It's fall, people need that stuff done and don't want to do it themselves. Don't be shy, just start knocking on doors. Pick things that dont require supplies, like cleaning products.

If anyone asks, you want to buy a present for your girlfriend. Pick something out before hand that costs more than what you are asking. If you tell people you want to buy a video game, they're going to assume your parents wouldn't buy it for you and say no.
