Whould you rather ride a dragon or a horse in Skyrim?

Post » Fri May 20, 2011 3:14 am

This post shouts.... ERAGON!!!! BOOOOOOOOOO!

ahem.... no thank you. I would rather ride a horse. Riding a dragon seems a little bit too cheesy for a TES game. or... cheesy period?

hm.. no no riding any dragons.. it would be really awkward, what when I land in the city? or outside? how would people react? maybe if they run away and hide. then it could be fun. but if they just go by minding there own buisness like "Hey another dragon, who cares. I got three of em!" :woot:

It would feel like overkill almost all the time, riding in on my dragon to do some shopping, The Dragonborn and his dragon roaming the world. that would be like the Champion of Cyrodiil sitting on Mehrune Dagons shoulders as he crushes the imperial city.

Just as long as as I can have a bumper sticker glued to the dragon's butt, that says "my other ride is a horse"...And that when you park your dragon, you can take out a pair of keys and set the alarm...

Firing barrages of arrrows from horseback FTW

People!
PEOPLE!

It's quite obvious from Todd's numerous answers to equally numerous questions on the matter
There won't be any freakin' dragon riding.
Get over it.

Now,horses are a different matter. If i'd to guess, I'd say they'll be in.
That's an calculated guess.
The first, well, that's just
Denial.

Am I the only one regretting opening up these forums to see all these ridiculous threads/polls in this forum? It's almost laughable the polls and questions people ask.
You can't ride Dragons. Dragons are not animals. Dragons are intelligent beings far more intelligent than humans. You think they will let you ride them?
It's almost as if these threads are meant (secretly) to start flame wars between uneducated people and educated people in terms of TES lore.

Of course they won't let you ride them...I'm just following the most recent thread postings...I didn't create the thread...

But let's not get too heated...That's why I left the Elder Scrolls:Skyrim facebook pages...Too much bickering...

If I wanted to have an argument, I'd just talk to my wife...

I hope they don't allow us to ride dragons. Things stop being interesting when anything you want to do you can do. Oh look a game with scary dragons; but now lets totally remove any mystery or threat by making them flying taxi cabs.

Good games know how to use limits and rules they keep what is happening special.

Over all, I prefer to walk--it gets my skills up faster and it's easier, though not as quick. Horses are great, but you always have to get down off the horse to fight, and they usually get chased away or they run off when you climb down to fight... If they could fix that, it would be more enjoyable to have horses. Dragons would be fun to ride and you could get around faster and easier. But I still prefer to walk. However, allow us to fight while riding a horse, and i might change my mind, because I love horses. :D

just to throw a cat into the pidgeons

i hope they removed the athletics skill or else everyone not using fast travel will have a mandatory perks line they can't avoid if there is no mounted travel.

those of you telling everyone else thier foolish for wanting dragons, don't. it'll be modded into the pc version within a month anyway. you claim it's silly. but really it's a pretty big assertion in that gameworld that your unstoppable. you can use dragon shouts to call forth a dragon allie but you can't hitch a ride? that's not a great arguament.

those of you saying their intelligent and wouldn't WANT you riding them. intelligent creatures can be reasoned with and reasonable creatures can have symbiotic relationships. dragons opposed to the "eat the world" fiasco...conscientious objectors if you will, may form alliances with certain cities and MAY concede to supplying transport for high value targets.

my opinion is i dont care. fast travel is still far faster. i dont care how the lore explains it i'm playing the quest bits of TES not picking flowers.

you dont use dragon shouts to call a dragon allie? its a specific power like stopping time..there goes your argument

Giant Warthogs, like they did in LoZ: Twilight Princess :D

Okay I had my fun, now more seriously I would prefer walking or horseback riding. Magical transportation? I have no problem with that. A more involved fast travel system (like in Daggerfall)? I'm all for it. But dragon mounts? I'm all for adding options, but there's adding legitimate options and then there's adding options for the sake of adding options and dragon mounts fall squarely into the latter category.

Nimbus Cloud!

Horses are a close second though as a mode of transport. I would rather walk, but if I would have to choose it should be horses.

Why remove a skill that is obviously useful? Indeed, why remove more skills than is strictly necessary?

those of you telling everyone else thier foolish for wanting dragons, don't. it'll be modded into the pc version within a month anyway. you claim it's silly. but really it's a pretty big assertion in that gameworld that your unstoppable. you can use dragon shouts to call forth a dragon allie but you can't hitch a ride? that's not a great arguament.
It's most likely going to be a temporary summoning and if their size are comparable to http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Category:Pet_Wyverns it would not make any sense if they could carry the weight of a full grown humanoid plus all their gear.

those of you saying their intelligent and wouldn't WANT you riding them. intelligent creatures can be reasoned with and reasonable creatures can have symbiotic relationships. dragons opposed to the "eat the world" fiasco...conscientious objectors if you will, may form alliances with certain cities and MAY concede to supplying transport for high value targets.
Intelligence is (unfortunately) not the same as consciousness.

my opinion is i dont care. fast travel is still far faster. i dont care how the lore explains it i'm playing the quest bits of TES not picking flowers.
I've said once, I said it a thousand times. People who moan about fast travel are almost all Morowhiners and are complaining for the sheer sake of complaining. Fast travel was in before Morowhine, and you could even fast travel to places you never even been to before.
