Why are people so cruel to Lydia?

I personally think Lydia is cool and she tries to do her best to protect you and even die for you. Why do people like to make fun of her?

Because she sits in my bedroom all the time and watches me like a creep. There are tables and chairs downstairs you pervert.

I want to know why there's so many threads about Lydia when there seems to be an incredible amount of companions. I guess she could be the first one you get, although I had a couple before her.

Main reason? She's the first housecarl you'll probably get. She lives in your house whether you want her to or not. Her bed is "owned"...in your own home! You have to admit why people would want her, or any housecarl, dead.

Lydia is my terror twin. I let her have her snarkiness 'cause she's always got my back!

This is why my character owns more than one house. Lydia lives in the house in Whiterun, while I live in the house in Riften. We never see each other and that suits my character just fine. No creepy eyes watching my character sleeping

Lydia's gone now. She...uhhh...she went to live with a really nice family. **shifty eyes** In the country! Did I mention they have a farm? Lydia can run freely over the fields and frolic all day long now. With that really, really nice family. In the country. On a farm.

ohh you sneaky ! :whistling:

Yes, oh great and mighty Thane? Is there something you need? Can I carry your weapon? Shine your boots? Backrub, perhaps?

I took her out one day ... then she took an arrow to the knee. Now she is under house arrest.

Lydia died in my game then haunted me.. She appeared at my wedding, on the floor of my house, she got into Sovengarde dead somehow, and she once appeared in the ravine under the collage of winterhold.. But then she stopped stalking me..

The one time I used a companion I have put a mask on her face.
But she still was annoying. I prefer raised Zombies by far.

I hated her and had stopped using her until the opportunity to get rid of her once and for all came about and she was able to fulfill one last ultimate purpose...I almost felt bad when I
Spoiler
sacrificed her to Botheah
but it's done now.

Her tactics were driving me crazy but were mitigated somewhat when I learned not to give her a melee weapon that does more damage than her bow or staves (she dual wields). However once I gave her the Foresworn armor I acquired while in jail all her past misdeeds were forgiven.

because she is always sitting in MY bedroom eating a gods-be-damned loaf of bread! she never leaves! she never sleeps! she just sits there and eats baked goods, and when I go to give her something useful like an Imperial Bow and hundred Steel Arrows, she COMPLAINS!

that is why I so cruelly sighed her up for the Blades. Next step, take her dragon hunting...hint hint

I think she is loveable. Her stats are lower than housecarls you get later in the game. Same number of triangles, dont see what the fuss is about.

Adore her actually. She has a great tendency to place arrows in the heads of things standing in my way.

I just don't like Lydia all that much, whenever I let her carry one of my staffs, she uses it constantly and drains all of it's charge, no matter how crappy the staff is in combat.
I punish her for this by applying ebony arrows to her face.
Or her knees, you know, so she can walk around and say "I used to be Tyko's companion, but then I took an arrow to the knee"
