Why can't our achieved properties function as such?

Post » Sat Oct 26, 2013 11:13 pm

So why is it, when you achieve a special property, you can't actually use it as a home?

I'm talking about the Arch-mage's quarters, that mansion you can keep the deed to in the Thieve's Guild quest, Jorrvaskr Harbinger room, or even your basic room in each guild?

I don't even want a full on steward and bard (although that'd be nice). It would just be nice to be able to move your wife there. But nope! Why wouldn't they implement this?

Yeah, but surely the Arch-mage would have the right to live with their spouse in their quarters? It's a College, isn't it? The President of my college lived in college housing with her spouse, as I recall. I can't imagine it would--or should--be different for the other guildhalls.

IOW, I agree with the OP.

Never thought about being offended by this. Maybe the Arch Mage quarters were suppose to be thought of as a home away from home. You know, a Manager's Office with a bed. I mean it's just a college after all.

Do thieves even bother to have a wife n kids? Kind of a short term profession.

I think maybe the most offensive would be The Companions. I would think vamps and wolves would want to keep family close by.

Eh? I live in the Arch Mage Quarters. Dunno about the others, but ive been there for months (in game) and it works perfectly. In fact, its one of my favorite residencies

edit: oh wait are you talking about moving spouses? Woopsies.

I can overlook the Companions as normally my Harbinger owns Breezehome. Its only but a drunken stumble away... lol

The CoW quarters should have allowance for family but I shudder at the thought of trying to raise a family in the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary :P

It's not exactly offensive, just curious that Bethesda did not think it should be possible, for certain guilds, at least.

It's most glaring with the College of Winterhold. I mean, the Arch-Mage does live there, or at least he did before you succeeded to that position.

You should be casting spells, stealing [censored], murdering innocents, and bludgeoning bandits, not [censored] your partner in your cosy chamber.
