Why are pirates able to play this game online for free?

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 4:44 pm

I guess its not enough to say that this game was $60 dollars and that the game came unfinished, I just beat the singleplayer and had to do so on one gpu because multi-gpu doesn't work. But now when i went online the game is being played from hacked copies or downloaded versions for free.... I paid and didn't get anything worth it at least these guys got the game for free.

We’ve been working hard to resolve as many of the post-launch issues as possible including some improvements to our game security. These updates will be made available via automatic-download later this week.

Thanks. Good to know some fixes are incoming. Are you able to tell me if this includes fixes for the odd Multi-GPU flickering I've been experiencing? I haven't been able to play this yet as I'm not willing to run the game on one GPU and suffer with sub-60 FPS.

When they do patch it, they need to turn off autoupdate at least for the next few patches, and only give access to the patches to Users who can prove their valid s/n key. It might be a pain for us people whom bought the game, but it should put a damper on the pirates, till someone gives them the patches again. Might not stop them all, But anyways, it will thin the hurd some Im sure.

think the cheaters are more g*y then the pirates... (for us, who owned the original game)
pirates "just" play illigal...cheaters destroy everything... anyway both is totally g*y :/

HOPEFULLY patch 1.2 will fix both of it...and dx11 ;)

We pay for it because it hurts to have your work stolen, just because some clever people can get passed the games initial security it does not mean that you should feel it is ok to get pirated games and not pay for the hard work of the developers. The single player game alone was worth every penny, for me.

Exactly this. I mean you may as well bring up the fact that people also steal films, music, etc etc and yet people still pay for it. You're supporting the developers who spent countless hours working on it.

Crysis 2 was well worth my money!! The SP has kept me engaged for quite some time! It is indeed sad that MP works for the pirated copy :( I do hope their future patch will fend off the cheaters/pirates. I would like to play MP :)

PLEASE don't say that. Pirates are THE worst. Pirates affect the future of PC Gaming in such a terrible way. Cheaters only affect the multiplayer of one game. People need to wake up, we're in the console age, where every single developer makes more money from their console version than their PC version. More pirates mean less sales, less sales mean less and less reasons to make a PC version. I'm not saying we won't see any PC version at all in a near future. I'm saying Devs won't give a damn about their PC version and just make a crap X360 port that cost them almost nothing.

I didn't know about this until now. Man, Crytek, come on... really? How could you let that happen? There's a difference between trying to fix a graphical issue or a collision... and having a bug which lets ANYONE play the game online for free. I mean... Multiplayer is most of the time the reason why people buy a PC version. Because if they don't buy it, they can't play it. That's... disappointing.

Patch 1.2 won't do anything, they just crack it and post it online in as little as a few hours. Crytek needs to be on the ball with this, cheaters are so god damn rampant rightw now that it's gonna kill the game faster than even no support would. Pirates who at least are playing fair are the least of the problems, the major one right now are the hackers ruining it for everyone. When that's done they can deal with the illigal copies.

Well I will keep my hopes up, but if this isn't resolved I will no longer support crytek products/games. I had high expectations based off of crysis 1.

Not only can I not login, I can't even muster up the enthusiasm to go online. I've heard it from a few friends who have been online as well as on here. Hearsay or not, the community really needs some form of support from the devs. No sense me paying £30 preordering a game I can't play, and whenever I can the online experience will be absolutely horrible. I pre-ordered hoping the game would be amazing but the problems are many; gamespy login issues, actual login issues, serial issues, gameplay issues, gpu issues chat/friends list issues. Feels like we're still in the beta.

i dont know who tested this game but fire them! you cant have this game tested for such a long period without having any issues that this game have atm.

i looks like you released that leaked beta from a while back and added some quick extras in it.

Most people who Pirate will buy something if they like it if they don't they get rid of it, others that won't pay for it couldn't afford it anyways. A small minority will pirate just so as not to pay anything for it be because they svck at life.

With the crap games that are coming out and demo's that don't show enough to make a decsion if the game is worth it, as a PC player its hard to justify paying for something i am unsure I will like.
Crysis 2 is a good example of this, and after my experiance with this game, I now feel it is completly wrong for a company to produce a game and expect people to take thier word that it's worth $60, most of the demo's produced these days are NOT an accurate reflection of the game's they demo.
I get to test drive a car, why not a game? And for the record I didn't "test drive" this game, wish I had, I would have turned and walked away and still had 60 bucks to spend on something worth it.

Crysis 2 was well worth my money!! The SP has kept me engaged for quite some time! It is indeed sad that MP works for the pirated copy :( I do hope their future patch will fend off the cheaters/pirates. I would like to play MP :)

Crysis 2 is far from what was promised, and there are bugs that NEVER should have made it to release. this games was not worth 60 bucks, I would pay at most 30 for it. They lied about DX11 they lied about it being a PC first game, they lied about it being better then Crysis 1.
This game stinks of a console port over now they have to back peddle to fix things that never should have existed at release, we payed 60 bucks for for a beta.
Do you like being a doormat for developers that produce crap, sprinkle some honey on it and say "Look! Its a honey cake! Only 60 dollors!". Today's consoles have reduce quality of games for larger profit margins and it makes me a sad panda.

Seems like crytek had a beta version for "fun" because it works and runs the same as the beta version. Very disappointing game.

Crytek is ... the thing is getting "ugly" for you ...

Without advanced options for graphics

Without Direct x11 [Dx 10 or 10.1 would be ideal for me!]

What's worse, Pirates and playing online with cheats.

Correct that and be the best producer in the world [Again] ... and the best games!

Despite these details, I love the game!

Excellent engine, congratulations.

Seriously, you want them to set something up like that?!? They couldn't even get friggin promo codes to work for people. Let alone some sort of patch security login. The way this game has been released, I'm actually afraid of what updates are coming our way now.
