Seriously i dont understand why everyones giving this game such a hard time complaining about gamebreaking glitches and it being too short/small. I pre-ordered the game picked it up the day of release and ive played for about 75 hours so far and im not even close to being done i really like to explore though ive been a fan of the fallout series since the Original Fallout i must have played throught fallout 1&2&3 at least 15 times each and ive got to say new vegas has been an fantastic fallout experiance i havent had many problems at all since i started playing ive froze/locked up 3 times once while just running thru the desert once at a load screen and once during a conversation easy enough to load the last save continue on and i fell through and got stuck inside a rock/mountain but thats about it ive found nothing to be "gamebreaking" a few minor issues that will be adressed very soon im sure i mean this game is HUGE a few bugs are bound to make it past testing before release but thats what patches are for as a long time fallout fan i gotta say good job to the developers the fallout series is only getting better and i already cant wait for the next installment keep up the GREAT work guys!!!

Likewise. This is one of the most successful games in my book. I have some minor trivial complaints, but they're like specks of dust in the big picture. I really don't like it when players act as though they are entitled to X, Y and Z, and start demanding free DLCs because they were subjected to a minor bug.

Well after 35 hours of gameplay, when both your saves are locked up by the Right anolog stick not responding at all... Then coming onto the Software and Issues section, and noticing theres about 10 other gamebreaking type bugs like this... Yeah, I understand where the hate stems from.

Second that. Sure there has been a few minor bugs, but nothing "game breaking" or any major bugs.

I wouldn't say that everyone is giving the game a hard time, although being honest there is an overly vocal group who are.

Having got that slight nitpick out of the way, personally I'm thoroughly enjoying New Vegas aven though I have encountered a couple of minor glitches, a reasonably serious problem and of course a major "DOH !!!!" (a problem which if I had thought about, could have anticipated) moment.

I think its also because those who complain are also comparing this game to Fallout 3 and they expect alot more (a map twice as big as that of Fallout 3 for a start?). I agree, New Vegas is another great Fallout game, and has surpassed the third game by a long shot.

My only complaint with the game so far is that 360 DLC bug that locks up your saves. All my saves are locked up, and I don't even want to start a new game 'cause the glitch can happen at any time, and removing or not adding the DLC doesn't stop the glitch from happening to you either. That said, I enjoyed the 20 or so hours I had put into the game. I like this game better than FO3 especially 'cause of the faction standing system and the weapon mods. I'm patiently waiting for the patch that will fix the game so I can play again.

About the map... Why do all maps have to be square? Maybe they wanted to make it like that, they did not intend to fill the empty spots because that's not a part of the map. The reason why it looks like a square is because a non-square map would look weird. My thoughts.

I don't really have any problems with the game, and I rarely encounter any glitches. Fallout 3 was met with a lot of hate at its release, so it just makes sense, I guess. People like to complain about anything Fallout-related that bears the Bethesda logo, even if New Vegas was developed by Obsidian.

This happened to me too. It's a pain in the ass sometimes to have an Xbox 360.

I'm with the OP 100%
Allthough it does seem that most of the big problems are occuring on the console versions. And in those cases it really is a developer problem.

IMO Fallout New Vegas felt alot more like Fallout 1&2 though putting aside the obvious gameplay diffrences a first person shooter opposed to a turn based style of play New Vegas just felt more like fallout to me then 3 did i dont know if anyone else got this feeling from it too

Well Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 had a lot of hate and so did and do a lot of other games. But to be fair Call Of Duty: MW2 did really svck but thats besides the point.

When you consider that those who are enjoying and playing the game and getting hooked like I am are too busy playing it to come here and complain about a crash or a bug lol

Seriously though, people are FAR more likely to complain than to compliment, you think of it this way, say I went out and bought a pie from a bakery, if I take said pie home and find a fly in it I am VERY likely to take the pie back and complain and ask for a refund and generally be very grumpy! On the other hand if I went home and found out that the bakery had made a splendid pie and had infact given me another for free, I am alot less likely to make the same trip back to the bakery and compliment them!

You see people think the world owes them something when things go wrong whereas when things go right people feel they are justified and deserve it.

50 hours in only 3 crashes, haven't found any game breaking bugs and having ALOT of fun atm!

Yep.

It's a game forum. Those are always distilled and concentrated, with all the best and worst of the fandom jammed into a echo chamber that magnifies everything they/we say.

Game forums aren't always the most accurate representation of the player base.

The combat is fun, I love the sandbox aspect, I love the consequences, I love the multiple viable builds... but the fact that I can't ever get immersed in the game because I keep worrying about my 10th freeze and 2nd corrupted autosave happening is a flaw that shouldn't be handwaved. I play on a console because I got tired of compatibility issues coming up for different drivers/graphics cards on the PC, and consoles have standardized hardware and software that makes them easier to program for - well, Obsidian's QA is such a bunch of clown shoes that they left a ton of game-breaking bugs on a console.
