I don't mind hard games that require me to take my time, that is my normal game play style for a lot of games. My kids often watch me play and they are like "MUM! Just go around the corner already, there's probably nothing there" lol. What annoys me in TEW is that I take my time, am cautious, observe the enemies, map out my route, think about my game plan, only to play for half an hour or more, die, then have to do that half hour or more gameplay all over again because of the save system. I'm only on chapter 3, as I don't get a lot of time to play. Because of this, I will play for half an hour, end up dead, get put back to the last save or last checkpoint, which usually means I have to basically replay everything I've just done, so I end up turning off the game in frustration. I guess I'm used to games where I can save at any point, or at least more frequent save points.
I agree that watching trailers etc should give you an idea of the game TO A DEGREE. I try not to watch gameplay videos too much, because that tends to spoil the game for me, I don't like knowing what is going to happen in the game, or what to expect, so I limit myself to gameplay videos that show the beginning of the game only. I did this with TEW, so I expected the game to be similar to TLOU, with crafting of items, minimal supplies, enemies that you could fight or sneak past. TLOU is one of my favourite games, so I was sure I would love TEW. I am liking it, but I know that as I get further, it will just end up frustrating me rather than being fun, because already chapter 3 is frustrating me.
