Why Are You In Jail

Post » Tue Sep 21, 2010 1:11 am

So tell me, why are you in jail?

edit: tell me why your character is in jail/prison, explain in full detail what happened to YOUR character. Hope that cleared a few thing up

edit 2: Ima make a list of the ones I like starting below

Spoiler

A rival mage charmed the guards and asked them to arrest me.

I banged the Count of Leyawin's daughter. Knowing i was going to be arrested i fled to Skyrim, and when i got to Skyrim i was arrested for having an ice cream cone in my back pocket, i forgot it was Turdas...

Killed a mudcrab.

Public Nudity and Public Intoxication after a bar fight.

Lets just say there is a reason there are no children in Cyrodiil . . .

My character was hired by a blacksmith to protect him from assassins. As he enters the shop to start his first day, he sees the Blacksmith lying on the floor, dead. He pulls out his sword to protect himself from other assassins, and one comes out to attack him. He slashes his arm and the assassin rushes out the back door. A child servant comes downstairs and sees my sword, bloodied. He screems and the guard comes in to see what happened. I'm taken to jail for murder. The court is not interested in an investigation so I'm assumed guilty.

Credit to myself and another from this forum, I forgot to write his name down.

i butt-fvck3d glarthir
remember glarthir... lets just say there was a reason why he was so paranoid.

I was imprisoned and sentenced to death for killing hundreds of my adoring fans that I led into the wilderness and slaughtered.

I licked my butt in a public place.

The same damn thing happened in the Imperial City

  • Finding a way to permanently kill the adoring fan.
  • Arguing with M'Aiq the liar.
  • Mistakingly mixing up Wabbajack with a noble's cane during a quest. Turns out the noble liked to use his cane to scratch his back :whistling: .
  • The character first made a nudity mod. Then the guards stormed his place to stop him from making a "Bang" mod.

edit 3: It will not allow to post more. thats all for now, but I will replace ones that are funnier

Todd Howard said it's up to the player interpretation as to why we begin in jail. So, when I begin as my good character, she's in jail by mistake. As my evil character, he's commited man slaughter. :hubbahubba:

My character, Uilliam LaRouche, the Great great great great great grandson of Timothee LaRouche (in Anvil, Cyrodiil) is accused of piracy and theft, and will be sentenced to death... until...

Btw, if your a dragonborn, does that mean you have to be a descendant of another dragonborn some kind of way? I'm a little confused.

For one character it was esponage spying on Skyrim affairs, for others it was being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Another was for killing a village blacksmith.

As I've said before: I have no idea. I have not yet met my character. I know she is a female Nord named Vannora Shale-Fist and that's about it. Once I play through the main quest and observe the choices she makes and watch her personality develop, then I'm sure I'll be able to figure out what she did to get put in jail.

I don't play from the perspective of "I want to make a character like this or like this." I focus more on just making a character and then learning about him or her as I play. I typically develop their personalities on a whim based on the choices I make throughout the game.

I don't want to spend too much time making a specific character type and personality and all that only to find 10 minutes into the game that my characters actions don't fit.

True, but most vague descriptions would be possible.

Caught stealing a shortsword.
And arrows.
And a bow.
And that nice pair of gloves.
And that pouch of gold from that Elven lady.

Gets off cot, checks bars, tries to remember what led to this state.
Recalls that one night, a name bites through the fugue Charles Che'en an imperial bard, a place with dancing and skooma.
The slurred words of here kitty kitty, that makes my fur stand up on end.

Honestly I hope some basic events in lore are released before the games release.
You know some snipets about the different ex imperial provinces, so we can fill a few details in for ourselves.
Not much of this would be spoiler material, just some quick round up of the races over two hundred years past.

Nope. The Nerevarine was a Dragonborn. And think about it, a line of Dragonborn has to start somewhere. It's my understanding that the Dragonborn are individuals chosen by the gods (assuming Shor and/or Kyne) and after that their direct descendants are also Dragonborn.

Edit* forgot to answer the OP's question.

My character Relvain Lleondas, who I've used in every ES game so far* is about to be executed because:
While in a tavern he overheard a conversation between three Imperial nobles talking about the Red Year. They were not being very compassionate towards the tragedy and one of them even had the nerve to go so far as to say the Dunmer deserved it, and it was a shame they weren't completely wiped out.

Now, Relvain doesn't pretend that the Dunmer didn't do horrible things. But Red Year happened years after slavery had been abolished! All of those innocents did not deserve to pay for the mistakes of the bastards. Bastards like those Imperials! Well, he had enough. Fueled by mead and anger he slew them all.

"By the way... do you happen to know what the fine is here in Skyrim for necrophilia? Just asking."

Just kidding. My main characters are usually in for theft or general defiance of authority. My heroes tend to be thieves by nature (and dangerously vague in the morality department), so local law enforcement tend to take a dim view of their presence.

I stormed the kings palace and massacred the kings guards and court mages. Once I got to the king I spit on his face. Then was arrested.

Why did I do it? I don't know, I felt compelled to. Perhaps it was faith, destiny, or the workings of some trickster/mad god.

I'd say not because the whole explanation of Skyrim's plot that we've got so far has been basically "The Septims were the last line of dragonborn. And Tamriel hasn't seen another dragonborn for decades (technically two centuries) until you come around." - paraphrasing of the Skyrim issue of GI.

Edit* of course it is possible though. Since unless they've killed off the Nerevarine his/her descendants would be Dragonborn. Though I could see why the wide world of Tamriel wouldn't think of him/her because the Dragonborn bit is only known to those who've read the lost prophecy.
