Why i believe TESO will fail on launchday.

Post » Thu Mar 13, 2014 10:23 pm

I've seen it happen over and over again, and other developers and publishers never learn from

other companies mistakes. A game that requires a server-connection is hyped, gets hundreds of thousands

of sales, even millions before the game is even launched.

Blizztard sold 6million copys of Diablo-III before the servers was even open, it was the most hyped and wanted

game 2012 and it had the mighty activision to back it up. Yet.. with Collectors editions selling out months before

release, blizztard still didn't take this as a huge hint that there was gonna be a huge rush for the servers...

On launchday, Diablo-III players, millions... encountered Error 37, servers were overloaded and packed...

Same with Titanfall that was released just a few days ago. It had a 2week Stresstest with 2million gamers,

and during some nights when they reduced the server-power, players would simply disconnect for hours,

the game was unplayable for up to 3-4 hours some night...

So by that, you'd think that EA and Respawn Entertainment would have been prepared and gotten sufficent

servers for the incoming huge load of players that was going to login and play on the day of release.

I mean , its HYPED to the brink of bursting.. they should've been prepared - but they failed.

On the day of release, Titanfall players would find themselves getting either disconnected or not even be able

to connect with the servers at all. EA and Respawn failed, eventho they had hyped the game for 2 years

and had 2million players on stresstest.

So this leads me to believe that TESO will fail on the day of release. Its THE new mmo that a lot of people have

been waiting for, and they haven't really had any real stress-test, just minor "beta tests" for 2 days running on old versions

of the game... not really a stress test.

So i hope Zinemax and Bethesda will prove me wrong. But i am willing to be money on that they will fail,

the servers will crash and players will get disconnected because of strained servers and heavy loads

on the first day.. eventho they've had all warnings from previously failed "grand openings" from others developers.

Prove me wrong please.

There's a huge difference between server and login issues and the game "failing" on launch day.

I fully expect there to be issues and anyone that has played a large online multiplayer game probably expects the same thing.

Uh no. D3 was fail from the start :)

Besides, Always-on-DRM for a multi-player optional game is different then connections to play in a persistent online world.

sure there will be problems... no company will spent the money for server capacities which will not be needed anymore after some weeks...

I've never once seen an MMO launch go smoothly...

There's much more too it than I can see, so I'm not in any position to judge.

I am expecting it however.... it will all even out in the end, just gotta be patient.

erm there will be launch issues. Its just normal for any online game. And veternan MMOers will pretty much expect it. So dont see it as a reason this game will fail.

Thats why they have been doing mass stress testing the last few Months.

and btw, due to your avatar I can't help but read your text in Kermits voice and imagine his hands waving around in the air. Its Hilarious.

One thing ESO has going for it is the amount of people who pre-ordered. Those 3 or 5 days early start, I feel, will greatly reduce the amount of people, on official launch day, that will try to log in at the same time.

Don't forget that there will be 3 wave of launches in ESO...the 5-day early access, 3-day early access, and the 4/4/14 launch. While I am sure ther will be some issues during those days, I think having 3 separate launches will make it a lot smoother than if it wer just a one day event.

Yeah, I'm really struggling to get past the avatar, especially with a post like that.

If you really have a problem with it, don't touch the game until a week after launch. Job done.

Almost every MMO that has been released has had some issues on launch day with server load.

This is nothing new.

I was going to say the exact same thing. I used to work in a data center its to much money in man hours, machines and bandwidth when it all won't matter next week.

Wait, what? His original name is Kermits? LOL. In portuguese-br they translated it to Caco. Huehue.
