and make a decent actual Fable game for once
and make a decent actual Fable game for once
Nah. They've already got TES for all their fantasy needs.
What they now need is a futuristic Space-age style or Steampunk game.
Space Age Steampunk where everyone is dead because steam in space..
Why can't I magically make a million dollars?
One: Because Microsoft owns the IP and https://www.vg247.com/2016/05/11/microsoft-wouldnt-budge-on-fable-ip-despite-multiple-offers-for-lionhead-report/. Or cheaply.
Two: I doubt Bethesda's interested. And why should they be? They already have a fantasy world with wizards and magic and [censored]. There's nothing that they can do in Fable that can't already accomplish in TES.
Why would they waste their money on a dead franchise?
Furthermore, Fable is atypically English, with some Irish, Scottish and Welsh references. It would need to be handled by some team who are appropriately versed in the nuances of said cultures.
I actually liked Fable 3, but the lack of crazy body morphs was a huge downside. The other downside is that it's impossible to get the PC version anymore. >.>
Considering Bethesda already has two highly successful (one of which also being fantasy) RPG franchises, I think they're just fine without Fable.
Speaking of which, can we please have ALL BRETONS have an English accent?
Imperials can be as American as apple pie, but I'd like greater regional variations. If a Breton was born and grew up in Cyrodiil, then the American accent is fine, but these are supposed to be distinctive races and yet they often seem almost interchangeable at times. Of course, they probably want to avoid drawing real-world parallels or playing to stereotypes that could be perceived as negative, but I, for one, hope the whole world never ends up like Brazil.
Different peoples are valued for being different in my eyes. The variety also gives the world and countries a distinctive feel, so it's more engaging to interact with.
I guess it's hard to argue for the preservation of racial heritage without coming across as some kind of right-wing extremist, and that's a travesty.
Anyway, yeah, actual identities and corresponding accents for the different races would be most welcome.
The 2 AAA video game development companies I think that fit perfect for developing new Fable video games is.
Bethesda Game Studios, Maybe? I'd hope they do it justice.
CD Projekt RED I think they definitely can do it justice.
Add magic to the mix and you have Arcanum.
Anyway, I don't think they should take on any more IPs, they are already releasing unfinished games as it is.
...And it's taking them far too long to release those games too, in my opinion. I don't want a game a year, but I also don't want to have to wait seven or eight years for a new Elder Scrolls game. That is too long for me.
I have no feelings about Fable one way or the other, as I've never played any of them. But do know that I'm not enthused about adding more games to Bethesda's workload and slowing down an already slow release schedule.
