Why are the Bretons shorter than their ancestral races?

Post » Mon Apr 06, 2015 9:01 pm

This is one question that continues to puzzle me, it's widely believed that the Bretons are the offspring of the Nedes/Nords/Atmorans (the Nedes are commonly considered to be descended from the Atmorans, much like the Nords) and the Aldmer, both the Atmorans and their descendant races - the Nords and the Nedes, and the Aldmer, were pretty tall races, so if the Bretons are the children of two very tall races then how come they don't carry the "tall genes" of their ancestors? Because Bretons are shorter than both their Nordic and Altmeri cousins. Anyone know why this is?

Good question and I don't know.

Heh, my frustration is having to tweak Bosmer down to the height I believe they should be.

Maybe they did not inherit the gene that makes them taller.

Maybe...the belief is wrong?

Why aren't Imperials tall? Why aren't Bosmer tall? Imperials came from Nedes or Atmorans, and Bosmer came from Aldmer.

Also, it's also surmised that "Nedes" may have been a native race to Tamriel before they evolved (primarily) into Imperials. The Nibenese sub-race is believed to be the most like the original Nedes. It certainly fits into the "wandering" Ehlnofey that were the primordial Men (as opposed to the primordial Elves, the "Old" Ehlnofey). One group of Wandering Ehlnofey became the Atmorans, another became the Nedes (some of which were were interbred with Aldmer in High Rock), and a third ended up in Yokuda.
