Neither. With fast travel mounts are pointless. And mounts were horribly done in Oblivion. Plus I don't want to pay 6 bucks for dragon armor.

Horse, or walk. I don't fast travel, and dragons don't seem like the type of creatures that like to be ridden (plus Todd already said you wouldn't be able to in the GI Q&A podcast).

Also this should be in the Skyrim section. A mod can move it for you.

Mount (in Oblivion anyway) weren't pointless even with fast travel, the speed of the mount you were on when you fast traveled effected how much game time actually passed during the course of fast traveling. That being said, perhaps saving any time during travel was a mite pointless, since there's no real sense of urgency to be had.

Given the option of a mount, I'd much sooner take a horse over a dragon. Riding a dragon just seems overkill, kind of like taking an Apache chopper to work.

I disagree with all of that.

There was plenty of points to having horses in Oblivion. It's not as though fast travel enables the player to instantly travel everywhere on the map. You have to discover places first, and horses helped the player get there. Mounts were also not done that poorly, yeah, they could have been done better, but it certainly wasn't horrible. I use horses in Oblivion all the time.

That said, I don't want to ride on a dragon.

A horse, of course!

Where I grew up, we had horses in RL. From my upbringing, horses are seen in a positive light. Memories are filled with thoughts of many good times on horseback.

I liked horses in the game, Oblivion.

It was asthetically pleasing to see my character on her horse(s). The practicality of horses in Oblivion is a separate issue, but I enjoyed seeing and using them. Modders made their application even better.

With respect to Skyrim, we have seen horses in the trailer and in comcept art, and I would not be surprised to see them in some form in the actual game. And if one could ride them, it would be great, for me, anyway.

If one would choose to ignore them, and fast travel everywhere, go for it.

If possible, I will walk, or ride when, and where practical.

But, I won't buy DLC horse armor, lol.

Most certainly a horse. For me it adds much to my gaming experience to have a horse rather than just walking everywhere. Even if fast-travel was available I would still use the horse to go from place to place. If I'm going to be spending time in a virtual world, I may as well take the scenic route and enjoy it.

None, I'd rather teleport.

Honestly, I think the idea of riding a dragon is just ridiculous. It would totally take away the feeling of the power of dragons.

Definitely a horse for me. From the time Skyrim was announced, I was dreading the thought of a dragon mount. I thought it was inevitable that you would be able to befriend dragons and eventually ride them, and was very relieved to hear from Todd Howard that dragons are unfriendly beings through and through. That said, riding horses in Oblivion was definitely awkward. It just didn't control well. But I have faith that they'll fix this. Hopefully there will be weapon support as well. I'd like to at least be able to cast a spell or pull a bow while on horseback. Climbing on and off of my horse every time a wolf came around was very tiring.

So, granted that it's done well, horseback.

Dragon riding? No way whatsoever, just get Divinity 2 DKS and become a dragon if it's that important. Horses are ok, but would in all honesty prefer a packhorse to a warhorse, and only if it stays in the city stables, instead of following automatically to dungeons, and becoming wolf food.

[Shouldn't this be in Skyrim general discussion, there is so much madness there, it really shouldn't be allowed to spread to the other forums]

I put down walk, but I'd rather fly.... without the need of a dragon or mount at all.... levitation? who needs that, proper flying... that is what is needed.

Dragon-riding is stupid and ridiculous. Normally, I at least try to respect other opinions but this one is just too horrible to even pretend to tolerate. The most annoying thing is that it keeps on coming back in threads like these... To people who keep on making threads about it; please stop.

And I for one would would like horse-riding in, especially if fast-travel is included. If it is, I won't use it and so I'll just have to walk everywhere, and horses will help with that. Not to mention they're good for RPing at least.

Horse.

A dragon mount, specially in the context of Skyrim, seems to me rather ridiculous, where they're supposed to be the big bad dudes of the game, how can it be explained we could ride one?Just seems to me rather unreasonable.
And like others pointed here "that mounts are useless with fast travel",i for one wont be using fast travel out of choice and stick to mounts/walk and the mods that will come for sure if needed for other plausible means of transportation.

I'll personally walk since I don't like mounts and hope that we will have an alternative way of fast travel (something Morrowind-like).
Also, I personally think that riding a dragon is plain silly. >.>
We should be able to ride horses though and should be able to attack and cast spell while on them also.

As cool as a dragon sounds I doubt it will happen due to how fast you could travel the map and get to those hard to reach places. It could work as a bonus for completing the game.

IMO I hate dragon mounts but I do not mind if they are in the game as long as I do not have to use them. I don't mind a horse either but I usually either walk or fast travel if I am pressed for time. Dragon mounts to me makes the dragon's seems less intense and more tame.

When my beautiful horse was slaughtered at Sancre Tor, I made the decision that I'd be walking from then on. I just couldn't stand it.

Ehhh. Depends. If dragons are only available during late-game, I'd prefer that. Using them too early on would make it all too easy to explore and avoid various dangers. A horse is a nice compromise as I'm sure there will be beasts faster then a horse to provide some thrilling chases.

Guys. The Dragons are villians. VILLAINS. You can't go riding around on Daedra in Oblivion. Todd himself said "Don't expect it to happen". Just wait for a talented modder though...
