Hello there wanderes,
question for bethesda developers: why are the textures so low resolution? the detail is just too low,
this textures are ok for games from 2005-2007, not for Fallout 4 in 2015.
will there be HD textures DLC? when?
thanks

Bethesda released an HD texture pack for Skyrim for PC players. Just based on all that stuff Todd Howard was saying about how you can look at all the knobs and buttons in the game, I think they'll release one for Fallout 4.
I saw a trashcan and a brahmin that looked like they were made for PS2. I have an inkling that they have actually just buggered up the mipmaps.
Sounds like a mipmap issue to me. The brahmin look really nice in this game. They have this really leathery, worn look to them. Not sure about the trashcan though.
I was having some mip map problems at some quarry-like excavation sight closer to sanctuary. The distant LOD was still there when I was up close up and the textures were super low res, but there was no collision on any of it, so when I walked through, I could see what was supposed to be there, and the detail and geometry looked good.
I thought so. It would have been odd if they made nice velvety molerats but had minecraft cows.
I agree I think it's a mipmaps or texture streaming issue. E.g. The door into the Cambridge police station looks totally fine. Plenty high res. But every once in a while when I FT there to go inside it looks like a texture from 2003. It's inconsistent, so I bet it's a loading bug of some kind.
No, I'm not talking about the loading bug, that the textures take too much time to load, I'm talking about the textures, they are indeed low resolution, nothing to do with the mipmaskbias or whatever it is called. It is set to -1 and the .ini set read only, so it always loads right, the textures themselves are low resolution and low detail
As usual we have to rely on mods to beautify the game.
+1 vote for high texture package.
Fallout 4's graphics arent bad though, they just don't compare to games like Crysis 3 or CoD's level of graphics.
Graphics on high with custom increase range seemed awesome (GTX 770). Anyway better graphics doesn't make it playable.
Welcome to the Fallout series
If you were expecting beauteous textures and wonderful character models then you're obviously under a misapprehension.Fallout has never been a graphical showpiece.
Trying to imagine the performance in the Commons with, oh, the 4k textures that would be required to shut up the "textures look like PS2" crowd.
consoles and non-high end gaming PCs, they cannot make the game look TOO good, or the consoles and lower end PCs will have problems running it, which is obviously something they want to avoid.
Look at the tech supporrt site for PC. Its a [censored] festival of Graphics and grapic card related crashes.
However, despite this, and the fact that I have logged 20 mins ingame despite not being able to get past "Play", Still a better game than ME3.
