Why can't we wield a Sythe? or a broom or a waste basket

Cuz it would take time off the team to work for a sythe that 7 people wanted

Right now 41% of voters are completely supporting this idea, 37% are ready to support it with restrictions, they don't want to pick up "silly" things. It's not 7 people.

And it's not about a scythe or a broom or a chair. It's about "make TES game world living and breathing", and being able to pick up a chair and crack it upon the head of fat bartender is much more awesome than dragons.

Real weapons? Seriously?

And yeah, I think that any weapon shaped object should be able to be used as a weapon of it's closest type, just make them really weak.

We could use pool cues in Fallout 3, so I can't see why scythes and even brooms would be outta the question.

Yes fallout 3 had a nice collection of weapons, very few were effective but it looked fun.

The scythe is ineffective because the blade point the wrong way, yes it can be modified but then it would not work for cutting grass.
The pitchfork probably the tool who makes the most effective weapon, a metal spade or a pickaxe is also good even if heavy. A hoe can also do decent damage.
Chairs are shields not lethal weapons, brooms are not lethal, a frying pan should be pretty effective, even better if hot, boiling water or other hot liquids is the best weapon in a kitchen.
In short ignore anything that is less lethal than a dagger because everyone has one.

M'aiq wonders why people want a scythe as a weapon, you can have a perfectly good war hammer instead.

You have to draw the line somewhere.

I'd just draw them based on the size and mass of the object. Let the physics engine calculate the effects of anything hitting anything else: Sword against arm, broom against head, body against rock, whatever.

Well I prefer if we will not fight with this items, sure thats cool improvisated weapons expectedly for bar fights still some of things can be used like low level weapons for NPC, but better if we can start an idle animation with them since npc can do thats and some Radiant Story quests thats will utilize that feature.

I'd draw them on shape. I reckon you should only be able to use something as a weapon if it is shaped something like a weapon and can feasibly be held in your hands.

--- even if it was something as useless as a pewter mug.

This is all I want.
Drunken mug fights in taverns.
C'mon, that's awesome.
