Why are most of my friends girls?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:03 am

I was in the shower this morning, deep in though (as always) I suddenly realized that most of my friends are girls. I'm a dude but I only have a few bro friends and they are ones I've known since elementary, but besides them I must have at least a dozen or so best chick friends. I think its due to the fact that I think a lot of guys my age are obnoxious or straight up jerks (no one on these forums though, you're all cool) dont get me wrong, I'm loud and goofy and sometimes annoying but I just find girls to be better friends and I dont know why. I even ditched my old lunch table with a few of my guy friends to sit by my girlfriend and her chick friends, needless to say my friends pulled the old "bros before you-know-what card" :P

Also before anyone asks I do not paint my nails with them and talk for hours over the phone with them, I'm still a manly-ish man I just hang out with girls more than guys and I'm wondering if anyone else here tends to be better friends with the opposite gender.

Yup, my wife is my best friend. I have very few people I'my life I call friends, most are women, it's not strange.

Also, next time your guy friends pull the "bros before hos" card, ask them Which of the girls is a ho and challenge them to prove it. I laugh at guys trying to play that card, they always play it incorrectly and it makes them look like idiots.

I know what that's like. Don't get me wrong, I'm probably the most obnoxious guy of all time, but girls really are more mature at this age, and I'm on the same wavelength with them most of the time. I take part in my fair share of bromance too though, so I don't get any heat. :D

Edit: Oh yeah, and there isn't exactly a solution to this, as it isn't a problem. Just who you are! :)

I know what you mean, man. I tend to get along with female friends better.

How old are you OP?

Don't take it as insulting, I'm very young (15) and I was just curious.

You could always ask them why they are so insistent about spending more time with males than females. I tend to prefer hanging out with women instead of other guys.

By the way, why were you thinking about them in the shower? Ew.

(This is probably the exact reason why you don't get a long with most other guys.) :P

Why not? I have on a few occasions, it can be kind of fun then again I'm usually in a different state of mind and don't really care for gender stereotypes. I do tend to find womenz to be easier to talk to about certain things, and they provide a different sort of fun compared to guys. I wouldn't necessarily say I have more female friends than male, I probably have a pretty equal spread. I agree that a lot of guys in my age group (highschool) are pretty dense, either talking about sports, chicks (not in a good way), or other "manly" things (cars, videogames [aka Call of Duty/latest sports game], generally things that cement the alpha male stereotype). Honestly, it's almost a little homophobic but I won't get into that.

All that matters is you like the company you're around.

It'll fade a bit when you get older, I was the same way from about age 16-20, 90% of my friends were girls. Now that I'm married and 30(well, 8 months from now) with 2 kids, I only have one female friend and thats my wife ^^

Heh, don't worry about it. Nothing wrong with hanging out with women. Your cultivating an essential skill here, the ability to understand women in a social situation. "Bro's before that thingy" is really an excuse to not become comfortable with the other gender.

@Op, your 17? your story reminds me of high school. First day, lunch time. I sit an empty table that just so happens to be used exclusively by some clique of girls. They were impressed by my ballsy seating choice. I was confused about why they were impressed.

FRIEND ZONE!

Lol I'm just kidding man, a few of my closest friends in high school were girls, but I wouldn't say that I had more girl friends than guy friends. Some people just get along better with girls, but I wouldn't look down on all other guys in your school. While you're thinking that they're just a bunch of losers they're probably thinking you're gay, especially if you're acting snooty to them. I can't say for sure if you are, but not every single guy in high school is a loser like you described, I'd say the majority aren't.

I seem to have a tendency towards it, too. Not sure on the why, but I see no reason to be bothered about it. People are people, and when it comes to friendships, the location and form of a person's gonads is of minimal importance .

EDIT: And I'm 21, if that's relevant.

Could just be the way the cookie crumbles.

I have about an even amount of gender in my friends.

I guess I'm much the same. I just don't seem to get along with men as easily. I am rather belligerent.

Most men I know also talk out their asses about [censored] that nobody cares about, while most of the women and a few of the men I know are more lucid.
