Why we can't use the bathroom in Fallout 4?

Post » Mon Feb 15, 2016 2:01 pm

I know that this topic may seem strange or weird. But every time I explore the wasteland, I can not help but notice several bathrooms, many of which are either destroyed or in good condition. So I wonder: why can not we use them, not only to "drink" and restore HP, and some radiation. I mean for what have been built: a toilet for the biological needs, and also the possibility of using the shower for the first time.

I know it sounds strange, but every time I think about it, I'm thinking this: During the Cold War who were "exposed" huge amounts of radiation had to pass at a decontamination chamber which provided for the use of showers. He had to constantly wash until the Geiger counter reached minimum levels.

Furthermore, the human body, gradually fails to expel some of the radiation portions via sweat, urine and feces. I know it's disgusting but true: the human body tries to expel foreign bodies and waste in our bodies that can compromise our health every day.

So why not introduce these two functions in Fallout 4 for survival mode?

Of course eating and drinking is important, but I think that taking care of our personal hygiene is another step for survival in the wasteland.

In the game I think it would be interesting to use, because if not controlled such as lack of food, water and excessive radiation can bring to death. So it makes more sense to go to the bathroom, use toilets, sinks and showers anywhere. As long as the water is potable and of course free of radiation.

But I also think of a "lack" of food. I know it's weird, but for those who would not become cannibals, I think so would make Bear Gryll proud, and "re-use" our "needs" such as food, or lack of weapons, use them as biological weapons.

And maybe for our settlements, have the ability to build special showers, even a shower decontamination, in addition to the normal and bathtubs. And let's not forget the new toilets, I would say that an expert in porcelain, be able to build new ones.

And at least we would have an intelligent use of these "raw resources". Considering that most of the buildings in Boston, and even our settlements (if we want) can have a bath in it.

What do you think about it?

Honestly we have to survive, and i guess if we can have many options to live clean and safe. Not only with the most cool power armor and the most deadly weapon, i guess we have to take care of ourself, if we choose the survival mode. Yep

Well where i live you have to be 18 to play Fallout 4, so that makes zero sense. And why would you want to? This is not a real life simulator.

Well, is not a real life simulator, but i guess I think it would be more challenging. I don't want "real life," but I think that to survive not just drink water, eat food or take Stimpack and rad-away to stay healthy. In this way, it would make it even more tactical, increasing the difficulty of the game.

You know, I think that at least there would also be a feeling of "clean" and "dirty", considering that the longer we are exposed to dirt and dust from Boston, our body begins to get dirty. With a shower we could clean our, and in doing so reduce infection rates, that would compromise our special and an increasing of the radiation poisoning.

The problem is precisely to find clean water to be able to "clean up." Certainly the irradiated water "would help" to clean ourselves, but would increase anyway radiation (quite high I would say) so I would say that would prove a risky move, to be used only in desperate cases.

I think in Stalker I had to eat regulary. Not sure if I would die without it, but there was a negative effect of being hungry. I would not mind the game to be more difficult for surviving.. It only feels as surviving at lower levels . I believe in FO3 you could use sinks and toilets for drinking. No idea why they got rid of it. It was fun to run away from supermutants to the nearest toilet.

Yep only for drink dirty water. And obvious for the survival mode. In normal mode they could be just "fresh aromatized" water containers. But still getting some sources when we use them.

And yes, also for fun: Only if we are really bored, want to launch the "Jarate" as the sniper from Team Fortress 2 in the face of the enemies, or like an angry monkey.

For the weapons well, i think we could have fun. Yep, i think "fart in a jar" can be "toxic" or "explosive" with the right componens. But hell, this sounds weird, but hey weapons are created for our fun in our travels sometimes. Sometimes "yeah", in the most of the cases they could be helpfull against ghouls. Specially against them.

No chance that Beth will add this.

I can see the rational though. Going to the toilet has been done by npc's in Dishonored and Red Dead Redemption. It is actually quite handy when one chooses to sneak up on someone and do a sneak attack. It would make things interesting if we go jumped too.

I like the idea of dirt and cleaning with a shower. Imagine Dogmeat. He could shake water everywhere.

That would be pretty cool...and maybe we could get a few extra rads flung our way when we get hit with the water...and get those odd comments about smelling like a wet dog. :hehe:

As for dirt, it might be a nice feature to have if, say, we could progressively get a little dirtier the longer we go without cleaning ourselves. In order to keep it from becoming too much of a burden for those who don't want to be bothered with the ideas, make it part of the new and improved survival mode.

I'd be up for being able to and showers and bathrooms to settlements, both to add happiness and so the settlers can actually get clean. Seems strange that I can produce 80+ units of clean water, but people don't know how to wash the dirt of their face. I'f I'm gonna have those really fancy clothes to put on them, the least they could do is wash their face and hands.

well, this could be one of the points. But i guess, the other if we don't care our hygene, we can still get an increase of radiation poisoning. And maybe reduce our charisma and stamina.

And for the poo and pee "needs" as i said, is helpfull to "expell" sometimes the radiations, but also could damnage our HP if we don't find soon a place for "waste" the dirts; malus for our stamina, agility and perception.

Well of course, in normal mode could be just optional.

And this is another thing: what if the hygene is also used by the NPC, or even your same companions.

having public bathroom should be helpfull and reduce this kind of "problems", well one of the manies i guess.

My character usually goes to the washroom when he/she has privacy. As in when I'm offline.

You can think it's weird or whatever as much as you want. But I also thought the exact same thing. If you have true "Survival" mode. It should be more than just "more legendary enemies".

And hardcoe mode in NV was pretty easy too so yeah this looks a little bit better.

What I want more is showering, at least make the water work, like being able to "activate" it, it allows certain roleplaying aspect to shower, eating, sleeping.

I get this from the whole realism and immersion aspect, but I think something like that is an unnecessary step. I don't need to sit down on a toilet to take a dump to be immersed in the game.

I'm just picturing getting a notification in the middle of combat -

"You suddenly feel an overwhelming need to drop a dook"

*AP meter starts draining and you have to waddle to a bathroom with super mutants chasing you*

I want total realism dammit. Farts and everything. With companion commentary to go along with it

Curie - "Is everything okay in there monsieur?"

Hancock - "Damn, it sounds like you've been hitting the chems too hard lately. I've been down that road before."

Codsworth - "Don't worry sir, I'll clean that mess right up."

I'm gonna make a huge group shower for the female NPCs. It'll be great with my nvde mods. ;)

I'll just build myself a little bar right in the middle of the shower room, and enjoy the view.

Realisticly its better they dont do it, imagine how stupid wud it be when you wud have to take a shower or go to the toilet with your underwear/clothes on(i mean i rember taking a shower in ME3 and ofcourse you did it fully clothed which looked silly and game wud be better off without the option), and you can be 100% sure Bethesda wudnt include a nvde option.(ofcourse if you rly want that in your game i am sure some modder will create something along the lines of what you desire soon after the release of GECK)
