaver. I gave Him Xuanlong, plenty of stimpaks and the ranger battle armor. What does He do ?? Walks right into the line of fire and I can't shoot without hitting Him. He died at the hands of the reaver, screaming like a little girl. I dont have much experience with Jericho as I hate His smoking and back talking. I had to fire His sorry @ss.

Fawkes, the second strongest character in the game ( first strongest is Liberty Prime) But overall, Fawkes is great, good with all weapons but little pistols. He is like a Super mutant Over Over Overlord who likes humans.

No, Fawkes is a guy. Did you read your entire link? Did you read this comment?

I came in after Emil posted to clarify that I was only joking in the Planet Fallout interview about Fawkes being female. I was joking because I had read here on these very boards that a few people thought he was originally a female. I voiced him as a male, and yet I thought the concept of Fawkes waiting by the phone for a prom date was hysterical. People took me seriously, and to this day INSIST that he was a she. Mental note to self - always have the reporter apply "winky" emoticons for moments of sarcastic humor. ;)

Fawkes = Guy. As in "Guy Fawkes." :)

Thanks!

BEST is a pretty relative term. The best is probably Fawkes simply because he is player-leveled and has unlimited gatling laser ammo. My favorite would be Butch when he can stay alive, but I generally go solo

Obviously, Fawkes is the best follower late in the game. For followers you can recruit now, it's a bit more level.

RL-3 is good for a low-level character, but doesn't level up in the vanilla game. Once you have him on the harder levels, you'll be working to keep him alive, rather than having him fight at your side.

I don't like being evil, but I've done it, and I liked having Jericho. He's a competent, reliable killer, and his deadly accuracy with his Chinese rifle ensures that minor threats die and major ones are softened up by the time they reach me. The only thing I've seen kill him is a Behemoth.

Charon is pricey, but his combat shotgun's limited spread makes him a pretty good long-distance fighter.

Dogmeat... well, I seem to spend most of my battles alongside him focused on trying to keep him alive. I'd rather recruit him and leave him at my house in Megaton, so he can bring me my slippers when I come home at the end of the day.

And Clover is weaker than Jericho, and pretty useless at a distance. But if you give her a Shishkebab, she's not bad to have around.

For me, it's a toss-up between Jericho and Charon at the beginning, but Fawkes overall.

I like Fawkes more then others, but he is too powerful = makes game too easy. He hits like truck, have tons of hp, and can carry alot.

Star Paladin cross is great tank for melee.

And Charon for ranged, cas he is not annoying and ghouls have cool voice.

Sydney... Modded and Unmodded... I've always found her story really interesting... the mod for her is amazing... using the voice actress'' lines from other chars to give her tons of comments depending on where she is...

she once started [censored]ing at bittercup when I recruited her... they exchanged "plesantries" and then sydney called her a [censored]... I choked on my soda at that point...

also bittercup with goth girl makeover and using share and recruit... she's a decent melee follower (i've modded all ncps hp to be more in line with player and enemies) and she is good at medicine and lvs up (all my npcs do was a pain to mod but i did it) with share and recruit she will heal me in combat... playing FWE on harsh settings can be harsh... I'm struggling to survive and suddenly she runs thru a hail of bullets to use a stim on me... good times...

all the while sydney is mowing stuff down with her modded 10mm sub...

actually... screw this i'm gonna go play some more... I need to survive a raider spawn near my chill spot in minefield... stupid random spawns caught me with a magnum 10 bullets a chinese officer sword and dogmeat when I went to scavenge good from homes and mines... and amy wong just got sent out to sell and I don't cheat and call teleport her so i'm hiding from about 5 of this bums who engage at long range... CRY!!!!!!!!

Fawkes has to be the best, but RL3 is my favourite. He kills things a bit slower than Fawkes but can take a beating before he finally breaks.

Sydney is fun but usually she dies on me, I keep telling her headbutting rockets and catching grenades isn't a good idea but she's a stuborn woman!

Jericho usually dies from falling, I was on one of the flyovers high up in the north east part of the map, one second he was behind me, I turn around and he was gone.... I never found his body to get back the kit he was carrying! maybe it was the aliens :obliviongate:
