Why are most games released earlier in the US?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 2:08 am

Im not complaining i just want to know.

For example Crysis is made my German and British devs but it being released in US earlier i thought it may be because EA is from US but another game called R.U.S.E that was published by Ubisoft (French) and developed by Eugen systems (French) was still brought out in the US before anywhere else.

Anyone know why?

That doesn't make it any less true. Most of the time the real-world answer doesn't make much sense.

Because majority of the discs for games and movies are made in Mexico?

I know that the NTSC version of Ico (for the Playstation 2) was released earlier in the United States than the PAL version, because they wanted to cash in on the holidays (It was released sometime before Christmas). Which actually wasn't a good thing, as the PAL version got more development time and thus, additional features. So maybe there are economic reasons for releasing in North America initially.
