The game can't really handle large amounts of NPCs in one location at once.

I think it is to kill whatever little bit of immersion you might have built getting to the strip.
Seriously, I don't know, but if the strip is supposed to be "the spot" - having one person at a card game in a tiny little casino is lame.
But, I think the whole game is lame so I'm probably not a good person to ask.

This is one of those situations where quantity would equate to quality. Sadly, Obsidian really pushed the engines buttons by creating large interior cells populated with tons of static objects and people.

Why would you be on the forum if you thought the game was lame ?

People love to grind axes.

The real-life answer is the creaky engine can't handle it.

Perhaps it is because the Casinos keep banning winners ;) IDK the real reason, but I can imagine that their ban-lists are quite long now.

^This^
I know some of us have pc's that could handle the extra, but on the whole medium end pc's and consoles would struggle, I have a reasonably powerful pc, but even that starts to get bogged down with a several NPCs in view.

Thats exactly right. The Tops is a good example of that. It has so much glitz going on, for me at least, it tends to have a brief 'hic-up' moment in the casino floors. Or maybe it's because I play hours on end.

Either way, for what they are, the casinos, namely The Ultra Luxe, are superb. They pushed the atmosphere on you rather than crowds. Had they tried to do a mid-line, the casinos risked coming out rather bland. Push to much crowd, and it'd be cluttered. Push to much casino, it'd have to lose some people in the casino. Personally I rather casino over people, but, to each their own.

During an apocalypse, who the hell would be gambling anyway? The Vegas strip was a huge letdown... the fact that you cant even play but three games is lazy... the fact that you have lots of slot machines but can only play one is just insane.... Having a max bet of 200, what the hell is that? Rushed, Rushed, Rushed... this game didnt get the attention it needed or the facelift. Fallout 3 was good for its time but you dont release a game a few years later that looks the SAME and in worse shape... the community should expect more.

The game is lame and most of us are on the forums because of the technical problems, trying to find answers from the company that put this mess out... or at work ;)

Because the engine is still a terrible piece of crap, as it always has been.

I was in Vegas last May and I noticed that the Casinos were more empty than I would have expected. While there were lots of people on the strip and walking around having a good time, the amount of gamblers was quite small comparatively. I remember walking through the Bellagio and seeing 4 tables active for Blackjack. Could have been the $50 Minimums at the tables too. Most of the other casinos were the same way, except for the Minimums.

Of course at night there were more folks in there, but even then it seemed to me that gambling was not that popular anymore. Or, maybe the popularity is the same, but there are so many places to gamble now, they are more spread out. However, even at about 9PM when you would expect the casinos to be packed, maybe half the tables were empty.

Now, I could stand to see a few more NPCs in the casinos, and perhaps the scripting can be pared down to the point that a modder could add some NPCs without bringing things to their knees, but we will have to see.

You're not here because of technical problems, you're here to overstate the technical problems as much as possible because it's the only 'sensational' thing happening in your life.

Fallout NV, TES5, and hell, just about every game made until the next console generation are going to look like this. The industry is stuck on 5 year old hardware, and that's not going to change till MS and Sony have svcked every penny dry, or until everyone comes to their senses and starts gaming on PCs. Fallout3 was pushing the boundries of the hardware, and new vegas has pushed them a tad further, hence the many reported slowdowns and lag.

Don't blame the devs, blame the Tens of Millions of gamers that supported a console industry that forces this kind of stagnation.
