Why no auction house feature?

Can someone explain why theres no public AH system? I understand there is guild vaults and what not - but I can't see myself investing [censored] tonnes of time maxing professions, if i can't easily sell it somewhere.

We have a postal service, why not an AH? All I see the result will be is mass 'Trade Chat Spam' in /zone.

I'm sure it's been thought of and discussed, can anyone enlighten me?

Because it gets abused and is a sure way to put any in game economy on it's roof. I will be seriously disappointed if any form of AH is implemented, One day a +3 butter knife of awesomness costs 5 gp the next week it's 2,000,000 gp. And the damn thing still won't cut butter.

Not really. If you rely entirely on /zone for trading with randoms, A) it'll be a tonne of spam. B.)If you're on a different mini-server to someone selling the item you want, neither of you get the sale C) You have no 'reference' for market values or to make informed decisions on.

Sounds bloody awful

I don't like auction houses.

That being said, I hate map chat trade spam more.

Since TESO doesn't have a game-wide AH, there will be lots and lots of spam. Lame...

A global AH or Market Place seems the only sensible solution - other than joining a specific trading guild...which is like a global AH but restricted/pointless.
