I don't even want to say anything, just go to this link and read:

Worth the read.

That could keep you occupied for over a year, for you'll be doing the fun things a lot more often.

It's about what i'd expect from a TES game.

Bioware and Lionhead should learn from this... them and their 15-30hr McRPGs...

I spent well over a thousand hours on Morrowind, and about 800 on Oblivion. Probably slightly less on Daggerfall over the years.

If Skyrim only lasts me three hundred hours, it'll be a bit of a disappointment.
I'm sure I'll get more time out of it than that, though.

So I may have overreacted, but 300 hours IS pretty long right? How long do you reckon oblivion was?

The character that I did 100% of everything with had about 400 hours on it.
At least half of that was just screwing around in the woods, though.

Really, you can't make reliable figures for how long it takes to "complete" a game like this; there are far too many variables.

I'd guess that Skryim will take a bit more time than Oblivion, though.

Oblivion has "over 200 hours" of gameplay.

In fairness, the variety of different ways to play mean that 300 hours is how long it'll take with one character.

In fact, thinking about it, a warrior or mage would probably have it done in a bit less, whereas a stealthy character would probably take longer. Depending on dungeon structure, of course.

Either way, I assume the vast majority of people who play Skyrim will have more than one character. I already intend to have my Dunmer assassin, my Breton Battlemage and, more than likely, an Orc beserker. So that's potentially 900 hours, give or take, there.

300 hours of content is more appropriate. The actual time people will play the game is much longer.

Its talking about it takes 300 hours to do every quest. Skyrim's Main quest is 20 to 30 hours which is longer than Oblivions 10 to 12 hour main quest. Plus Skyrim's 4 to 5 factions like in Oblivion which will most likey be 10 to 15 hours long each and the daedric shrine quests and the 100+ side quest which will be around 300 hours. Oblivion had 300 hours of content too. If you add exploring and all the other mini side things and leveling up you can add another 300 to 600 hours.

The time bethesda gave is more for a direct route. If you plan on going straight to your destination and completely the quest right away. Then maybe yeah it'll all take 300 hours. I highly doubt anyone will be doing this.

This is exactly what i was thinking as i read this, 300 hours on just one character i definitely plan on playing at least two, hopefully three, although i doubt each one will be 300 hours each maybe closer to the 150 mark. Im also guessing that 300 hours would mean completing every guild so i doubt i'll be doing that on all my characters and i probably wont complete the main quest on my second and third play throughs, especially my third. But yeah i can see myself spending at least 450-500 hours on this game. :celebration:

Im not saying this info is false...but it doesn't make sense....300 hours for main content? no way..no the game is being streamlined and i just dont see them offering 300 hours of MAIN content...now 300 hours to do EVERYTHING? like side quests and such? sure i can see that happening. But we will just have to wait and see...300 hours was nothing in the older games but it didnt take that long to whip through the main content.

That's more than I expected.

My longest Oblivion playthrough was only about 300 hours, and not only had I filled it to the edge of bursting with content mods, I also spent like a fourth of that time gathering herbs in the wilderness.

Oblivions MQ was stated without straying to last 20 hrs and 200 in content and yet I've seen people at level 2 (no joke) complete the MQ in around the time a poster on the first page said, 10-16 hours, now of course things like Fasttravel level scaling and such made this possible, so I take the time estimates with a grain of salt, and I hope its MQ for Skyrim doesnt suffer the same problems (or....blessings for some people?) that Oblivion did

If this were any other game, I'd be very surprised. But this is an Elder Scrolls game, so it's pretty much expected. I've gotten well over 1000 hours out of Oblivion and about 100 in Morrowind, and I haven't even touched the main quest, the mage's guild, the thieve's guild, the great houses, or either of the expansions yet.
