Why are you getting Skyrim for the PC?

Post » Mon Jul 04, 2011 8:26 pm

Because i like fast frame rates.
Because i like sharp graphics .
I play it through my TV.
I don't personally care for mods but i have the choice.
Mouse and keyboard for the win.
Playing with a controller just don't cut it for me. Athough i could use a ps3 controller or an xbox controller if i wish.
I used to play on Consoles but i choose not to now.
Plus i will be playing with my clan mates (on Team Speak) that iv'e been with for 7 years now :)

What is your reason?

(EDIT) No flaming please.

Several reasons, mods, better frame rate graphics, because I've always played TES on PC and because I'm more comfortable using a mouse and keyboard for TES. etc.....

I'm not, because I hate mods and how they stand out and look unnatural. Especially quest mods in Oblivion where the npcs have now dialogue most of the time.

... oh, and graphics, plus the unlimited upgradability of the PC that lets me improve how the game looks and performs at a later date. ^^ I can't discount that.

Really? Should I make a "Why are you getting skyrim for ps3"-thread?

That said, I will probably be playing Skyrim on a PC closer to 2013 and only because of mods. Even then I will be using a controller, because I hate mouse and keyboard.

Mods
Keyboard/Mouse
Better Graphics
More stable, easier to fix problems
I play all of my games on PC
My desktop will run it beautifully. (Just ordered my new build to upgrade my sig rig. i7 2600k, Noctua NH-D14 cooler, 8GB RAM @1600Mhz, Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3)

Slightly off topic-I had an idea this morning while loading a game up, making a RAMdisk server, $3000 for CPU/mobo/RAM/NIC, but it would eliminate loading times completely.
Spoiler
64GB RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161458
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182230

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106043; one for server and one for my gaming PC

Install the game over the network to the RAMdisk server....ah that would be so great.

Unofficial Bugfixes :)

Edit:

And Achievements are distracting - they take away from the roleplaying and results in the "OMG GOTTA BE THE BEST" in true MMO fashion

Because i like fast frame rates.

I play it through my TV.
I like mods they add much to gameplay and improve the game.
Xbox controller ftw.
Mouse and keyboard are used for rts games and fast paced fps and a few other games.
Playing a console port with a keyboard and mouse just don't cut it for me.
I used to play on consoles but i choose not to now. Yup...

Well I suppose I could provide a more in-depth answer than "mods". I've always been a PC "enthusiast" I guess, and I've always preferred the control of a mouse and keyboard over gamepad controller. Between that and me being a huge Steam user and having lots of friends to keep tabs on through there, may as well keep everything in the realm of gaming together on a single platform.

I do lots of graphic/web design stuff on here, so even if I was a console gamer I'd still be shelling out lots of money on a high-performance machine. So may as well make the most of my investment and take advantage of better graphics and mods on PC versions of games if they're available, right?

Oh, and mods.

Oh, and better controls (I like mouse+keyboard for 1st person games).

This is even though it'd probably look better on my PS3. (My PC is getting reallllllly old. :D)

Well besides the obvious answer of mods, graphics, mouse, ect. I like to have control over my system, with consoles I have no control, its up to Microsoft or Sony as to what I can do with it. On my PC I have Gentoo and Windows installed and I spend most of my time in Gentoo anyway. Also the PC ended up being cheaper for me and it saves me space which as a college student is very important.

Mods, better graphic and performance. will using my PC like a supercharged console though, playing games at a desk with a mouse and keyboard, 2 feet from the screen doesn't feel right.

A PC is what I have. No sense my buying a console to play Skyrim when I've got a PC that'll do, now is there :)?
