Who is your BEST follower?

Post » Thu Aug 12, 2010 6:21 pm

Yesterday I received a contract for Charon :deal: . I had that a**hole from megaton :nuke: Jericho as a follower but to me he wasnt anything like Charon!! Someone suggested that I give him big weapons :flamethrower: and watch him in action but he seems to be doing dang well with the "small guns" :gun: . Will he die :yuck: tho in battle? I put plenty of sims and other "meds" :goodjob: in his inventory. I havent tried butch or fawkes yet. I'd like to know everyone's chose on their best follower, cuz so far Charon rocks  !

I usually use Charon with Dogmeat. the only chems i've ever known him to use are stimpaks and buffout. This playthrough I am only using Dogmeat. From all the followers i've used Charon is overall the best, even though Fawkes has tons more health ( as well as RL-3) I just can't use them for extended periods.

I Like Fawkes. At Lv30, you can just follow him and loot the bodies. He'd be perfect if he'd just shut up sometimes.

Haven't really tried any others yet except dogmeat. (Going through it the second time now)

Best is definitely Jericho, bar none.

Charon is really boring and way too professional. Clover can really get annoying. Etc.

Jericho all the way!

I use either Clover, Butch, or Dogmeat. Not because any of them are particularly powerful (except Dogmeat), but because I just think they're more fun to have. With Butch and Clover you can dress them in more outfits then the other followers. And yeah they may be the weakest followers, but to me it's more fun trying to keep them alive then having a giant hulking super-mutant act as a body shield and walking killing machine. Plus Clover isn't that bad a fighter when given the right weapons.

I use Clover for evil characters and Butch for good or nuetral characters. Dogmeat for both.

well if we're ever in a war together.. I'll make damn sure NOT to ask you to
cover me.

a commander you are not. you prolly left him on keep his distance and flank or default when going into
tunnels and vaults when you shoulda told him to stick close to you. always play tatically.
I never ever lost Jericho even playing on vh w/ MMM. thats cause we're always covering each other,
indoors he sticks close to me and outdoors is when he keeps his distance and flanks. he's not a bullitt
sponge like that green bastard or the little furry friend.

edit:
I made Charon kill everybody in underworld before I put a bullitt in his ZOMBIE brain.

*points to signature* Only on PC, though.

 You wouldn't want me, either. In one of my games my character and Butch were in that hotel in Georgetown battling an Overlord and a couple of ordinary Super Mutants. Butch died a most horrible death - he was turned to ash! :lmao: I've never had that happen before.

I usually reload if a follower dies, especially if I've forgotten to set them essential when I first recruit them.

My Charon isn't a ghoul. He's a Tribal :hehe: I really don't like ghouls and after seeing another modders version of Charon as a Raider thought that was a great idea and did my own :)

Jericho was hands down the best when it came to him and the Heavy Incinerator. I wouldn't even have to unholster a weapon. But overall, I like Charon, who has saved my bacon on more than one occasion.

Jericho.

I mean, no one else has the Chinese Assault Rifle...which is hands down the most powerful Small Gun in the game (well the "normal" weapons). Plus, just give him Power Armour. It makes him virtually unstoppable.

My choice would be Dogmeat or his puppies. Sure he's not tough, can't use weapons or stuff but he's good to know when enemies are near by and finding stuff like ammo. Also Fawkes is good.

Its very rare for me to use a follower (I work best alone period), but depending on the character. Good:Dogmeat(yes I know anyone can use him but I only use him on my good characters), neutral: Butch or Sergeant RL-3, Evil: Jericho and sometimes clover.

But like I say I always worked best alone plus I enjoy killing fawkes while hes in his cell in vault 87 with the gas, im usually a evil character these days so I find it hillarious :).

Ya, he's my absolute fav too and I played with him on the 360 for hundreds of hours. Even now that I'm playing on the PC and have modded companion options he is still my favorite. I'm working on a mod right now to make him more interesting.

To keep him alive give him better armor. His shotty is more than adequate for the duration of a game and the stimpaks you've given him are good too. You do have to keep an eye on him around Deathclaws and large crowds. He's very aggressive and can get killed if you don't watch his back, but once you get used to playing with him he shouldn't die on you at all unless he gets all glitchy with his shotty, which can happen sometimes, but you'd know if that was happening already.

Sergeant RL-3 is mine, he can carry the second largest weight at 197.5 pounds, he is very combat effective, and fun to explore with. Plus he looks nice accompanying Godfrey in my suite.

I'm having fun with Clover again. She took out several Super Mutants with her Shiskebab last night. She and Harkness make a great team together. They flame everything in sight. I took Butch with me during Broken Steel and he jumped in front of me as I fired my Plasma Rifle. Four rounds right in the head. *Butch has died* Sigh. Reload. I would have left him dead but I have him dressed up in goofy Raider armor and a Pre-War Bonnet to entertain me.
