No, the cats ate them. And died.

There has never been any mention of mutated spiders in the Fallout Universe.

I would assume that the devs were fans of giant ant and scorpion films but not of giant tarantula films.

This makes me sad because a giant mutated spider especially if its a tarantula would be far more frighting to run into in the CW or MW than a giant scorpion imo of course.

Scorpions have giant claws and venomous stingers. Spinders don't have much going for them IMO. Unless they are a type that makes webs to trap us.

They have giant mandibles and are really hairy plus imagining accidently bumping into to one in a dark building because you don't have a pip-boy or a lantern and you just hear the creepy sounds they make only to look behind you and see like 20 wastlanders traqed in the spiders web and is getting ready to make you her next meal. O.O

The idea of giant spider webs is an intersting idea. But having them as wasteland creaters, as common as radscorpions would be silly to me.

Yeah i guess your right i just prefer spiders over the mutated bugs that are already in the games :\ i do like the cazadores though i always run away from them because the idea of fighting a giant wasp is creepy especially if you watched a video of close ups on there faces.

I don't know why there are no spiders but I like some of the reasons already mentioned. I kind of thought there should be rattlesnakes. I never see a western movie without someone is killing a rattlesnake. I know night-stalkers are supposed to be a mutation of coyote and rattlers but it's not quite the same.

no, because what the devs wont tell us is that after the bombs fell, the cats became insanely intelligent and found a way to replace their blood with mentats, then used their insane brainpower to transcend to another dimension filled with catnip and socks to attack.

From logical perspective the question is legit, but I also think it's wise to keep spiders away from Fallout. This is a feature which is absolutely a better fit to the Elder Scroll universe then here.

... and Deathclaws riding on their backs, whose throwing Giant Radscorpion poison glands with both hands. Hell, I should do a mod like this one ...

Not at all! Believe me, the Great War just happened because they mismanaged the execution of their ultimate world domination plan. Since then they're laying at their own Vault system and organizing the Post-Apocalypse world to fit their long-term goals. Every human who has at least a little bit of influence is their puppet, and the original purpose behind the establishment of every faction (be it the NCR, Brotherhood of Steel or even the Fallout of Apocalypse) or settlements (from Boneyard to to the Vegas Strip) is to ensure the supplement of cat food. That's why you haven't encountered such items in any Fallout games ... And no, Mr. House not an exception under that. Haven't you noticed yet? Cat plus house means cat house, which is a slang term for a brothel - and we all know that prostitution is legal in (and around) the Strip, right? Other than that, it's not a coincidence that he's rocking that fancy moustache ... :shifty:

I think I remember reading somewhere that spiders were initially left out (from Fallout 1) because they were too much of a fantasy trope - and I guess they just never picked up again.

Someone correct me if I misrecall.

actually, didn't we have giant insects before? a few million years ago? when the oxygen on earth was what.... 60% richer? the oxygen now isn't rich enough for insects to become that big, because they wouldn't be able to support themselves. right? that's how that works?

Scorpions have deadly claws all a spider has are its fangs. We could imagine a giant radscorpion ripping apart a robot but its hard to imagine a giant spider biting and doing damage to a hunk of metal. So radspiders would need something beyond poisonous fangs. Maybe instead of poison their venom is a concentrated acid which they can also spit. Oh wait Skyrim pretty much did that already...

Really I think ghost is right. Giant Spiders are to much of a fantasy trope so they go with scorpions instead.

Except we have giant insects in the Fallout universe so clearly giant spiders COULD exist in fallout they simply don't
