Generally, I'd agree that Telvanni npcs are particularly colorful. I always had the impression that the writers had a slight preference for Telvannis.
Other interesting ones:
- Crassius Curio: just so damn funny and repulsive in his own harmless way. A sleazy shady opportunist with a golden heart. He's overall a pretty decent guy. And he's also a total perv.
- Orvas Dren: bad guy, but interesting character. He wants the best for his people basicaly, and has no problems selling out to anyone who can give him that or killing anyone who threaten his plans. That's kind of noble in a way, yet everything he does is so plain wrong.
- Larrius Varro: he creeps me out a little. He's so devious in his righteousness. He's strangely similar to Orvas Dren, yet he gives an image of good guy.
- Vivec: just love and hate him. He still puzzles me. I want to bash his face in or kiss his feet, I don't know which.
- Dagoth Ur: kind of like with Vivec, I'm not sure what to think of him. I often hesitate and question his motives. He seems to have noble intentions but his objectives require a whole lot of death, diseases and monstruous deformities.
Writting it down, I can see how obvious it is that I have a soft spot for ambiguous characters. No perfect heroes, no absolute villains. Characters with both flaws and merits, with their own agendas, their own morality. Their goals and the actions they take to achieve them might seem way off from each others, but from their point of view, it makes sense.
