I would think PC guys have it taken off because the mouse+keyboard combination is more precise and responsive then a controller (I apologize if this sounds like im flaming I myself even play the game on Xbox). Is there any reason you would want it specifically off? I would think you'd be at a disadvantage playing against a bunch of people that DO have aim assist

nah your ok :)
there's an option to turn it off it the settings. i just want the whole thing turned off completely
it just annoys me when i get killed by obvious auto aim. it's pretty cheap (it locks on to people behind walls, invis guys, sniping is much easier with it) and makes the game (this is going to sound mean to some) more even. all games aren't supposed to be even, your supposed to know that the guy who just killed you killed you because he was better than you

Thanks, yeah I was mainly saying it because I didn't wanna sound like one of those PC elitist types. Regardless on agreeing or disagreeing aim assist in console FPS games has been common practice for some time. Are you new to console shooters?

I don't think it locks on. Every console shooter uses a few different mechanics to make them playable. Crosshairs always slightly slow down when moving over a target, and a bunch of other assists, or playing FPS games with a controller wouldn't be feasible. They are supposed to be barely noticeable though. I read about it in a Game informer magazine from last month. Halo pioneered it, and virtually every FPS game uses the same tricks.

When I think of Auto aim, I think of STreets of New York or Red Dead redemption where when you press LT it targets an enemy.

Yeah that's what I was referring to. Aim assist, not Auto lock on like Red Dead

nah, i've had a 360 the year after it came out. sorry i didn't mean lock on. i meant what you said it slows down, but some times that slow down is all you need to just scan the screen and see if somebody is behind a wall or building. halo 3 or reach cause i never noticed it in h3. red dead is an extreme case. people voiced out about that game (even though it was just a casual shooter) and got a separate playlist were auto aim was gone completely. never heard of streets of new york. halo 2 didn't have any auto aim and people played that game fine

the aim assist doesnt work at longer ranges and only really works at close range. I guess its to compensate for the fast speed at close range.

In a perfect world id like it off for everyone to because then I might actually be able to slide kill someone without their aim locking onto me while sliding.

I play with Aim assist off because I cant stand how it locks onto an enemies chest rather than me being able to line a headshot up and also how if another enemy runs past it locks onto them. I think when you get the training wheels off say around level 10 or 15 then the game should take aim assist away from you because by then you should be a solid enough player.

it does with snipers, it gets reduced though. you really have to pay attention to notice it.
the last part is a really good idea to compromise on it

Its not as bad as it was in demo, just left click trigger fire. as for sniper i turned aim assist off as its alot easier to use then.
