Because it allows for freedom. Also to have mods on it, makes a great game to enjoy
This, plus the related "I don't want to do this, can't I do something else." Add in the ability to mod the game and it is pretty awesome.
there is no inflation in Skyrim .................a plot of land that costs 5000 septims in 2011.................. still costs the same 4 years later.
and the best way to enter any temple is through Gate 13
this is what it looks like or did look like https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/47/Apostolos_Nikolaidis_Stadium_Gate_13_Entrance.JPG/1280px-Apostolos_Nikolaidis_Stadium_Gate_13_Entrance.JPG
Different experiences offered by playing different characters. I enjoy the role-playing aspect, the freedom to use your imagination, the freedom of having practically everything in the game as something that can be interacted with, the freedom of choice (you don't have to do anything you don't want to do, even so far as never engaging in the main quest), and the character building (perks; specialisation; leveling) process.
Sometimes I focus on one aspect or the other, sometimes all... it all depends on my mood. I haven't played FO4 yet but I've heard really good things. I'm really looking forward to the next ES game. I just hope it doesn't take place in any of the beast lands... never been able to identify with them.
But no return investment or profit off real estate either, though. I've had Proudspire Manor on the market for three years and not a single offer. And it's not like Jordis ever offered to pay rent.
If I can't find one, I'm going to make a mod that allows me to rent out my houses. (kind of like in Fable II and III) I really don't care for the vanilla houses that much after getting into modding and just building my own. The only one that's probably the best vanilla house in my opinion is the one in Markarth. For some reason I just really love the design of the place. Not enough to live there though.
Seems like you have to be dead in order to have you house sold as they're always empty, covered in cobwebs and can only be purchased from Jarl's steward rather than its previous owner...
The scenery. Take your time. Do what you want. That's keeps me happy adventuring in Skyrim. That and roaming Skyrim as a werewolf occasionally.
Whatever do you mean: "tell your own stories"!?
I think he means he roleplays his characters by giving them a life of their own and seeing what sorts of mischief they get into, rather than just following Bethesda's pre-set story lines. Each one gets to tell their own story by living their life through the medium of the game. That's how I do it anyway.
Absolutely! Add me to the list, that's how I do it too.
I understand! Going of-script does create one's own story
Yes.... Now, I did play three totally "vanilla" games at release: one each for each side of the civil war, and one without choosing sides in the CW. Then.... katy bar the door! I'd already played the previous 4 games, and began modding back in Morrowind; once I had done the three "vanilla playthroughs", I was off to the Skyrim mod races - and I've never looked back.... At this point in time, I don't ever play a vanilla, unmodded game - and every playthrough is a new day in Tamriel.
