They were all blue in crysis and warhead...

And remember the signal transmitted through the suit used at the end of crysis to defeat them? What happened to that?

I played the SP and heard some NPC shouting "SQUID!!!!". I mean... what squid? The only squid i am familiar with are those aliens from Crysis1 and Warhead, they're all blue and looks kinda scary ( reminds of the movie Independence Day) and looks kinda cool too ( they shoot ice ).

The original Ceph were blue and seemed to prefer the cold. The weaponry was based on darts and could have been ice. Now we have red ones that are bipeds, where the blues were more squid like and levitated off the ground. The C1 and CWH "drop ships" were creatures in their own right with ice/beam weapons and now we have something that looks more like a vehicle with a scattershot weapon. And then we had the huge ships towards the end of the C1 and CWH games.

How does the tranition from Blues to Reds make any sense what so ever when considering the original storyline? Where's Noman and Psycho? And what happened back at the Island where C1 and CWH left off?

**Potential Spoilers**

Well, the Ceph were apparently on Earth long before humans and while it is unlikely that they originated here perhaps there is ethnic diversity amongst them and you're all being both specist against the Ceph and racist against the Red Ceph.

Its called, "How can we make the storyline make sense for people that didn't play the first Crysis games, and by that I mean most of the console folks this has to be adapted to"? :-D

They could at least explain what happened to Nomad and Psycho. They were the main 2 protaginists you used in the first games. Did they just fade into Oblivion? What?

Ok, all jokes aside, although this game doesn't explain what the hell happened since the last game, I kind of came to the conclusion that the Ceph came to assist their blue friends that were here on Earth that we fought in Crysis and Warhead.

I played through these game again last week before starting Crysis 2, and at one point toward the end, the Stickland woman (forget her name even though she's in Crysis 2), says that the mountain is "Sending out a Beacon into deep space, most likely calling for help".

So I assumed that the Ceph, with all their new technology we didn't see in Crysis 1 were the reinforcements from space.

+1 to that, the lingshan island ceph were there for ages in a dormant state, I thought the bipedal ceph were from space and just 'revived' the technology they left under the world.

Anyway, it doesn't matter to me, I just like stealth killing and bashing the heck outta the squids (too used to knife only gameplay in BC2, lol)

yeah but it's 3 years on or something isn't it so Nomad is probably tired of violence and nano technology and has relocated to Korea because he actually like Koreans and thinks the women are hot.

Psycho went back home to London, his real name is Jason Statham and he made a few movies, got bored of killing aliens and nano technology. He gives the odd Korean a slap now and again. just for old times sake.

I hope this had filled in all relevant plot holes for you.

Actually Ceph is short for Cephalopod. That's the reason the NPCs call them squids. Nathan Gould explains this when you meet him at the apartment.

The so called 'cephalopods' were blue and levitated while in the ship, most likely they were only the operators of it. The bipedal armor is an adapatation for the outer ship gravity enviroment, and is used by the 'soldier class', the red ones that came from outer space.

About Nomad and Psycho, I miss them. They were captivating, at least they did speak.
