Why are dweller-specific weapons called Legendary?

I've played this game too much in the past month and this has brought up some thoughts in my head. And this is the one that I feel very strongly about (other than the occasional crashes; though they've been fixed for the most part so I'm happy for that). Thanks for 1.0.3! :D

Anyway, when opening lunch boxes you know there's that glorious golden-yellow shine that basically tells you: "here is a gift from the angels." Well sometimes that's not the case. The most disappointing is when a Blackhawk (dmg: 3-8) or even worse, a Wild Bill's Sidearm (dmg: 1-6) pops out to tell you: "the game hates you."

I firmly believe that these dweller-specific weapons should not be termed Legendary Weapons. They should be called a "Unique" or "Special" (to go along with the whole SPECIAL theme of the franchise).

These "Unique" or "Special" weapons--in my opinion--should be termed just that, and should be grouped with the Rare items in the Lunch Box openings. e.g. Red Rocket, Wild Bill's Sidearm, Lone Wanderer, Lone Wanderer, Lincoln's Repeater, and even the Infiltrator do not compare to the dmg: ~20+ of the actual Legendary Weapons in-game.

Thanks for reading; let me know if you agree! :D

You have to look at those weapons as legendary within their weapon class, not overall, yes red rocket is a crap weapon compared to a flamer or fat man, but compared to every other BB gun, its the best.

I aggree that getting a lower damage legendary like the blackhawk or lincolns repeater is a bit aggitating, but I feel the legendary status is within reason as they are the best of their type of weapon.

You have a really good point. However, since there are no RPG-like "classes" in the game where only a certain "class" can equip certain weapons, the fact that it's the best of its weapon type is not that important. You know what I mean?

Just as an example, all of the outfits that are categorized as Legendary have bonuses to the SPECIAL stats of +7 or higher (and Rares are ~+5) except for those that are more unique, like the various Power Armors. The Power Armors are all classified as Legendary even though some, like the T-45a Power Armor only have a total SPECIAL bonus of ~5.

This is why I think that a classification of "Unique" or "Special" would be more appropriate.

I don't mean to say that your thoughts were stupid or anything, I'm just simply disagreeing. :D
