WHy are Werewolves so.... Weak seriously..

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 1:07 am

Edit: Some people cannot read a whole post. I take way less damage as a human than i do as a wolf. it makes NO sense to me.

Hey forum ima werewolf and ima lvl 52 thief type on master difficulty. regardless all throughout the game i find playing as a Werewolf my HP gets melted through ultra easy by anyone! literally i can only kill ppl by howling and then beating on them if they hit me im done for. also i cannot regenerate at all im stuck like that unless i feed...

i have about 400+ health. as an archer i didnt care about the other stats much. in my gear i have 560 somfin health. i invested mostly into HP and pure damage.

I really feel Werewolves are tooooooooooo Underpowered for a 2.5 minute gimmick.. i find the only thing to do with it is use it as a exploit for carrying like 100s of pounds of equipment and running home with it since its faster than a horse.

i literally can get two shotted by hunters who dont do anywhere near that damage to me in human form.

Why is it that in werewolf form I am wayyy weaker? is this a bug or am i alone on this?

edit. i just remeber getting one shotted by a thalmor mage running around. Normally i can stand and take that blast quite a few times. Whats the deal? i mean why is the wolf so beyond weak :(.. these dudes aint even using silver.

second edit because people dont read the whole post so i made it BOLD and LARGER wooo.

I must agree that being a werewolf feals very weak when fighting multiple enemies. 1 vs 1 however the werewolve dominantes against quite a few enemies because you knock them down alot. Still takes ALOT of swings to kill them though.

In open spaces, werewolves are brutal thanks to their stamina and sprint. You can complete tons of hit and run passes, and the charge power-attack is flat out brutal.

Also, know that directional power attacks sends enemies flying. Use that for crowd control when fighting many.

That being said, I agree they could use a little buff.

Give them a health boost, a power boost, the ability to jump higher and survive falling more then a normal person.

I signed up to post something along these lines and then I saw this post when I finally registered. Werewolves in this game just aren't that great. I've read on other forums that some people think they are great or they claim that anyone not enjoying it are just doing it wrong, but I'm at a loss to what I'm doing wrong if anything. I play as a Nord warrior who wields a shield and one handed weapon and haven't had too much trouble from most enemies (although there does seem to be a weird difficulty spike now and again with certain enemies), but it's not worth fighting through a dungeon as a werewolf since it equates to a quick death (doubly so if it's a Silver Hand dungeon or hideout).

To me the Werewolf form in this geme is just completely neutered to the point that I'm questioning being one. Right now the only real upside that I see most people go on about is the 100% resistance to disease, which never really bothered me since I've always got a handful of cure potions on me at any given time (and funnily enough most Silver Hands seem to have one on them). The werewolf certainly does have strength, but it seems incredibly weak and feeding on those falling leaves you completely vulnerable to attack due to its fixed animation, so you can forget about effectively regaining health in the middle of a battle (same goes for the transformation sequence). I understand that the werewolf form should play differently, but it's so cut off from the rest of the game barring you any sort of menu access along with powers, potions and equipment.

If I could change just one aspect I would make it so you at least have access to potions. Not only should we have access to the regular health and stanima potions, but it would be a nice addition to be able to also use the resist magic etc potions or apply poison to our claws.

Although the changes I really want to see to werewolves in some form of DLC are:

Access to menu and potions.

Being able to keep our armour on (and have it visually show on our wolf form in a ragged fashion).

More than one model for werewolves (from what I've seen so far there is only one and it really takes the novelty off being one).

Not being so forced into wolf form. We should at least be able to choose when to return to human form and not have to wait around for it to wear off.

Related to the last point I'm not entirely happy with the feed to extend your time as the wolf. It adds a sort of mini-game to the wolf form which takes the fun out of it. Would it be so wrong to be able to change once a day and disable it when we would like to?

Access to magic and powers. I'm not too sure on this one, because I see there is a good case for the wolf form playing different. However for certain players, like mages, I don't think they should necessarily be barred from using spells with their hands. I'd still exclude any kind of weapon wielding, but since you're supposed to be an intelligent werewolf why can't we just wield whatever powers and spells we already achieved?

Back to the werewolf model issue. Although it looks cool, it doesn't reflect who we are/were before transformation. Ideally I would have liked to reflect our choice in character with examples such as if we had war paint then the wolf should have some, if we chose a hairstyle like braided the wolf could have a little bit of braiding of the fur on its head or if our character has one eye different from the other then the wolf from should show that too. This should apply to NPC's too like Skjor and his white eye or Aela and her war paint.

All they'd need to do is to add a bit protection against everything for the werewolves. Say 40% resistance to everything. (doesn't stack with any racial bonuses or other bonuses).

this is why i think MINE is bugged and some other ppl are experiencing it also

I can take multiple hits but my werewolf form cant take any. like the hunters on the road i let them hit me and i sit there in light armor which isnt even a high level only 50s at lvl 52. anywho i let some ppl hit me often enough and you know what.. my wolf takes way more damage. he cant even stand a magical lightning spell. he like instantly dies.

It doesnt make sense. I feel theres something wrong with my wolfform and other ppls. Also the not regenerating bit is... Rediculous for me because im limited to feeding on humans only and it hardley heals at all when you feed.

In some ways being a werewolf is better suited for a mage. Alteration magic like "Stoneflesh" can be cast before transforming to improve your armor rating while in werewolf form. The Alteration "Mage Armor" perk helps a lot since transforming strips you of all your equipment. Which warriors are VERY dependent on.

thats my point tho its hardley compareable to my human form, it cannot take anywhere near as much damage and the damage it is dishing its pathetic in comparison. maybe its a bug for many users where the form gives like no resistances. and i mean the thing doesnt regen one but unless eating a corpse? yet i normally regen like a madman. i do find the damage to be OK when im using power swings and the running leap.

oh well im content with it to murder ppl and as a horse replacement when carrying like 700lbs of gear.

Werewolf is perfect for taking out 2-3 tough enemies, with the intimidating roar and the swipes that make enemies fly. I easily defeated an ice troll without letting it hit me. I think that the point of the werewolf is hitting a lot, without getting hit.

Here's how you do it.
Step 1: Be an Orc
Step 2: Pop Berserk
Step 3: Pop Beast Form
Step 4: 1-3 shot EVERYTHING you encounter
Step 4: ????
Step 5: Profit

Probably because you're a high-level thief on master difficulty. A thief doesn't generally have a high health pool, and master difficulty makes enemies hit very hard (and you very weak), plus being a high level makes it thrown extra-strong enemies at you.

Certainly werewolves could be balanced better so you don't have to be a warrior to be one effectively at high levels on high difficulty, but I can't say my mid-level mage (which I've only leveled health for once, never stamina, and have not taken one-handed or any armor as a main skill) is having that big of a problem with normal enemies on normal difficulty. As you were told in game, werewolves don't do well when grouped up on, so make sure to funnel enemies so you don't get surrounded. Avoid line-of-sight with archers. Also make sure to hit enemies with both attacks (you attack faster by alternating left, right, left, right, than always left or always right). The howl is your friend, too.

Don't forget the 100% disease resistance (i.e. disease immunity). That's the fairly nice trait about having werewolf blood in you, even if you can't do squat in werewolf form.
