Why are TES YOUR favourite games?

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 1:37 am

The reason TES games are my favourite games is because they give you a true open world. Other games play around with being open world, but no game I have ever seen has done open world like past TES games (Daggerfall and Morrowind). Oblivion... well... I played it. :D

They are real unique and open worlds, and they don't just LOOK like it like in a game such as Assassin's creed. Everyone is real and does real things. You can go in every house and steal things. You can have a fight with anyone and can do anything you want, and many different people will have quests for you, and and and.... well yeah, you can do anything pretty much. It's a very versatile series, though of course the basis is in action adventure.

Well you got half of my answer in that post but another biggie is because it is not an mmo, and out of all my favorite games the lore of TES is the most interesting. Tbh, I was never a lore guy until I got into TES

The stories, the lore, the environments, the characters, and the sheer amount of freedom.

I love a sandbox, whether it's TES, Fallout, or something else. I also enjoy the X series of games from Egosoft as outer space sandboxes, though I have such a number of frustrations with X and its developers that it leads me to enjoy that particular sandbox a bit less than the ones provided by Bethesda. At least it's just as moddable as the Bethesda sandboxes are.

I kinda like the GTA sandbox, but you always have to be an ***hole in that one. Makes it kinda limited.

I guess I just love sandboxes.

For all these reasons, I like TES better than any other games I've ever played before. And I also like the fantasy/historic aspects to the game. I love history, and the medieval times are one of my favorite in RL history. So, a game like TES has no equal, as far as I'm concerned. :tes:

They are my favourite games because of the lore!

I mean sometimes when I play I'll spend hours just reading book, and I'll never get bored!

Quite a lot of reasons.

- The bibliophile in me, naturally, can't get enough of all those well-written books. :read: As well as the interesting storylines of the games themselves.

- The historian in me loves the depth of history and lore, and the realism of the many arguments and ambiguous matters within it. There isn't a lot of fiction that has that much of a devotion to grounding their settings in such a believable context.

- The roleplayer in me loves, along with the above history and lore, the depth of customisation in the games after Arena (excluding Redguard, of course).

- The feminist in me, pleasantly surprised, appreciates the female characters in Daggerfall and to somewhat (though still not too much) a lesser extent Morrowind, and how they're prortrayed.

- The audiophile in me just wants to keep listening to all that beautiful music.

- The naturalist in me enjoys wandering Morrowind, taking in the landscape and seeing all the unique flora and fauna (and wishing they'd stop attacking me <_< ).

- The gamer in me, though a rather minor part of me, finds the games pretty fun to play at that, though Daggerfall has a lot over the next two games in that regard.

- The crush on Sean Bean in me likes Oblivion just because he's there.
